  • this is like viral video the music video plus they probably didnt have to pay much for the music video

  • Amazing. Music videos can't get any better.

  • this is the original FLASH MOB...

  • wow, great to see this again, back when I was 18 this was the balls nuts, for sure.....you were assured of seeing this video on much every hour or two for a couple months. it was huge!

  • this reminds me of Napolean Dynomite

  • 0:59 Come at me Bro.

  • WTF is this?

  • i actually copycatted this beat and the piano chords long before the video was out, the song was extremely underground at the time, and i convinced this dude to sing the lyrics "that i wrote" for a talent show and virtually nobody in the school had a clue to the con that i pulled.

We came in 2nd place that year and i got the dude seriously laid. and never publicly credited myself for the performance. when the video came out the dude was bully and tormented so bad he switched schools. lol

  • That's why I said "it's ok to dream "everybody" added.

You're a psycho. Always were. Simple no brainer.

  • Rhinestone Cowboys. You're all pretty much the same, full of the same shit.

    ("oooops" right?)

Did you get the new Crayons for Christmas? I sent you boxes of them.

  • Spike Jonze-Jackass

  • has this been added to my favorites? it has now! :D

  • I LOVE THIS! <3333 :DD

  • 1:01 Lucy Liu chilling at the mall before fame.

  • If some one did this at my school, I'd shake their hand! xD

  • *cough* Greatest music video ever *cough* ... What, I didn't say anything....

  • never wanted to be in a video more then now watching this.

  • i love the old man hes guaranteed awesome

  • The really funny thing is that Spike Jonze directed a video for Rockefeller Skank that was incredibly overbudget and decided to do the cheapest one possible for his next one.

  • That's Fatboy Slim in the background at 3:52.

  • OK ENOUGH!!!

  • @straightcleaner With?

  • By far, this was and will continue to be the best video ever made. It's like 15 years later and it's still hilarious to me.

  • Gosh, even I have given in to the Youtube clip with advert included, but I don't watch the darned things! I wait for them to pass on a different window then I come back! So there!

  • The whole thing is fake. Spike Jonze created a fictional dance group for this music video. They showed up unannounced at this movie theater to film the video guerilla style. He even later made a mockumentary about the Torrance Community Dance Group. Just thought I'd show the big picture behind the video.

  • 3:55 Fatboy Slim

  • thats fatboy at the end, walking by and leans back and looks at the camera, about 8 secs left in the viddy

  • How do you get 7 or 8 people to act like a bunch of idiots? talk to this guy... He is the master piece, the epicenter of all the idiots, he commands all the rest of them...

  • indy before indy was indy..

  • its wierd to think im going to see deadmau5 and fatboy slim is playing right before him

  • @HeadbangingGlory did you go to the halloween thing at the bill graham civic? i did! so fucking amazing....and i freakin' lost it when i heard this song.

  • @pandaEmpress yeah i was at that show! i agree it was fucking amazing

  • hah, after all this time i never noticed this is at the movie theaters near ucla

  • That is some hardcore crack right there

  • Second best. Weapon of choice is number one. nothing beats Christopher Walken dancing.

  • Original flashmob!

  • my uncle is in the glasses..

  • @thewyopokes u lie

  • @thewyopokes looks kinda like steve jobs with a beard.

  • @thewyopokes so he looks like a pedo?

  • Hey, im from torrance. That makes me important?

  • So is this a goof? Spike Jonez playing a prank? Or is this art? I guess it's art either way

  • Comment removed

  • The song is by Fatboy Slim but the actual dancer in the center is Spike Jonze who is accompanying the Torrance Community Dance Group. Just thought that clarifcation was necessary, because I don't see it labeled anywhere around this video.

  • @MrMurchmurch it says who the dance group is at the beginning...learn to pay attention to detail.

  • @MrMurchmurch The Torrance Community Dance Group is a fictional "joke" created for this video. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

    Peace

  • @MrMurchmurch Spike Jonze is real. But the dance group is made up

  • @MrMurchmurch

    cool! woulda never known!

  • @MrMurchmurch 0:03 "torrance community dance group presents"

  • @MrMurchmurch i was gonna ask if that was spike jonze haha

  • this is the greatest tribute to mediocrity

  • Backwards Fish swim is the best move they got

  • this is my FAAAAVVVV video so fucking HILARIOUS LMAOO!!

  • Did anyone else think when they first heard this that it was "praise you like a shoe" ?

  • This is the best video I've seen in a long time. Wow, Spike Jonze too.

  • they're only ignorant because they were alive when it came out. this is heaps bad ass

  • There's some ignorant comments here...It's Spike Jonze!

  • AND SO.. the birth of of the flash mob begins! celebrate!

  • Needs work, maybe if you got stoned it would have helped, ahh maybe NOT! lol

  • The song was good but every time i watch these retards i am thinking that these idiots are the one's responsible for the creation of the Justin Bieber fan base hell the NO TALENT similarities appear to show in other words this music video could have been done alot better than this monsterocity.

  • @onaga2406 you should look up the meaning behind this video, youll be surprised what you find

  • This is my favorite hymn.

  • you go spike jonze

  • This video confused the shit out of me when I was a little kid...

  • pioneer age of flash mobs.

  • I envy these guys freedom.

  • that was the most disgusting ad i have ever seen... not getting acuvu contacts anymore.

fat bitch: I met with joe JONAS!! eeee im gonna make a difference now! EEEEE!!!

....jesus im just trying to listen to some good music...

  • Spike Jonze looks like my CIS professor.

  • @shaftation you mean Richard Koufey looks like your CIS professor?

  • Genious! Spike Jonze directed and danced in this video... Is from 1999...

  • How many of you realize that the nerdy looking leader of the group is actually Spike Jonze?

  • dad?

  • HA. He says, "background," as FatBoy Slim walks into the background.

  • I would start dancing if I were there

  • this video just makes me happy :)

  • I would've tiped them some decent coinage in that empty guitar case! Either that or joined in on the geek fest.

lol, he's even wearing skinny jeans too before it was even cool again!

  • Best Flash Mob Everrr

  • Haha. I saw this on MTV and was like "oh shit, that's Westwood." Go BRUINS!

  • @anonymousdrifter it's cool for the mistake Bro, we all dig Fatboy Slim

  • The worlds first Flash Mob!

  • Ha, it's Westwood : )

  • Spike Jonze is a genius!!! So much talent in such a small package.

  • Comment removed

  • The blonde guy at 4:04 is fatboy slim

  • @anonymousdrifter you just blue my mind more than tobias did

  • @anonymousdrifter No, FatBoy Slim comes into the video around 3:58, he is walking behind the guy who is talking, and he pauses for a moment to look into the camera

  • @kevywev1 My mistake. I knew that somewhere at the end of the video Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) makes an appearance. I figured he was the blonde dude as he looks a lot more like him now-a-days. Thanks for the correction.

  • best video on youtube..

  • the original flash mob

  • Spike Jonze and Fat Boy Slim are both geniuses.

  • XD I literally laughed out loud.

  • Best music video ever. Or at least one of the best.

  • the guy that stopped the music at 2:00 made 79 accounts all to dislike this video

  • @bigmac8910 AHAHAHAHAHA

  • That was the best reaction to someone turning off music ever.

    *CLING*

  • Greatest! Never a doubt!

  • the original "flash mob"????

  • In case nobody knows, the guy with glasses and stripped black/white shirt is Spike Jonze (director of many music videos and films).

  • I like that this video is so old that you can't see anyone holding their cell phones up. Instead of trying to document an interesting moment, they are actually looking at it.

  • @ShisoruX I bet you can also remember when CNN actually carried the news.

  • @ShisoruX Good observation. This was 1998. Only 5 years later phones had cameras, and people started snapping or videoing everything

    .

Funny how technology changes lifestyles SO fast!

    .

  • @ShisoruX Not as many people had cell phones back then

  • caint wait 2 c them at voodoo experiance 2011 louisiana

  • This song, for some strange reason, makes me want to go up to a black person and say, "You're all right!"

  • @steveparok00 RACIST

  • I can't decide whether this is the greatest video of all-time or the worst.

  • @ManhattanProject9 easily the greatest

  • @ManhattanProject9 the former

  • @ManhattanProject9 Take another look at that mans mustache. You will then know the answer in your heart.

  • @ManhattanProject9 it's both

  • @ManhattanProject9

    greatest!

  • @ManhattanProject9 the worst video ever but good song

  • @ManhattanProject9 Umm.... He clearly states he "performed with several b-boy posses" which definitively answers your question: GREATESt VIDEO OF ALL TIME!

  • @ManhattanProject9 Pure Genius and yet ridiculously ridiulous!

  • @ManhattanProject9 it's vevo, so it's the worst. dont kid yourself, societally infected noob.

  • @ManhattanProject9 Worst.

  • hero

  • 56 march of the penguins

  • I guess if there wasn't any girls there it would just look silly.

  • baaaaad video for such a good song

  • this looks liek the start if a cult...

  • If this was in recent times people would start screaming "TERRORISTS!!"

  • I love the dude at the end who goes for a high five and gets a hand shake.

  • wow i didn't think that it was actually possible to dance to this.

  • does anyone else notice fatboy slim in the background?

  • @yoyoyo1288 I liked seeing him walking by the camera during the interview at the end. :D

  • Who should i praise ?

  • this is awesome

  • kids, this was back in the late 90s when people danced like retards in public.

    *looks at random jerkin video*

    never mind.

  • Does no one else find this HILARIOUS?!?!? :D

  • Doe anyone know the name of that man with the glasses and the striped shirt? I wanna buy him a beer!

  • @BlackBeardDelight187 That's Spike Jonez, the film director

  • This guy has nice moves..lol

  • old school flash mob....

  • When I went to Manhattan with my choir when I was in college, 8 of us or so broke off one night and started singing jazz songs A Cappella. We weren't playing for money, although the $40 that we unexpectedly collected was nice. It was just about doing what we loved to do, and exposing others to it who may otherwise not even realize that the performing arts still do exist outside of a movie theater (literally, in this case)

  • this is a soothing song.

  • Haha Fatboy Slim at 3:55 XD

  • there's something to be said about doing what makes you happy even if it makes you look like a idiot

  • Before camera phones....

  • Genius...pure genius.

  • I'll keep on topic by saying this: would've been nice to be in that crowd watching the dancing. Certainly a feel good vid. And have to admit it puts a smile on your face whether you want it to or not.

  • Apparently ya'll don't get the genius of this video... It's not supposed to be high picture and high sound quality. It was a real thing shot guerrilla style in front of a stupid movie theater and confused the hella outta people. Classic. It was basically Spike Jone's apology to Fatboy Slim for not being able to direct Rockafeller Skank.

  • FatBoy Slim cured me from clinical depression! Drug free. NO SHIT!

  • I would've loved to witness this.

  • I Praise You Tuber's!!!

  • Kinda like Napoleon Dynamite's solo dance, but with a chorus line...

  • @GloriaD5767 And much less dignity.

  • @ReverendSyn HAHA! Yup!

  • when I first saw this video, I thought is was the best thing I ever saw. I didn't even know it was Spike Jonze... I didn't even know who he was... I totally thought it was for real. What an artist! Bravo!

  • More retarded bullshit where people pretend to be the performer then stick their crap up in front of the camera. This is a freaking suburban mall-walking troupe dancing to "Praise You."

  • Spike Jonze is hilarious. Awesome talent as a director.

  • IF YOU LIKE THIS VIDEO AND ARE NOT FOND OF THAT OTHER VIDEO WITH THAT KID DANCING IN A BOWLING ALLEY THEN JOIN US. TOMORROW AT 0-600 MILITARY TIME WE WILL MARCH TO NEARBY BOWLING ALLEYS AND THROW COPIES OF THAT YOUNG MAN's CD INTO THE DEEP FRYER. VIVA SR. FATBOY SLIM

  • i did this once but i was on crack and got arrested fuck

  • @bbestboy14 i lold

  • I should have listened to fatboy slim waaaaaay back. I knew a lot of his songs back in the day but I feel like I am just truly discovering him now.
