  • All my lights are working again after this fix. Thanks for this video!

  • @AgentStarke Right on! yw.

  • Good question, I am not sure what is going on in your situation....but I do know that when your daytime running lights are on, they will have similar aim as the highbeams (so they may look like highbeams) except they are much more dim. Hope that helps a bit :)

  • Great vid I had a question I have a 95 accord and I did not know it had day running lights I bought it like that lol so I was messing with the low beams jus to fix a Hid and I noticed I did something and I guess my high beams were on but were low and not normal high and I plugged in my hid and it went away :( is it the dlr?

  • Thanks for the video, I also just fixed my wifes 2002 Civic.

Right hand headlight now works again, although still don't have DRL's.

I must have missed one, so I will try again.

  • @MetroFordSalesLtd Im sorry I cannot be of more help to you as I am not a fancy mechanic by any means but stumbled apon this trick online and decided to make a video. If you have any luck pls drop by to share.

  • Just stumbled upon your video, and I fixed my wife's 2001 Civic. I had to dig a bit further on the civic since there are two components: The DRL module and the relays. The module is buried on the far left side of the steering column, close to the left wall. I had to take down two panels in order to see this. Sneak Honda bastards lol! I soldered the joints that looked dull and voila it worked!

  • I have a 2001 accord, and my DRL light had been coming on and off for a while. My DRL wasn't working, then I noticed my high beams weren't either, only my regular beams.

I tried this fix, resoldering all of the relay contacts and my DRL is still not working, but at least I got my high beams back.

  • @boothash Sorry it didnt work for you totally, i guess you still have to look at that ugly yellow light on your cluster, that sucks.

  • Thank you! my Honda 2002 DRL is now fix thanks to you!

  • @MrMau001 Yay! you can use the money you saved on something nice for someone nice.

  • Some one should kik the ass of the honda engenere to keep running this box

    year after year

  • @jmbisson11 xD

  • Great job on your video DIY. I removed the DRL module from a friends 2004 RSX and repaired 8 broken soldering welds on the circuit board. A good magnify glass helped me to find all the broken welds. This is a quick, easy, and cheap fix for anyone that doesn't want to hosed at the Stealership! Plus, I made this repair on company time! :) She is so happy now that her DRL dash light is off and you saved her $200 plus. We both would like to thank you for creating this great video. Thanks! :)

  • @kawininja750 LOL @ stealership. yw.

  • dude you rock i have a 98 acura 2.3 cl ive had this problem for at least a year watched your video and fixed it in about 45 mins and 15 of that was trying to find a neibour with a soldering gun thanks keep sharing

  • @SuperBeaner68 Sharing is caring lol. Cheers fellow canuck.

  • you saved me 200 bucks plus tax! THANK YOU

  • @worldwarfifth lol, right on.

  • Work on honda insight 2001!

  • Sure helped me, thank you!!!!!

  • @beiskers :)

  • Fixed my 99 accord no problem. Took the board to some local electronic shop and they redid all the large connections and it only cost me two coffees. Dealer wanted 189 bucks just for module and 300 to replace in house. what a rip off. Thanks for taking the fear out of a simple repair.

  • @manitobasailor You are very welcome. I am so glad I saved someone a buck :)

  • Brutha!! Thank you very much! I have a 98 Accord coupe, and this problem's been plaguing me for a long time. after seeing this video, I did it in 25 minutes! Thanks a lot! Cheers from Montreal ;)

  • @matt965vtec yw.

  • Thank you guys .... I did resolder the cracks of the module and put in its place .... and it came back to normal. Alllumée no light and no more tiring buzz ... Long live internet live youtube and thank you!

  • Please .... or DRL module is located on my 2003 Honda Civic LX 2-door coupe? thanks

  • @MissCarole2005 Do you mean "where is it located"? Most of the modules are in the same general location. Check some of the comments to this video for others input or just call the junkyard/scrapyard or even the dealership.

  • @illegalsmilereturns

Tried it on my '02 RSX it seems to have worked so far!

the box is located on the left wall just above the hood release, you have to remove 2 quick release pannels.

and yes If you eye the board flatwise (its a word), you can see where the solder has crept up on some of the contacts.

    THanks M8!!!!

  • @sausagenmuff Dude, you are so welcome. The ppl thank you for your info. Cheers from Canada.

  • I hate daytime running lights. I am trying to figure out how to disable them.

  • @helicrashpro Some ppl think they are helpfull and some do not, but its a fact that they are required for a safety inspection that dictates if you get registration here in Wpg, MB, Canada. In laymans terms, no DRL's = no legal driving with that vehicle. I hope someone sees this and helps you with your situation helicrashpro.

  • Man you don't know how much this helped me today.A Hugh thank you to you. Great video!

  • @7863348 Your welcome, this is the reason I made the vid.

  • Hey hey, Thanks for this video, my girlfriend's Civic had a rattling/flickering sound when the vehicle was running, and the sound would go away when the regular lights ran. Took the board out, saw some browned/cracked solder on 5 connections and resoldered them! Seems to be running great now, thanks!

  • @weefella84 What year is the Civic? Just so everyone knows. Thx.

  • Just fixed my 2002 Honda civic! My DRL's and my Highbeams were both out... and i was totally close to going to buy one from the honda 150+....i used to have a buzzing noise....i made sure to resoder the old soder and add allot of new soder...reinstalled it and it is working perfectly....!!Thanks alot.!!

  • @coolman008 yvw

  • Just fixed my 2004 Civic with this video! My DRL's and left side high beams were totally out and I had taken it to a mechanic 2 times and they couldnt figure it out. So glad I decided to check for myself. Thank you so much!

  • @TheJennriles You are welcome, it looks like this video is helping a lot of ppl mabee I should post my Paypal account :P

  • Thanks a lot for your video. I have a 02 civic, DRL light was always turning on in my dash and there was a buzzing noise coming out of the passenger side. Also, one of my DRL light wouldn't turn on, but regular headlights were fine. Followed your instructions and it fixed everything, location of the module was almost the same under the steering for my 02 LX. Very appreciated.

  • @alexsiv123 Cheers

  • wow man, thank you so much. I just fixed my honda dx 2003 with the help of your video. This was giving me a headache for so long. You rock.

  • @seesthemoment Ur welcome. Thanks for the feedback.

  • @illegalsmilereturns no problem. weird thing tho, now my normal headlights don't work. Tested both DRL's and they work fine...hmmm guess ill figure out tomorrow. Thnaks again.

  • @seesthemoment I would check to be sure that none of the contacts you solderd have bridged themselfs.......If you didnt change anything or short anything out it is a bit of a mystery......Unless somthing else burned out..........but realy tho I am no professional so I can only guess...srry. I realy hope you can get your lights working.

  • I have the exact same problem i'm going to try this solution right away i'ill come back to comment on the result!

  • Honda dealership = $120+tax for the part alone

    eBay = $30+shipping for a refurbished module

Canadian Tire = $15+tax for a basic soldering iron

Novice home mechanics should not fear the cheapest option. With no previous soldering experience, I handled it easily. Just watch the "How to Do It: Basic Soldering" video and you'll be fine. Save $100+ and stick it to the man!

FYI, on 7th generation Civics (2001-05), the module is to the left of the brake (above the clutch, if you have one).

  • Just bought a '01 civic and wondered what was this weird buzzing sound when DRL light was on. Guess I found the trouble! Thanks !!!

  • @ViperQc wc, Ya, some ppl claimed to have heard buzzing noises, I hope this vid helps you out. cheers.

  • @illegalsmilereturns Thanks you! It worked! My '01 civic had a different spot for the little box and was very easy of reach. Although I wasn't able to unsnap the box, I was able to remove the board without hassle. I re welded 3 pins, tested and everything worked fine! Thanks again!!

  • @ViperQc You are very wecome, Its cool to know that these DRL modules are almost the same for so many years.

  • Well my 2008 civic has a DRL issue as of yesterday won't get a chance to look into till tomorrow. I'll let ya'll know if looks the same as the civics from a decade ago..hopefully this vid helps me and thanks for the post.

  • @CrumBhosale Thanks for the comment :) The information you could provide will help tonnes of ppl. Your thanks are appreciated. Peace.

  • I am having same problems as stavroni. I did some research & think it has something to do with the DRL relay (not the DRL module). If you lower the glove compartment you can see DRL relay (grey colour) on the left side (towards the drivers side). It is located right next to a black coloured relay. The problem I am having is figuring out how to take it out. I have tried to just pull on the black colored relay first, but didn't want to pull too hard and cause damage. Help!

  • i changed the module with a different one, with two different ones actually, but it still doesnt work, on my dash it still showes the "DRL" light.. wat else could be wrong with it. ? when i fully turn my lights on, it goes away.. but when their off it comes back one and there no daytime running lights ,, wat do u think it is? thanks

  • @stavroni - Well its hard to say what is wrong, but instead of just replacing the modules try fixing one, the problem with these modules are VERY widespread and you may be installing one defective one after another. Sorry for the late response bro, keep me posted on how things go. thx.

  • nice video tutorial... thanks bro.

  • @ineedanewbike ur wc

  • BAN DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS IN CANADA!!!

  • thanks worked like a dream

  • @lordhoho - Ur welcome. Salut.

  • Check out my car video, nice car but it has the DRL light on until I manually turn the lights on... and the high beams don't work at all no matter what I do (I put new bulbs in)... I'm going to try this tomorrow and hopefully it will fix both probs. Also, my third light in the trunk wing doesn't work... any ideas? If you could please comment on the high beams and wing brake light that would be great... Your video is a 10/10, excellent descriptions and explanations. Thank you.

  • @RF3seeker - I checked out your car, wow! nice ride for sure. This should help with your highbeams, it did with mine, I had one that would not work prior to this fix. As for the rear wing, I found a pdf file of the full installation for the wing,, if you want i will email you the addy for it. Cheers and good luck with that SWeet ride of yours.

  • @illegalsmilereturns----- FIXED ----- DRL Highbeams...whats your Paypal account to send the money to? The wing LED brake light had a bad ground. Thanks for your comment, if you are ever in Victoria.....

  • @RF3seeker - LOL at the paypal account. Im glad to help out a fellow canuck.

  • I tried this on my parents 97 Accord and the DRL now work fine.

  • @fox8950 ,, Good stuff.

  • hi quick qeustion, wat sort of thing am i looking for when i take out the module? and where would my module be on a 93 honda prelude,, is it underneath the steering wheel? or the is it underneath the glove box?. thanks

  • @stavroni ,, It should be underneath the steering wheel,,, grey plastic box is what it looks like.

  • @stavroni ,, It should be underneath the steering wheel,,, grey plastic box is what it looks like.

  • Okay babe, I'm late but I'm here. I have a '97 Town and Country (which I love, even though it's old), so I guess none of this applies but it's still a learning opportunity.

  • Oh you lol. Always happy to see your comments. And ya, the TnC is a nice ride, kinda like having two couches on wheels hahaha jk jk.

  • THIS IS A PM SENT TO ME.... "Hi after I saw the video i fix my DRL but mine 1999 acura 3.2 tl it all same I save hundred of dollars. Thanks man" It seems to work on lots of jap crap. :) btw i love my car.

  • i check my relay/fuse and it good but i test where the fuse goes in and there is no electricity in it i did it with a volt meter oh and there is no electricity in my starter signal the fuse are goods

  • Wow, I wish I knew everything, but I only know what I have done and have not run into your situation yet.

  • @illegalsmilereturns

    what u mean

one of my light pop and i try to remove it with a plyer and i forgot to dc the battery and sparks came out of the bulb socket ever since they stop working wheni brake but they all work fine lmao weird maybe i burn the bulb sockets maybe not cuase running light works as long i dont press the brake pedal lmao

  • Hmmmmm, lol, i dunno man, srry.

  • k guys i have a 1997 honda civic hatchback cx 2d my running light go off when i press the brake but they all work fine as long i dont brake but if i dont ill crash make it ever worse so how do i fix this does thie drl relay has something to do with this pst

  • @willie8227,, well a quick solution might be to just turn ur lights on all the time that way the running lights are taken out of play OR mabee take a look at the module real close,, mabee its all interconected.

  • Great Video, tried this on my own 01 civic and it worked beautifully. High Beams back on both sides, buzzing gone & DRL is working again, thank-you!!

  • You are VERY welcome. People like yourself are exactly why I took the time to make this vid. Quite interesting that you had a buzzing sound,,,mabee was one of the relays trippin out?? hmmmm. Thanks for the feedback, its only going to help more peeps. Cheers.

  • I'm glad my car was built before DRLs...

  • Lucky you,,,I just moved back to Manitoba and for the gov't safety you have to have running lights in all vehicles no matter what age.

  • I guess they don't trust you to turn your lights on...

  • Come on,,you are a professional driver, how many yahoos are out there without lights on when needed,,its for the sheeple.

  • D'uh! How could I forget the flocks of them that block the way?

  • running lights? I had to google that! lol

they make total sense, I drive with my lights on all the time for safety reasons in crazy driver Arizona. wish we had running lights as a requirement, with our flat road driving conditions and bright sun with odd glare.

    Great vid!

  • Thanks bro :) Ya I traveled to Montana and it was a rainy / grey day,,,many ignorant drivers did not bother to turn on their headlamps,,,daytime running lights would have helped muchly considering the twisty mountain roads I was traveling.

  • lol so it works good now? ill see you driving NON illegally now? LOL

  • Yes, legal is the way to go with cars and such,,,,I had it on the road legaly all last week but will be permanant soon.
