  • A danger for democracy is lies, distorted facts, and irresponsible news anchors and news groups.

A danger for democracy is Rupert Murdoch and co.

A comedy show that points out all those lies and distortions is a last wall against a totalitarian state where war and patriotism are idolized.

and then fox news trusted !! ? I read their viewer ratings are falling... i hope that is a trend.

    good riddance F..

  • What that dudes an fucking dumbass the mainstrem media is bias and wrong 9 times out of 10 the only people who trust them are morons who suck in all there bullshit as truth they all have an agenda if jon was so bad than why did he get 9/11 firefighters there healthcare when no one else did tell me that jag off

  • I think they use the term democracy too loosely here

    I prefer

    "informed democracy"

  • Fox News is the most trusted news channel? ffs

  • to a republican dissent is unamerican , u must follow blindly and never question anything

  • currently - If I want to listen to Obama bashers - yeah those same people who never once spoke up about GWBush....then I'll watch FOX

If I want to listen to conservatives preach out against homosexuality and then watch a report about one of those very conservatives getting caught in a homosexual scandal...then I'll watch the Daily Show. Who do you trust?

  • YEAH FREE SPEECH IS A PROBLEM FOR DEMOCRACY AND 2+2=5

  • Jon Stewart is a champion of the People.

Much respect for this great man, love to you Jon Stewart, thank you

  • I learn more with one minute of the Daily Show rather than an hour with FOX

  • Love the Daily show. I always get excited when it comes on... Ron Paul 2012

  • Jon Stewart draws out the contradictions and logical fallacies in politics and news media by using comedy. The fact that he is able to make mostly conservative political views and media look ridiculous probably means there ARE ridiculous things going on there. Bad for democracy? So people's stereotypes and belief systems shouldn't be challenged? If anything, controversy makes one actually think and question their beliefs. I don't think anyone could say Jon Stewart doesn't make one think.

  • It's purely comedic entertainment, as for now anyway. Jon can strike chords with people in all sorts of ways, and he does it all the time. I would only take their 'reporting' style seriously if they could have swayed opinion enough to say... end the Iraq war earlier? If shows like his have the power to ridicule presidents out of office, it must mean something.

  • I am a huge fan of Stewart and honestly I think he really hopes that one day the main stream media will come forward and "kick his ass" metaphorically speaking. Perhaps our democracy is in trouble if people are trusting a comedian over journalists but that doesn't make the comedian bad or even the problem. That means the journalists are totally failing. Jon is constantly challenging the main stream media to be better. I just hope one day they listen.

  • YES he is!

  • Dudes missing the point, Stewart does satire...

Who does the Kremlin, the Mexican cartels, the Taliban go after... Satirists... The fact that Stewarts and Colberts exist means democracy exists, shut them up...or if they r non existent then u know that democracy has been eroded from society.

  • The daily show is all that is left of democracy in the US and it is awesome!

  • Ok here it is. I'm an intelligent person so regardless of a broadcasts genre I'm smart enough to decide what is beneficial and accurate to me. Trying to be objective about the qualities of the daily show in terms of democracy is a joke. Firstly, Jon stewart speaks more sense than an american political commentator, but he doesn't expect you to take his words outright. His audience is normally well informed of politics outside of his program, NO US news stations are impartial, its spun agendas

  • @underoathuea NO news stations are impartial anywhere.

  • AMERICANS LISTEN FOX NEWS IS MAKING YOU STUPID VERY STUPID STOP WATCHING IT IT TRIED TO FRAME ONE OF ITS OWN OWNERS STOP LISTENING TO THESE IDIOTS-from India

  • very true

  • @Abbadon380 truth, FOX is evil and full of lies.

  • John Stewart? No worse than fox news which is a news channel.

  • wait, is that guy saying that Jon Stewart is equal to Fox News? Thats just st0000pid.

  • @TheSteelGeneraI actually it isn't. No i believe jon stewart is an intelligent person but you have to admit that even if its a small, moderate or large percentage there is a percentage of people amongst the daily show's viewers who take jon stewarts opinions and agree with them without researching or coming to an analytical conclusion by themselves. What they are arguing isn't the bias of the respective shows but how viewers simply take in the information without questioning.

  • Seriously? It's satire America. It's essentially freedom of speech.

  • @KungfuCow5 hopefully jon stewart is very BAD for democracy..democracy needs to get burned to the ground

  • @jeffthecoder No. As Churchill said all political systems are flawed but Democracy is the least flawed. What would you have in it's place?

  • @KungfuCow5 well, from what i understand, every society throughout time that got lazy and gave up their republic to become a democracy has invariably transitioned into an oligarchy..in a republic the law (the constitution) rules..in a democracy, majority rules (51% rules over the 49% even when 51% say you no longer own your home)..in a republic, 51% doesnt trump rule of law..this is why a jury is not a mob rule..it is one of the last few things in the usa that is republic (and not democracy)

  • @KungfuCow5 when a republic becomes a democracy, and the society gets too big to count every individual vote, they decide to hire representative groups to vote on laws for them..then these representatives (politicians) gain power and eventually rule over the people (oligarchy)..as seen in rome (and in the usa at this moment), the people get poorer, the govt offers social welfare, then decide to invade other countries, then everyone goes broke..game over

  • Jon Stewart's brother Larry Leibowitz is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the New York Stock Exchange.

  • @westwind85 yes, it seems that jewish people are the most economically savvy among us..when i was a teen i talked about buying a house, a jewish friend of mine said "i wont buy a house, ill buy a duplex or an apartment complex (which are comparably priced), live in one of the units, and rent out the others to pay for it all"

  • Fox is anything BUT telling the truth on their so called news program. They manage to lie constantly.

  • Look, Jon Stewart simply shows us how ridiculous our politicans are. He really hits the nail on the head. Politicans have always shaped their platforms and speeches for the people they're speaking to at the moment which really makes them liars, skilled in the art of deception. As for FOX News, you cannot have a 24/7 news network and not be full of contradictions. They are unreliable because they lean toward the right just as MSNBC leans left. Can't be balanced when you not being objective.

  • Oh no, I'm "uninformed". I should carefully listen to what liberals say. I wouldn't want to miss a shred of their valuable information. Climate change, energy, the U.S. economy, defense - they just know it all. All their positions are indisputable, no others are worth considering. I don't want to be a racist anymore - John Stewart save me !

  • is freedom of speech is not absolute, it is absolutely worthless.

popular opinion does not need protecting.

all attempts to silence people = fascism.

anyone who thinks a comedy show (or anything else on tv) is supposed to tell people how to behave = a fucking retard who doesn't realise he is a fascist.

  • Comedy, cabaret or theater aimed at political issues is useful for democracy, even if it were only for the cathartic effect it offers.

  • The Daily Shows is good for democracy only to the extendt hat you think that "all media is conservative" amnd that an equally biased liberal "news source" is needed.

Stewart wants it both ways, he wants to play news anchor and attack other news organizations, yet hold the "comedian" card whenever he's called out for his own bias.

  • @Vebinz John Stewart atleast does research on the topics he speaks upon and doesn't tell outright lies- which beats Fox News. You don't have to agree with the opinions he builds on top of the facts, but atleast they aren;t opinions built upon thin air.

  • @neverfearchrisishere

But that's just not true. And I'll give a perfect example:

Stewart spent years making anti-Saudi jokes, about "US dependence on Saudi oil" etc....

Then a couple of years ago he had a guy who wrote a book on oil, and in the interview Stewart expressed shock on finding out that the US imports most of its oil not from Saudi Arabia but from Canada and Mexico.

That's not someone who does much research before mouthing off...in other words just like the Fox News monkeys.

  • @Vebinz Erm. you know that the vast majority of the massive oil excavations in northern canada and the mexican gulf are very recent, as rising oil prices made extraction of hard to reach deposits worthwhile. The facts changed - his initial research was correct.

A Decade ago the US was very dependant upon Saudi oil.... after 9/11 america had a massive drive to find new sources

US oil import sources change drastically year on year, for example Mexico supplied 20% less in 2010 than in 2009

  • @neverfearchrisishere

You're needlessly defending him. He spent years bashing the Saudis yet never bothered to spend half a minute looking up US imports from there.

The guy is a buffoon and a hypocrite, is all.

You can still like him for being funny, but don't say he's smart or honest becuase he isn't.

  • @Vebinz If you consider Comedy Central's The Daily Show an actual "news source", then you are very confused person.

  • @CoolerKing37

He covers news events and interviews politicians, and does both with the same bullshit shallowness of the news cable channels that me makes fun of.

  • @Vebinz You mean that bullshit shallowness with contributors like their "Senior Black Correspondent" and segments such as "Clusterfuck to the White House"? Riiiiiiight....You do know what satire and parody are, right?

  • @CoolerKing37

What's a "satirist" doing interviewing politicians then?

MAD magazine is satire, so is the Onion, but not he "Daily Show" because they've inserted themselves in real politics.

  • @Vebinz So doing interviews automatically disqualifies you from being part of satirical comedy? So what does that make Carson, Leno, Letterman, and Conan?

  • @CoolerKing37

No, these people rarely cover news events or critique news organizations, and they generalyl interview poltiical figurea round election time.

There is no comparison between them and Steward's show.

I repeat: he's a hypocrite who screams "I'm just a comedian" even as he does the exact same thing that "serious pundits/news hosts" do.

Look at his bullshit defense for his rally and denying Bush's war criminality.

  • @Vebinz All those shows I've mentioned have had numerous politicians/pundits as guest stars (Obama was on The Tonight Show, for chrissakes). The Daily Show is no different from them or SNL or The Onion in what their programs do, which is comedy. Your holding StewarT's show to a high journalisitc standard that they obviously not trying to achieve.

  • @CoolerKing37

How do you explain his constant bringing of political guests? How to explain his appearances on other news show? How to explain how rally?

Again, Stewart keeps getting into politics in a biased manner, yet screams "I'm just a comedian" whenever he's called on it.

  • @Vebinz 1. The show's subject is politics, so there will be guests that are relevant to the theme 2. So? Tons of comedians have appeared on news shows. They're called interviews 3. You mean that rally held for political moderates that was telling people and the media to chill out when it comes to hyperbole?

  • @Vebinz Jon Stewart has never said "I'm just a comedian'. He says 'I'm a comedian first'. He takes the piss out of ridiculous politicians of both parties, it just happens that the most ridiculous ones are Republicans.

  • @timhately09

No he doesn't. He's stated "we're a comedy show" and some such variation of the statement.

Yet he keeps interviewing politicians as well as people like Bill Kristol (whom he's had on many times), and almost never asks them anything meaningful.

Again, MAD magazine is satire; "The Daily Show" isn't. It's more like the "Fox and Friends" or even the Glenn beck show, political/news, with a humorous presentation, but one that is partisan and biased.

  • @Vebinz So you have admitted that he has not said "I'm just a comedian". You just shot yourself in the foot buddy, you have proved my fundamental point. Democracy is served by airing all points of view. Partisan and biased have two subtly different meanings, of which you are obviously unaware. Fox and Friends make no claims of being anything but partisan, and Glenn Beck has admitted he is a "rodeo clown".

  • @timhately09

Are you joking or being stupid?

Re-read what I wrote above "He's stated 'we're a comedy show' and some such variation of the statement."

That INCLUDES "I'm just a comedian".

He covers politics and interviews politicians, yet does so from the same biased and yes, partisan manner as the same networks he attacks. And his excuse for that hypocrisy is always along the lines of "it's okay, because it's a comedy show".

I've given an examples above with the Saudi and Bil Kristol thing.

  • @Vebinz That DID NOT include "I'm just a comedian". If that was the case, you would have included that in your riposte. It is illuminating that you have now resorted to personal abuse. Stewart has always admitted he is partisan, he said as much when he boned and filleted Chris Wallace on Fox.

He also stated that he voted of George Bush Snr. Look at some of the comments he makes about Obama's and the Democrat' s more gutless decisions. IT IS A COMEDY SHOW - on the Comedy Channel.

  • @timhately09

Yes, IT DOES INCLUDE "I'm justy a comedian"

What part of "and some such variation of the statement" don't you understand?

And correction: it WAS a comedy show, but Stewart turned it into a political show done with SOME (mostly unfunny and tired) humor.

I know he's your god, but the man is a dishonest biased hypocrite, is all.

  • @Vebinz I've understood all of your stupid comments. Jesus wept, if you despise Jon Stewart so much, stick to Fox and Friends. Your opinion seems to be in the vast minority of people who follow YouTube (not that that proves much). Fox and Friends, Bill O'Reilly, Hannity et al are all comedy shows, they just don't admit it. Take a pill and lie down, you'll feel better in the morning.

  • @timhately09

The fact is, you have been brainwashed via media propaganda my friend (i.e Fox, CNN, etc..)

    Solution: WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!

  • @boang69 I have absolutely no idea what point you are endeavouring to make. Explain yourself, my confused friend.

  • @boang69 I can only assume that you have sent this reply to the wrong address. At least I hope you have, otherwise I have serious doubts as to your intelligence. Please illuminate.

  • @Vebinz Further to my previous post, here is a direct quote from the Fox website of Stewart's interview with Chris Wallace:

When Wallace latched onto Stewart's routine of explaining himself as being only a comedian, Stewart lashed back. "I said I'm a comedian first, I never said I'm only a comedian. Being a comedian is much harder than what you do. Being a comedian I put material though a process, a comedic process."

    Game, set and match.

  • @timhately09

Typical Stewart fan-boy: anyone who criticizes their god must be a Fox viewer.

As for his quote, he's a liar since years ago he always stated he's juts a comedian. He's a hypocrite, so no surprise there. I've already given the example of Saudi-oil bit.

He likes to use the word "satire", but you can't call yourself a "Satirist" and then give kiss-ass interviews to the people you're supposed to "satirize".

Tell me, how many interviews with political figures has MAD magazine done?

  • @timhately09

    "Game, set and match."

    What are you, seven?

  • @Vebinz Good comeback dickhead. You don't watch Fox? Bullshit. FYI I am also a Fox viewer. I watch everything to get all points of view, even stupid and dishonest ones like yours. I gave you a direct quote to back up my point, give me a DIRECT quote from Stewart to back up yours, not just a quote from someone saying that's what he said.

  • @timhately09

Hey monkey-brain, you want me to go back years to all the interviews he's done. This isn't even debatable. Watch his interview with Maddow, when he states he thinks of himself as like Jerry Seinfeld.

Even in your stupid quote, the fact that he's even asked that question proves that it's a point he's made, or is the interviewer also making stuff up?

And no I don't watch Fox News of any US bullshit news. I leave that to lemmings like you.

Repeat: see any MAD magazine interviews?

  • @Vebinz The fact that he was asked that question proves that the interviewer was as useless at research as you are. It is not hard to find evidence as to what he has stated, use Google, that's what it's for.

Satire: the use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like, in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.

Mad magazine and the Daily Show are both satirical venues, inserting themselves into politics. You can't stand JS because he is successful and can think on his feet.

  • @CoolerKing37 And simultaneously NOT holding Fox News to a high journalistic standard.

  • @Vebinz How many times, you dimwit, have people got to tell you that he has never said "I'm just a comedian". He says "I'm a comedian first". Do you keep repeating this lie because you have a right-wing agenda, or are you just plain stupid? And you didn't even get his name right, "Stewart", not "Steward".

  • Yes it is good. It holds the so called news up to the light and ridicules the crappy reporting. To bad the news can’t be sued.

  • @samten10a

"Yes it is good. It holds the so called news up to the light and ridicules the crappy reporting. "

Which is why it isn't good. It ridicules but offers no alternatives. Like the smarmy kid in school who makes fun of everyone while he himself is far from perfect.

  • nope.

  • there is no way to have a government and not have it abused but the less rules you have the less loopholes there are and the less chance there is for corruption with too many laws life becomes chaotic and unbalanced, laws are in place to control people so the more rules you put in place the less freedom you can have, even in a society with one law you are not truly free the only law that holds absolute freedom is the law of nature and it isn't always fare but at least your free in the true sense

  • @MaximumKahnage to some extent I agree, but if we throw EVERYTHING out, the gangs prevail. So a minimum of laws, but some laws are required. With a safety net for those who cant take care of themselves is ideal

  • @MaximumKahnage

Less laws means less loopholes? That's the dumbest thing I've ever read.

  • the guy in the crowd seemed a bit too impressionable in the sense that it seemed he didn't like Jon Stuart or his show based on what someone else told him where as everyone I know and talk to almost word for word comes to the same conclusion as the man on the panel it's informative and funny, a different perspective and when is that ever bad? he's an example of some one trapped by the bullshit and brainwashing fed to people all over the globe, its sad

  • If you dont get stewarts jokes then you are dead.

  • Its funny when you listen to a clip with people talking in a rational and intelligent Q&A then you scroll down and read the crap, agressive, nasty comments people leave.

  • No, democracy is inherently aggressive and nasty. It's mob saying you pay and do what they want, or else get thrown in cage. There's nothing intelligent or rational about it. They're on the same level as the commentators.

  • Comment removed

  • @TubingWithMyGnomies O'Reilly does commentating, Stewart is kinda trying to do his own gig. One is on a legit news source(that has been ranked #1 for the past 9 years btw) and the other is an ideologue, who THINKS he is.

  • Point 1:The person who doesn't know what is going on, is not helping democracy, regardless of whether they watch Jon Stewart.

Point 2: Jon Stewart is a sign that Democracy exists It is denying his rights that is bad for democracy.

  • Jon Stewart is a fucking Win. democrat or republican or what the hell ever you are you must agree he does two good things for this dumb ass country. one, he explains whats going on so you have current events and an understanding of politics... two: he's funny so he takes the serious out of it... life is to short to be so serious... its not fucking permanent.

  • @shanemorrissey6 He's at a point where he isn't funny anymore. He's essentially a news source for liberals, without officially claiming to be that. He hides behind his "comedian" label. He is a hardcore, radical, college professor-type liberal...just like Seth McFarlane. His entire audience is filled with zombies, who applaud him for everything he says. All he does is bash republicans, democrats who aren't being liberal enough, Fox(especially Glenn Beck), and cherry-pick when someone stumbles.

  • @TubingWithMyGnomies Neither are funny. Jon would be much funnier if he just stayed with comedy. All he does, is bash Fox, and cherry pick people who sneeze the wrong way, or trip up. He might have used to be funny...but that was forever ago. Times have changed. Dennis Miller and Ron Silver used to be liberal, and then realized that there are countries out to get us, and being Mr. Nice Guy isn't gonna get us anywhere.

  • Comment removed

  • @TubingWithMyGnomies Watching Jon Stewart isn't going to help you be bipartisan. If you think for a second he isn't a hard-core liberal, think again.

  • i think a major problem is ppl want to see each other as enemy. it suits some ppl well to keep up division and conflict . but if weve a goal as a collective nation, that the interest of the left and right are the same, that our country does well, it benefits noone to make the other the enemy. but the parties try to make the other look bad to gain power. hoping the other will screw up or problems arise while theyre in office.

  • You shouldn't get your news source from simply one source. Because its opinion based and you want to get the news. To avoid a fixed opinion the brain needs to see everything in the light. Reading the paper is also good, but don't just do it from one source. Because You can have the same poll down by three different groups and the results are going to be different.News isn't bad, but when you start agreeing with these people ignorantly turn off the tv. CNN, FOX, ABC,NBC, and CBS doesn't matter.

  • now everybody can see our points and can decide which ones he or she convince him or her more. i personally can see your points in a way and in politics you have to compromise. noch eine schöne woche dir!

  • @jagnole101: so what is about jim demint, what is about these cds by chip seltman, trent lott and so on.. there ARE racial slurs in the manifesto of the republicans. your other point is a big topic and id would take far too long to discuss about that. in germany there is a big discussion about the proportion of women in economy right now and i absolutely support this claim, because we see that it just doesnt work otherwise, im rather a "proportion-woman" than a housewife. but i think...

  • Short answer: Yes, it is.

  • FOX NEWS ZOMBIES!

  • i forgot: be honest with me: how many people in the usa dont want to work? i bet not many and i think if you create a good social state it wouldnt be more. you have to give the people hope, a prospect, a future. a good education system is the basic. as long as work isnt worthless, and a social state would never ever make it worthless, people will want to work! discrimination of minitories like homosexuals, immigrants, and so on (like republicans do) is exactly the wrong course to realize that.

  • @TheTrippleRose We don't not hire people because of race or them being gay. As long as you are responsible, and qualified, you should get hired. What democrats do is try to hire minorities and gays chiefly BECAUSE they are gay and in the minority. Affirmative action in itself is racist, and wrong...because it's increasing the chances of not hiring those who are qualified. Most recently, the Coast Guard was bringing in black females..but wouldn't take me, because I had to be off my ocd medicine

  • first of all: its never too late, theres a cool german song saying "its not your fault, that the world is like it is, it would only be your fault if it stays the way it is!". Then: obama wants socialism???! thats new to me. i think the us really needs to reform: for example the health system: if you lose your job you lose your health insurence? medicare and medicaid seem to be pretty strange to an european. the finance reform wasnt that good i guess, but obama is better than every republican.

  • @TheTrippleRose Oh yeah dude! Its never to late!

1,2,3,4 kill the rich to feed the poor!

  • Jon Stewart was the ONLY ONE who talked about the "Zadroga bill" a bill that provides healthcare for 9/11 First Responders.

Last week the bill was filibustered by the GOP in the Senate.

Last Friday, Stewart dedicated his show to the 9/11 First Responders and the bill.

People started calling republicans on that so now some republican senators announced that they might vote yes.

Jon Stewart isn't good for Democracy, he is a FUCKING HERO!

  • Jon Stewart's political agenda is to entertain.

  • 3. his audience is brainwashed? Oh c'mon, what are the people who trust fox then??? Id say everybody who ONLY trusts (one kind of) media is brainwashed and thats ones own fault. wheres the problem in finding satire funny? you dont think thats the only type of media people inform theirselves about politics, do you???

i hope you see what i mean, im really sorry for my bad english.

  • "bundestag", because we learned from our mistakes in the weimarer republic.

    2. Of course stewart would be out of job without fox news! Thats SATIRE! There has always been satire, e.g. on hitler, on stalin, even on W. Brandt and of course on Obama or Beck! Satire is there for giving the opportunity of a controversial opinion, which is obviously the basic of DEMOCRACY.

  • @Jagnole101 U mean Dummkopf? Bitte, lern erst Deutsch bevor du beleidigst... 1. I'm tired of this whole "conservatives are better" discussion. Yes, dems are doing a lot of mistakes, Obama also does: Guntánamo, Afghanistan and so on. But every party is doing mistakes. its hard to change sth in the us, the conservatives are blocking the reforms. But all in all i think the main problem of the us is the majority-election-system: there are only 2 big parties?! In germany we got about 5 in the

  • @TheTrippleRose I came close to talking like my ancestors..gotta give myself credit. I don't understand why America needs to reform. Socialism won't work here. It's over 200 years late to try it. If we were to try it now, it would be a disaster. Reps believe that when you work hard for your money, it shouldn't go to people who don't try..we believe in lower taxes to let businesses grow and hire more people..and a stable military. Look into us..we have stupid asses, but overall, we are better.

  • @Jagnole101 You got powned by TheTripleRose.

  • @VictumRoManius Everyone is a victim, right liberal? lol I love your name VictumRoManius

  • @Jagnole101 conservative =selfish homophobic warmongering gun nut anti enviroment glenn beck ass fucking let the rich get richer at he expense of the poor religious idiots i got mine go fuck yourself and live in your car

  • @phildirt3 I don't hate gays, you dumbass. I just don't believe in affirmative action, and hiring people just because they are gay, or part of the minority. I believe that people should get hired, no matter who they are...if they are qualified. (Special people are the only exception) If someone gay, or black, or asian want a job and are qualified, then hire them. That's how it should be. It was back when y'all weren't pussies, but in both world wars, there were democrats who were presidents btw

  • Thats so funny! "fox news is the most trusted news operation in the country" I'm 14 and from germany and even I know that fox, glenn beck and the tea party are the biggest bullshit americans ever invented. I mean, I love the states, but.. what the hell is going on in your country? Yes, obama isnt jesus. But how can people forget WHY there is a financial crisis? Do those people who vote republican have a memory of a brain-dead goldfish? Jon stewart is great. The usa are great. Obama is amazing!!!

  • @TheTrippleRose Wow, somebody that thinks like me! I thought I would be crazy! Thank you for existing!

  • @TheTrippleRose I love it. "people who don't have political knowledge don't get the jokes." What she fails to realize, is that there is a Pavlovian response to anything he does. His audience is brainwashed. I don't see how you can bash Fox News, when if it weren't for Fox, Jon Stewart would be out of a job. All he does is bash Fox, and republicans. You ever thought about the crisis coming partially because of the liberal congress at the end of Bush's administration? Stay in Europe, duum khoff.

  • @Jagnole101 Bullshit

  • @TheTrippleRose yes!! you legend, i never understand how americans can be so blinkered as to their own 'news' misleading them! - love germany by the way - you guys party hard!!

  • @TheTrippleRose Don't worry, it's just a bunch of angry middle aged dumb asses. Most informed americans don't listen to the standard news. We go to alternative sources like Huffington Post.

  • If he just came out and started an official news source, without cowering behind the comedian label, I'd be fine with that. But what he's doing is really messed up. He's using a shield.

  • John Stewart is just as liberal and one sided as MSNBC is. When the writers went on strike what happened then? The Daily Show gas gone down hill since Colbert took the spot light IMO.

  • Isnt part of democracy listening to all views and making a rational decision?

  • comparing the daily show with fox news is like comparing JFK to George Bush.fox news is the most watched news.people don't watched fox for news, we watch for enternaiment (spelled wrong). I only trust Jon stewart and stephen colbert

  • Stewart is controlled opposition. He's an attempt to suck in those who realise there is something wrong with the left/right paradigm and distrust both parties.

Those who are fully awake know that a group of international bankers control all sides of every Western government, and that people like Stewart and Colbert, who while being comic geniuses are merely propaganda mouthpieces.

E.g. Colbert justifying the destruction of borders and influx of immigrants to collapse the economy.

  • I agree with the guy that if more people rely on Jon Stewart as a news source, both Jon Stewart and I would be sad because those listeners are as bad as people who watch only Fox or CNN or CNBC.

However, I disagree that he is not helping our democracy. I believe in the one guy's statement about how Jon forces us to see through a different lens. His critical thinking mixed with satire is a brilliant and entertaining way of seeing the world differently, which is what news should be.

  • Fox News is the most watched "news" channel much like McDonald's is the most popular "restaurant" in the country.

  • @Syrinx69 Sad but true.

American culture has become morbidly obese.

    Instant gratification.

Not a particularly sound basis point for progress.

  • @Syrinx69 lol. I'm gonna have to remember that one.

  • He never purported to be a "news show". He has stated repeatedly that his genre is comedy. This is the huge fundamental difference between him and, say, Glen Beck and Fox News. They claim to be "Fair and Balanced". John Stewart makes no such claim. At least Stewart is being honest . For all the screaming about the First Amendment that the right wing does, they sure don't like it when some has something useful to say that is contrary to their views, even if it's simply a satire.

  • I think we should bring Jon Stewart down a notch, or two.

He is way to powerful, liberals think he is some kind truth telling oracle.

Politics is not a joke, the decisions that are made in Washington DC, will affect our life. That is not something we can laugh about.

  • @saper321 Have you ever watched the show?

  • @bmwdood

No never did. All I know about outside world I learned from Fox News.

  • @saper321 You clearly have no sense of humor. We laugh so we don't cry because our government is such a big disappointment. No one thinks he is an oracle but we all love that he calls shit as he see's it and is actual fair in his views. When he makes a mistake or says something really stupid he apologizes and owns up to it. He has NEVER made the claim that he's telling real new. His target audience is people who are already aware of whats going on in the world. His show is a breath of fresh air.

  • @toungetied98

    You are humoring me.

  • @saper321 Good

  • why stewarts simply very good for democracy is the fact that he demonstrates critical thinking and satire. if americans had slighly better critical thinking skills fox news wud be half what it is now.

  • @adzug Correction. If it weren't for Fox News, John Stewart wouldn't EXIST. He makes a living on bashing Fox. Let's be honest. Libs hate Fox, because it's not afraid to reveal coward, anti-American liberals for who they truly are. John Stewart wants to talk about how Fox is a biased news source. The Daily Show IS a news source(for liberals). John Stewart is not a comedian anymore. He hides behind that label so he can be a news source for hardcore libs, without technically being a news source.

  • @Jagnole101 well we disagree, but id just tell you that liberals dont hate america or are anti american. if you car was running poorly youd have it checked out and try to fix it. this is often what i hear ppl complain about. sayin g its anti american to criticise.no i love america but if i see a prob i want it fixed and not accepted cuz you cant criticise a thing cuz it means you dont love it. hope you can see what i mean . cheers

  • @adzug We certainly do disagree. And the metaphor regarding the car is, that if there is a flat tire...do you get a brand new car, or do you fix the flat tire? You fix the tire, adzug. You don't change the entire way of America because there needs to be some tweaks here and there. Yes, health care should be reformed, but not like how Obama tried to fix it. The American Dream seems to be frowned upon now. People are still enjoying pain in CA and NY by continuing to elect far-out liberals.

  • @adzug It seems like when a liberal goes out and talks about how America was bad in the past, he gets a Nobel Prize. Why should you get a pat on the back for something like that? It also seems like whenever the military is getting dissed, you guys are the ones who are the main suspects. Look at all the bashing that goes on at Cal Berkley at Marines? California should basically be it's own country. NY, I see potential in...but Cali, with Hollywood and the pockets of communists is just too extreme

  • @Jagnole101

I don't think Stewart suffers delusions about his show being unbiased. It's political commentary and I'm sure most thinking people, be they liberal or conservative, can recognize the difference between news and commentary. Besides, the only thing that makes "news" programs different from shows like The Daily Show or the O'Reilly Factor is that the commentary is more subtle.

  • @makinuptherules I see what you're saying

  • @adzug Exactly. We don't always agree with what he says, but that makes it better.

  • @adzug you have to have some balance from all these right wing dickwipes

  • @phildirt3 You really are a Jon Stewart fan. You are just like him, hating Fox News, because it's the only news station that will reveal radical liberals(who hate America, and the USA) for who they really are. You guys hate on Glenn Beck, because you are scared to hear the truth. You hate it.

  • @Jagnole101 no you homophobic anti enviroment war mongering religious piece of dogwipe beck you and all the rest of the tea party are out of your fucking minds

  • @phildirt3 Liberal= self-hating, bitter, anti-military, anti-American, weakling, weak-minded losers...who paint the rich as bad, so they can win over the lower class(majority). You guys give out handouts in exchange for votes. You guys are the party of phonies and Starbucks scientists. I wish all of you would just move to Cuba, where you belong. If the tsunami had a mind of its own, I wish it would get smart and wash away all the commies and radicals, and help make this country great again.

  • @TubingWithMyGnomies Prove me that my below comment is somehow incorrect. Btw, using big boy words, doesn't mean anything, until you can back it up. You hate Fox News, because you hate the truth. You only hear what you want to hear, which is why you love Jon Stewart. He's perfect for you. Jon Stewart is by far the most partisan person I know, other than Bill Maher. I am for whoever has the most conservative principles, whether they be a democrat or republican. There IS a Left and Right, too.

  • Comment removed

  • @TubingWithMyGnomies You changed the subject, though...I never talked about O'Reilly trying to do his own thing like Stewart. I said Fox is a legit news source, and Stewart was trying to be a news source for liberals, without technically being a news source.

  • Comment removed

  • @TubingWithMyGnomies What is labeled as "conservative", seems to have helped this country more. Conservative beliefs feel we should create jobs, strengthen the military, lower taxes(for all btw...not just the rich, like liberals think) to help businesses grow...to, intern help job growth. Reagan built up the military, created more jobs, lowered the interest rate and debt. Bush 2 became more and more liberal, which is why he sucked in the end. Liberalism IS the problem. Too much deficit spending

  • Comment removed

  • @TubingWithMyGnomies You're trying too hard...and I completely understand what you are saying, despite disagreeing with it, completely.

  • @Jagnole101 its not blk wht dude. each person is thinking whats best. we disagree does that mean in my eyes youre the one hatin america? no. try to keep emotion out of seein a thing for what it really is not what we want it to be

  • The reason I watch Jon Stewart's show is because he picks everything apart. Plus he kicks the crap out of Fox news pretty often

  • Is Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" Good for Democracy?

    hell yes !

  • Haha. Fox news, the most trusted news organization?

    Poor Americans.

  • @gadzy

Indeed. I think there is a big difference between most trusted and most trustworthy, and that difference is Fox News.

  • fox news......you gotta be joking me,people like glenn beck.....i mean how frickn dumb do they think people are.

  • I can't even listen to Ira Glasses cloying voice, let alone his stories!!! He's the reason I never listen to T.A.L. !!!

  • If there is someone lucid and good for democracy right now that one is JON STEWART! I really hope he lives for 100 years. Of course, FOX News fans find hard to cope with such a irreverent and clever guy, that unmasks all the bullshit FOX says. FOX is dangerous for Democracy, not Jon.

  • the show is democracy
