That first poorly executed Ippon Seoi Nage is clear evidence that this comes from Judo but had lost most of it's Ashi Waza techniques. And apparently this isn't that good of a dojo from their training... they're not even sweating!
They need to stop calling Gracie Jujitsu, just Jujitsu. its GRACIE Jujitsu, NOT jujitsu. It's more of a Judo. The real Jujitsu is not available outside Japan and resembles Taijutsu more than anything. So this is Judo with newaza emphasis plus a move or two that the Gracies added.
This is why Judo (and BJJ by extension) is so suited to competition. There is a defeinite focus on singular combat in both Judo and BJJ, whereas 'traditional' jujitsu trains for specific combat scenarios with multiple foes in mind. I'm not saying that a judoka or a BJJ stylist can't defend against multiple attackers, but I have never seen anything in the overall Judo or BJJ concepts that deal with the practical matter of melee combat. I've witnessed it in Jujitsu.
please couls somebody tell me, what's the diffrence BJJ and THE jiu-jitsu? dont start about Ground technics, cos is part of jiujitsu and they call it "NE-WAZA". thanx
jiu-jitsu is almost same than krav-maga, its include almost all same techniques. Its combination of muay thai, judo, BJJ, eskrima. There is a punch, kicks, elbow strikes, chokes, arm,-and neck locks, controlpositions and that kind of stuff.Jiu-jitsu is really efective and bases on simple, real life sitsuations.
not martial art is like grav maga, is military system 10 heavy armed soldiers against one palestinian boy throwing a stone! any way , in jiujutsu we use also kicks, punches, schoks,an go one we call them atemi waza , geri waza tsukami,tehodoki's,etc..., thanx for trying to explain to me any way .
The main dif that I can identify is the origins and focus. BJJ actually developed from a predominantly judo-based approached (as this was Helio Gracie's primary system under the Maeda lineage). Judo essentially developed from principles extracted from jujitsu by Higaro Kano. Jujitsu had been part of the ovarall warrior education in Japan for centuries for effective combat in all situations. Judo's main focus has always been to defeat an opponent by leverage and technique...
All martial arts have somethings in common, but the thing , i try to explain to some people , you cant practice BJJ for a year and think you can beat the world, martial arts has no jury or rules and its a life time training ! peace
BJJ is Brazilian Jujitsu modified from Judo, it's a a sport based art. Japanese Jujitsu or "THE Jujitsu" lol Is a grappling system created by the Samurai of Feudal Japan, you cannot punch someone in armor, so if you clinch, they cannot swing their sword to hurt you, you're too close, you can't punch them, armor stops it, BUT you can slam them on the ground and bend their arm the wrong way, armor won't stop that! So they created a style to beat armor, also they grapple with swords, chains and knife
I respect this. On one hand I like the self esteem I get from a well executed TKD kick, but on the other hand I like the ground fighting style that is arguably more practicle in a 'real' scenario- IF it was life or death and there was no option to walk or run away.
I don't just want Jujitsu though, I'd like to get a well rounded Martial art that covers aspects of self defense and ground fighting, but also the elements of striking with hand and foot.
Too bad learning all these stuff wont help. Because just "1" punch and that person will sue you and u went to jail. LOL. That's for entertainment nowadays. =D arcobatics.
judo has been developed in the 19th century solely as sport, whereas jiu-jitsu (ju-utsu or yawara) is _the_ fighting style of the japanese samurai rooted in the 8th century (Kammu period).
bjj is derived from early judo and hes not using muay thai but just a technique from it as a distraction to the takedown.Pity their strikes are so poor.

Krav has more than one level, albeit The military side is where it originated With Imi, but theres 4 different areas,
Civilian: Block+move counter/disarm, run
VIP: Block+move, counter/supress, move said VIP
Law enforcement: Block+move, counter/disarm, subdue, handuff etc
And finally Military, Block+move, counter/disarm, Kill
all have the same basic movements then specialised "finishes" but all are based the same
