The quality of the atmosphere of this game is astonishing. SHODAN is the best video game villain ever, the voice acting of the audio logs, the story, the music/audio, everything, top notch. If it had been made with a better engine and not released in competition with Half Life, they'd still be making sequels to this day. Probably a film too. Le'ts hope Uwe Boll doesn't get his hands on it!!
They're all diary entries. There is only one survivor alive, Dr. Janice Polito, as you will learn to know at the beginning of the game. She guides you throughout the game.
dead space is basically system shock 2.5. i mean, you have to find poisonous capsules and inject them into the ventilation system to clear a biomass on the hydroponics deck... sound familiar? but I loved dead space, it was a hell of a lot better than bioshock :/

DomzDream - I agree. When I played this game I was creeping around the entire time. Always checking whats behind me. It was such an exciting and atmospheric game. 2000 EGM top games gave this one BEST SOUND DESIGN and SCARIEST GAME (Since it missed their 1999 top games). I played it with the AUREAL 3D sound card and it made a HUGE difference in sound quality and positional audio. To this day I want to see a SS3 & a GOOD movie based on the game. I always yearn for SS2! I want those good ol days

Hello, DomzDream! I used to drink and maybe smoke a bowl while playing SS2. That was a lot of fun. But guess what? I NEVER finished the game! It got too difficult and I got lost - couldn't find my objective. I must complete it! AND: Yes! I heard about DEAD SPACE and I saw the interview with the developer and they're trying create something original. No ALIENS copy, or SUNSHINE or THE THING. The Zero G magnetic boots and outside the hull scenes are stunning. I cant wait!

I mean, you can see these guys took special attention into the psychology of sound, timing of scare factor, all that. And those growls of those monsters give me chills man.

Well, I've played Dead Space (I'm playing it the 2nd time now) and I honestly have to say it's the scariest game I've EVER played! I have to admit though. I wouldnt want to play this game on shrooms, dude. Or weed. It's scary on it's own. I play this in total darkness, loud. I'll be getting a 47" inch full HI DeF TV later in the year, so I'm looking foreward to the fear. This game was everything I expected and more. I loved it!
