Yeah man, Lyle was my first guitar teacher in the bay area back in 82-83. He was such cool guy with wide ass finger span who could do all these cool scale runs. He hasn't changed and man he was the coolest guy. I am so pleased that he has made it in the music biz - very deserving. Lyle, you rock dude! And I rock because of you bro! Alex
Lyle Rocks! He was my guitar teacher for a short spell in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 70's. Later, I had the pleasure of playing his hit record on the airwaves, when I was a disc jockey in the San Francisco Bay Area. Sadly, I listened to "authority figures" telling me I couldn't make a living a musician. I was a girl, you know. Lyle has not only done it, but reinvented himself. He will be legendary. And he was a really wonderful and crazy guy! One of the best!
By the way, if you're reading this Lyle, this is Mark R. Haven't talked to Mike R. in a while but he's doing well too. Congrats on all your success dude and keep up the amazing work!
I can't believe I waited until today to look for Lyle on Youtube. We used to hang out and play music back in the 70's. We were in a band together playing highschool dances lol, sooo long ago. He is the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet, and funnier than hell. All he did was play guitar. I don't think he ever even had a paper route, just music for money. He was the only guy I knew who could play guitar, chew gum, and dance, without missing a beat. I'm so glad he has done so well.
Dont know about any one else, but Lyle gave me a guitar lesson in 1982 and I am still working on it. LOL I know alot of pseudo killer guitarists with attitudes and then there is Mr Workman. One of a kind genius and thats the reason he is where he is at.
I remember Lyle as far back as Bourgeois Tagg - guitar workshop with the drummer from Toto at Guitar Center in San Jose - little John Wedemeyer...a player since back in the day...his dreams have come true!
Lyle is a very cool guy. I chatted with him for a long time after a Frank Black show in Orlando. Its not surprising that so many people know him and have fond memories with him.
i have done a few tours with lyle-he is mad as a box of frogs.
He used to play guitar for frank black a few tours- i was doing the lights-awesome guy as well,we went the cinema to watch a woody allen movie in Paris.
