Hey i was looking for servo videos and i was wonder were i could get a few? Im trying to build a rc Helicopter and need a few for main and tail rotor pitch THX
am from india.the greatest fan of u.you are really genius, and my pleasure to tell that ur really really handsome.thanks for ur lessons n tips on rc planes.i love u bro.....my wishes.
hey i am going to build a plane with your info but i havent built a plane before so how do i setup a servo meaning how do i setup the servo wires and what do i connect the wires to because i dont want to start my f18 and it just blows up or somethink like that
I have a small rc car, very low cost. I want to move my puppets eyes with the front wheels. However the motor is to noisy. Is there a way to replace the motor with a servo?
@kalvik007 Servo's are connected to your receiver and your battery is connected to your speed controller (ESC) therefore that would give power to your motor and servo's.
haha what a noob why would you say they like all the weight near the center of gravity? That's why its the center of gravity! it's where the weight is distributed from! no need to double talk. some do like it spread out more for heavy hovering, though.
hello dave, surely with all that glue and tape, it gets heavier and harder to fly, please respond to thos in your next great video, i would love to be on the web :) thanks alot!
hello dave, surely with all that glue and tape, it gets heavier and harder to fly, please respond to thos in your next great video, i would love to be on the web :) thanks alot!
Hey Dave... Awesome videos, thank you so much... I was hoping to find something like this either in a book or online. I just got a TX from a buddy who stopped flying, it is the Futaba T7C 7channel radio... my question is, what servos would you recommend, what speed controller and can I use it for these foamies and program it for them as well... he gave me the RX (receiver) but no servos and not sure if all servos are can work with different radios.
Great videos Dave, people should start with foam and learn what's going on. you will save yourself lots of money, if you start going gas/ nitro and balsa. trust me, nothing makes you feel worse when it argers in, on it's the first flight! You are training your fingers, mind and vision. to be ahead of the plane all the time.
hi..i wanna make my own plane out of fom.. what would be the best design and what kind of fom should i use with what motor..and all those things ..i want to make a normal plane which flies nice but not too slow. what .i noticed one thing in some planes that the ratio between the wingspan and the fuselage length is not more than 1.3 .....is it right ..please please please reply fast...as soon as possible
I Have A Question : Is There An Alternative To Carbon Rod I Almost Killed Myself Recording A Project (Never Uploaded) And Dont Wanna Cheat Death Again LOL
Question for you.. with transmitters now being able to be programmed for throw/rate and endpoints, should we always just set the physical horn and arms in the middle and let the transmitter do the fine tuning? in your example you move the pushrod to the closest hole to make it not move as much. Should middle of the road be used for actual servo arm / control horn settings and let transmitter do the rest?
but i want to make a plane very cheap which foam i most use and this is perfecht i can setup the servo arms by myself but where you can buy cheap foam and cheap electronics
Of course they're better. SOme cheap battery rotor engine vs some massive thing that could actually explode and uses real gas? Come on now. But for my future build I'm planning to use one gas and then have the rest be brushless outrunners...I need some advice and have lots of questions if you have experience with gas/
I see what you mean, Gas is more fun and is quicker to "refuel" than charge your batteries, I just prefer electric because I don't like tuning motors and I'm not very mechanicly savy, Im good with electronics though so I just went electric. I still want a big nitro plane though. No arguments, its just a matter of preference.
how can i take off with wheels on my rc sea vixin and also try to put one moter in the front taht is none movabel and the back one to do the (yaa) and up and down movement k?
Hi RC SuperPowers, I used rc radian plane first time then left it over night did not take battery out of plane, tomorrow plane is dead I can not charge battery any more the charger only beeps showing error, the battery is 11.1V, 1300mAh Li-Po battery, I assume it got drawn in the plane over night so if that happen is there any way to charge it back and why no body says if you take all power from battery you can not charge it again

I tried to buy the kit online but I am getting confused. please tell me specifically which is the best kit to start building a RC plane . I had purchased a Foam Sheet, remaining I need everything else so please tell me from where to buy this things. thanks
hey dave, what kind of servo should i use on my plane...becuase the old one thats on it rite now...is like frozen and won't move, and i dont want to fly it like that? so what brand of servo should i use, i have a 9 gram servo rite now
hay dave im qwite new to rc planes.. can u help me as im a comlete novice.. i need plans for the easyist plane to build and everything i need.. i have parts from an old rc car.. so i have most parts.. but not to sure were there go and how to connect as i only have a 2 channel receiver.. please could u help.. thanks joe
I have a servo question: Sometimes when a servo is at full-throw, it sounds like it is straining to hold whatever it's attached to. Is this normal? How can I fix this?
it is straing against something such as the control surface. if your tranmitter has a way to limit throw there is where you will find your fix. just increase the throw limit(make the throw narrower). another fix could be to move the pushrod in one hole on the servo horn, but this will effect the over all swing of the control surface.
i am planning on making that plane and i was wondering, what battery is that on the plane cos i cant find one any where and i don't know what on would be suitable
i just built my first foamie, its based on the f-27c stryker. but im nervous for my first flight, how do i know if its going to be out of control or not ? im pretty sure i got the cg right
Oh and how do i match up the brushless motors with the esc as far as with all the numbers such as Mah and Amps, etc.. AND after i have the esc and motor matched correctly to work, what type of reciever will i have to get to match all three of those??? AND will the reciever get power from the ESC or directly from the Battery?
And btw, Dave, I just bought a Parkzone Typhoon 2 3D.\so, I didnt have much problem putting it together because it was a RTF.. anyway.. i charged the lipo, and plugged it into the ESC..... But there was also a port on the reciever that said BATT.. so, I also plugged the battery charger lead ( the one i plugged into my chrager to charge the batt) into the RX and it fit.. when i did this, the servos went nuts. now when i try to do something, the plane doesnt respond to the transmitter. fried RX?
hey, im only new to this but im pretty sure the channel marked "battery" is so you can plug a battery monitor into it, and because you applied a voltage to it you may have done damage.
how do you know what combination of esc's, motor, Rx's and servos to use all together so that they all work in unison? Because there are so many different types of radio equipment from all different companies around the world to use.. For example, 25 Amp Esc's, 1800 MAh Li po batteris, brushless motors ??? What do all these numbers mean>?? How do i know how to match up motors and esc's and recievers to work?? Please Help!!
it really helps dave. even old timer forgoten all this small stuff. will it offend you if i try to reproduce the same content in my own language for my fellow rc pilot here in malaysia thru my channel? great job dave, inspiring.
hi dave this is yash am doing B.e in aeronautics can u plz tell me where i can get this stuff (servos,horns,radio,.......) because i got some designs with me i need to test them.nice demo,it will help the beginers and one more question i have for u,do u have any future models?(i mean new models)
dave you should advertise your other shows earlier in the show because Most people dont watch till the end idk youve got a good setup but allways improvement is the key. Going by along time on youtube most people bord flicking through see something on youtube and if they like it they usually go oh yeah do what you said with the site coming back to and stuff u know. but thier the other people who just go oh yeah cool then go to another random video
can you plz tell me that where can i buy this stuff like servos and those small white things and all that electric stuff. im really willing to build this stuff.
if im using 9mm epp should i install the servo horns and servos the same way as u did (with a boxcutter) or should i use asoldering iron like u showed in the last video
Thanks Dave for your great informative vids, fairly new to all this and find it a great help.like some of the other guys on here need info on motor and prop set up,battery choice etc. Thanks again. you say clee-vis,we say clevis,uk !
You miss my point. For equal throw, you only want the linkage pivot directly over the hinge if the control rod is parallel to the hinge. (occasionally this is very much not the case)
For an extreme example, if the control rod was coming down at 45 degrees to the stab, the ideal location would be 45 degrees behind the hingeline (perpendicular to the control rod)
Interested in learning to match motor to prop and plane weight . Is there a formula?? Also how do you protect servos from higher volt batteries?? Thanks Dan_go_away
Ok, question: So, I've been playing around with free simulators and demos (Realflight G4 e.g.), yet do not have a transmitter. Obviously, I won't learn how to fly just using my keyboard, so, the question is, what do you recommend buying to get a good (realistic) simulator at a fair price? (Remember that I have to get a transmitter as well - or get a simulator with one included)
Brushless is more efficient and powerful. Brushless are actually 3 phase AC motors. The DV voltage is run through the speed controller that inverts the DC to AC and sends that to the motor through three wires.
brushed motors have just 2 wires, power and ground, because the brushes inside flip the magnetic field to keep it rotating. a brushed esc just has to regulate voltage to regulate speed. Brushless motors do not have a means of moving the field inside them, instead it is done via solid state chips in the (more complicated) esc and the motor has 3 wires. there are no brushes it is less friction so more power can be pumped through a smaller motor without heating. brushless is about 3x more powerful
Oh my gaaaad! I thought of the bicycle sprocket analogy too Dave! I had it in my first video but cut it out when my wife suggested that I cut the length down and add the song. Thus the bicycle analogy fell to the cutting room floor so to speak, but I'm so glad you brought it out in this video. Once again, way to go Dave!! - Ed5k
ive been trying 2 find the wild hawk but i can only find it on us sites which costs a lot 2 deleiver, do u know any sites in the uk that seles the wild hawk
Hi Dave, how did you set up the rods for the wings? they seam like its has some kinder bend on it? didn't see it please pause on it for 3 or 4 seconds on next video Please.
Great work as always Dave. I like the bit on the control rods. I have always done mine exactly then same as that. Been doing them that way for the past 20 years (as a kid). Never had a failure. Keep it up!
Hey there Dave and Val! How's things going? Another excellent beginner guide, this is invaluable to me, so thanks alot! I have a small and possibly silly idea for you guys, or to expand on; as helpful as these videos are, (And they ARE!) I still find the old-boring labelled diagrams quite useful. If you can ever find the time and will-power, Myself and some others may find some simple diagrams showing what parts are called, and where they go useful for building. Just a thought. All the best guys

I have a servo question: Sometimes when a servo is at full-throw, it sounds like it is straining to hold whatever it's attached to. Is this normal? How can I fix this?
auburntaco 2 years ago
it happens all the time, but its not safe for flight. get a new or better brand servo.
kbtwinkietwins 2 years ago
it is straing against something such as the control surface. if your tranmitter has a way to limit throw there is where you will find your fix. just increase the throw limit(make the throw narrower). another fix could be to move the pushrod in one hole on the servo horn, but this will effect the over all swing of the control surface.
good luck

Oh and how do i match up the brushless motors with the esc as far as with all the numbers such as Mah and Amps, etc.. AND after i have the esc and motor matched correctly to work, what type of reciever will i have to get to match all three of those??? AND will the reciever get power from the ESC or directly from the Battery?
williamsonj7 3 years ago
start small...get an RTF and work yer way up.
Dave has an ebook that will explain alot to you. check his site
omendesign 3 years ago
And btw, Dave, I just bought a Parkzone Typhoon 2 3D.\so, I didnt have much problem putting it together because it was a RTF.. anyway.. i charged the lipo, and plugged it into the ESC..... But there was also a port on the reciever that said BATT.. so, I also plugged the battery charger lead ( the one i plugged into my chrager to charge the batt) into the RX and it fit.. when i did this, the servos went nuts. now when i try to do something, the plane doesnt respond to the transmitter. fried RX?
williamsonj7 3 years ago
hey, im only new to this but im pretty sure the channel marked "battery" is so you can plug a battery monitor into it, and because you applied a voltage to it you may have done damage.
brodysmith85 3 years ago
how do you know what combination of esc's, motor, Rx's and servos to use all together so that they all work in unison? Because there are so many different types of radio equipment from all different companies around the world to use.. For example, 25 Amp Esc's, 1800 MAh Li po batteris, brushless motors ??? What do all these numbers mean>?? How do i know how to match up motors and esc's and recievers to work?? Please Help!!

Hey Dave, How and what do you use to connect the servo's to the receiver on the plane?

The diameter of the carbon is 3 MM. I dont know where to get the metal...go to ur LHS. They usually carry it.

dave you should advertise your other shows earlier in the show because Most people dont watch till the end idk youve got a good setup but allways improvement is the key. Going by along time on youtube most people bord flicking through see something on youtube and if they like it they usually go oh yeah do what you said with the site coming back to and stuff u know. but thier the other people who just go oh yeah cool then go to another random video

rctoywizard 3 years ago
dave dave dave could you send me links on were to get the ''stuff''' for that because it was help(LESS)
farttilludieinc 3 years ago
Teamerica,
You miss my point.
Cheers.

Thanks in advance if I get an answer

what is the big difference from brushed over brushless
pyroman13524 3 years ago
Brushless is more efficient and powerful. Brushless are actually 3 phase AC motors. The DV voltage is run through the speed controller that inverts the DC to AC and sends that to the motor through three wires.
taofledermaus 3 years ago
brushed motors have just 2 wires, power and ground, because the brushes inside flip the magnetic field to keep it rotating. a brushed esc just has to regulate voltage to regulate speed. Brushless motors do not have a means of moving the field inside them, instead it is done via solid state chips in the (more complicated) esc and the motor has 3 wires. there are no brushes it is less friction so more power can be pumped through a smaller motor without heating. brushless is about 3x more powerful

where do you get that metal rods for the push rods

Oh my gaaaad! I thought of the bicycle sprocket analogy too Dave! I had it in my first video but cut it out when my wife suggested that I cut the length down and add the song. Thus the bicycle analogy fell to the cutting room floor so to speak, but I'm so glad you brought it out in this video. Once again, way to go Dave!! - Ed5k
