  • Worzel Gummidge is the 3rd doctor!

  • I reckon he would make a good Slasher Villain.

  • looks like Freddy Kruger's homeless cousin

  • ah lovely memories, worzel gummidge on a sunny sunday tea-time, jam on toast, the smell of mums baking in the kitchen, dad in the pub with my grandad, then it was the muppet show then a bit later, rising damp & the two ronnies....an era when time seemed to last forever & T.V was worth watching!!

  • As a child, this program scared the living shit out of me.

  • put a word after w and a word after o and a word after d and away we go lol

    cool memory from childhood

is it just me or does remind anyone of bill bailey lol

  • Cup of Tea Ann Sally!!!!

  • Russell Brand's autobiography brought me here. :D

  • Ah, the glory days, when children's show characters were scary and/or oddly intriguing. But mostly scary. (What's adorable and scary? Adary? Scadorable?)

  • I HATED Worzel Gummidge.... with a passion.

Don't me wrong, I'm fine with John Pertwee.... I just hated the stupid bloody character.

  • The head removal used to freak me out, then again, Pertwee always freaked me out. Cup o tea, missus? LOL

  • Freddy Kruegar would shit himself if he met Worzel Gummidge

  • This role is the polar opposite to his doctor. He is watchable in anything.

  • Every week my brother and I used to bet which way he'd fall down at the closing credits!

  • I remember this show. It was great. I liked Jon Pertwee. He was also my Favourite Doctor in Dr.Who or 1 of the Favourites Doctors.

  • I loved the way Aunt Sally pronounced America, Ameri-key!!!

  • It used to scare the hell out of me when the crow man called the other scarecrowes to a meeting like a zombie film for kids.

  • this shit still freaks me out today.

  • i have like all of the videos of worzel gummidge, feel quite proud :)

  • Now i remember this and i used to try and hide cos the crow man scared the s*** out of me, i remember the meeting of the scarecrows and there was one with a sack head and a big button eye. and i can see it now....urg! i have my back towards the window and he`s there...creepy as I`m 8 floors up if he is I`m in deep do do! On a lighter note me and my brother used to spell each others name out if we got dirty playing outside as kids.

He works in a foundry so i can still sing it to him :D

  • Worzel must have an A-hole like a rats nest!

  • from timelord to scarecrow thats a bad rengeration

  • this scared the crap out of me an i avoided it at all costs. but whenever i stayed at a mates house, he and his sister would make me watch it with them. i think the only thing that got me through was knowing that Why Dont You was on after which I loved.

  • John Pertwee requested that when he died a Worzel doll be placed on his coffin, and this was duly carried out when that sad day occured. A true professional.

  • Loved this show, I thought it was a lot earlier than the 80's though, maybe I just watched it with my son???......funny as

  • @tezzame61 started in 79

  • it was funny and entertaining for those of us who were kids back in the 80"s the younger generation who put bad comments wouldnt know that though with the SHITE kids watch these days !

  • who the fuck came up with a scarecrow for a childrens programme.

  • Yeah I have to say that I was scared of that bloody scarecrow use to check under my bed of a night to make sure it wasn't there, PMSL

  • Ah, cup of tea and slice of cake with Aunt Sally!

  • Haha! I used to watch this so much! xD

  • Worzel Gummidge doesn't check under his bed for the bogie man. The bogie man checks under his bed for Worzel Gummidge. This guy DID and STILL does (I'm 26) scare the fuck out of me

  • imagine dreaming worzel gummidge is at the foot of your bed. Just standing there. Waiting.

    That woul dbe scary.

  • i was shit scared of worzel too.....

  • Any one got a clip of the one where worzel stands on the roof of a car, and gets his head knocked off when it drives under a low bridge? To this day still the funniest thing I ever saw

  • Good to see i wasnt the only one a bit freaked out watching the opening/closing credits when he falls ! Is the wee birdy that lives in his pocket gonna be alright mummy ! hes fine son, hes all grown up and Rod hull looks after him son, and what about Worzel, did he hurted his self fallin, mummy ? hes only preting he fell son has his Ronaldo head on !

  • That is sooo freaky....at the end, when he spins round.

  • I wonder what Worzel and Aunt Sallys child would have looked like lol :) :)

  • Where"s the bit where he falls down and the cross falls on him, its not the same.

  • @shevstilkskin That was the end titles. He'd walk across the field to his, 'cross', get himself comfortable, and then right at the end, he'd either fall backwards o forwards. There was two different versions, and as a kid, used to try and guess which way he'd fall.. Hardly ever used to get it right.

  • aunt sally must have been hard...

  • i loved it when he took his head of wish i could do that with mine make mi younger each year lmao

  • Thats 1 cake for you and three cakes for me,cos three is the same as one.

  • He used to scare me a bit all right when I was a kid. No wonder we ended up pooping XTC and raving away in the late 80's and early 90's. We just wanted to feel warm and secure inside. Must have been the trauma of growing up with Worsel Gummidge in our sitting room.

  • 0:13 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! It's Freddy!!!

  • I have a theory that it was our parents who liked this show. Those of us who were kids at the time hated it and those bloody talking scarecrows gave us nightmares

  • I found him scary when his head came off. still, I was very young at the time of watching.

  • RIP Charlotte Coleman.

  • Just like a child-friendly Sir Digby Chicken Caesar..

  • John Pertwee? It's Doctor Who everyone!

  • oh i am in tears here. It brings back so many memories of when i was attacked by a scarecrow when i went to black woods

  • How is this scary? 0.o

  • scared the shit outta me

  • The height of acting!!! Fabulous.

  • Jon Pertwee was also among other things a member of the Royal Navy during WWII.He was transferred off HMS HOOD before it was sunk in battle with the Bismarck in 1941 for the loss of all but three of the crew.Imagine the BBC without him.

  • Certain parts used to scare me in this programme :( Lool

  • me too, I remember one of his enemies another scarecrow His face was bloody scary!

  • @KingsWorld2010

I remember the other scarecrow too. It had a turnip for a head. And yes, it was damn scary too

  • Deserves a BBFC 15 certificate on DVD. Some of the scenes really are frightening, even to some adults! lol

  • @strange6 What scares me the most is when he falls of his stand and he screams.

That scream haunts me every night now.

  • @superjoel01 yeah that terrified me too, im glad im not alone

  • @strange6 Yes and the blatant racism and homophobic connotations were a disgrace

  • I'd love to make my own sitcom with the same theme music..."JOHN PERTREE AS JESUS CHRIST"

he could throw a custard pie at Ponchus Pilot!

  • worzel gummidge scared the shit out of me as a kid..i can remember my brother laughing as i cried..until mum came in the room and told him off

  • Aunt Sally required a large portion of boning.

  • I don't know why, but watching this depresses me slightly.

  • yep me 2

  • He was fuckin scary growing up, i agree.

  • Worzel traumatized me as a kid and so did rod and that bastard emu.

  • lol ;) child nightmares.

  • This series really needs to be re-run, before we all forget.

  • Not only was I scared of him as a child, but he was so damned filthy he used to put me off my dinner and I'd get a bollocking for leaving my plate full.

  • @Davidbensonxyz my goodness i thought i was thee only one it still gives me shivers

  • @Davidbensonxyz Thinking about it now, I'm not surprised (laughs). A crucified scarecrow with a head that comes off??! Are you kidding me? I don't know WHAT those producers were taking but it's got to be better than the shite kids watch now. No wonder they've lost their muthafucking minds and are shooting each other.

  • @Davidbensonxyz me to he abslutely scared the crap outta me how he'd take his head off and swap it another one ,,, what were they thinking making stuff like that lol

  • classic tv program think it used to be on a sunday night we were allowed to watch it whilst having tea.

  • Dazimp, nearly 30 years old ah? I would keep that quiet if I was you. Have you requested your zimmer frame, electric mobility scooter, slippers and pipe yet? Tee hee......

  • Well ianupton thats the best youtube comment I ever heard. Got any more gems?!!

  • i had a fist fight with john pertwee over a girl in a bar in hampshire 1981. he was a pretty good sized guy but i managed to get the better of him by breaking a bar stool over his back. he didnt get up after that. he was with this right flirty bird and when i got talking to her he got all shitty about it. he was giving me the daggers for an hour or so then came up and was all like "outside" and when he turned to the door i got him with the stool. he lost a tooth if i remember. it made the paper.

  • @ianupton pretty good fist fight. All that was missing was the fists and the fighting.

  • @ianupton I've heard better descriptions of "Fist" "Fights" before.

    Good story though.

  • I love him ....

  • johnny and his magic trailer on the back ?

  • ehhhhh!!!!!!!

  • The show with the guy on the bike with the trailer was Worzel Gummidge!

The rider was the 'Crowman', and he had a dog called 'Ratter'. He made Worzel and was always turning up to sort out Gummers when he got into mischief!

  • Ahhh thanks so much for that!!!!!
