Where is the part about doors that will withstand someone with a 50 lb battering ram for 30 minutes while you call the cops and get out that stupid shot gun.

Also, shotgun is DEFINITELY the best home defense, for several reasons. Here's two: stopping power of a 12 gauge 00buckshot shell is higher than even a 45 magnum, yet it has LESS RISK of traveling through walls and killing innocent people than a .38.

Concerning grabbing it from your bed - hopefully you should be OUT of your bed to be able to fight properly, or you may already have lost... but by all means keep a backup snubnose on your nightstand.

1100 is better, don't understand fascination with pump. Do people think the racking noise makes criminals run? I'd rather bet on being able to shoot fast and accurately. Folding stock upsets balance, makes less accurate, and can catch in clothing, pistol grip bad for wrist, extra ammo on the stock can also catch clothing. 8 in my shotgun is enough. The light will shake off in use (you do practice with it right?) Surefire integrated into forend is best, a bit pricey but worth it.

Home defense? get rid of the trigger lock, have back up light and a mobile phone.

When the heats on it can be hard to undo a lock in a hurry,

Very nice shotgun.

Shotgun is the best choice for home defense. The sheer variety of shells to best fit your environment and needs is proof of it's versatility.

If you want something that has a high first-round stop percentage, go with the shotgun.

@millerusaf Sorry. Shotgun is WORST choice for home defense. Shotgun would be fine if you are all safe and ready on your porch and the aggressor(s) are out on your lawn. If invader(s) come crashing into your home you can NOT have a shotgun ready and in battery fast enough. If you are in bed you will have to get up,grab the shotgun,rack the slide and hope they aren't already on top of you.

My snub .38 on my nightstand can be in my hand in less than 1/2 second even when I am laying down in bed.

@craigdamage u sleep with your gun? lmfao.. i dont belive a robber will break into your house and go into your bed room and kill u right away instead of tryna figure out the place first..... just have your shotgun under your bed or in your closet.. shotsguns with one shot the pellets will spray and it will hit.. rifles,pistols u need 1 accruate shot to hit but im sure u can hit but others can not thats why shotgun is best home defense weapon.. many pellets or 1 bullet?

Also,gun writer and security expert Mas Ayoob once detailed a story in which a single woman who lived alone in an inner city apartment woke up in the middle of the night with four men ALREADY in her room. One was ON TOP OF HER. She reached over to her nightstand where she had a .38 snub under a magazine and blasted away at point blank. How would a shotgun under her bed have helped?

@craigdamage damn for reals thats scary 4 guys...... .38 isnt strong enough if your dealing with big guys.. the only good weapon for home defense against that is automatic guns/rifles but its hard to get them these days..

@lifes40123 ....and btw,you don't need to lecture me on shotguns. I own two superb H&K tactical 12 pumps. The whole point I am making is that in order for a weapon to work against an intruder(s) is that you be able to have it in hand and ready in an instant. Impossible for a long gun. A knife in your hand would be better than a 12 gauge under your bed.

I have a security camera business,and most people wait till they are robbed before they call me.Dont wait till ur house and ur family are violated before u put in security measures. Invest in a shotgun and or a camera system.When I am called robbers usually have struck. They mostly take guns, jewelery, small electronics like cameras, and tools. Stuff the can carry and easily hide on their person. The family is usually always pissed, and they dont feel comfortable in thier home anymore

May I make a suggestion about that trigger lock..Practice in a planned panic opening that thing..I had one on a revolver and needed to get it unlocked one night cuz some one kicked at my door..Needless to say that trigger lock was in the garbage the next day..Not saying it isnt good for what it does but in a hurry,when half asleep it may cause a problem..IMO theres better ones out there..Good luck..

Just a suggestion: If that is your home defense weapon, toss that trigger lock. Or have fun trying to unlock it at 3am when you just wake up, with someone in your home. If you don't feel comfortable without the lock, then you might consider putting it in a safe to begin with. The media hypes the use of locks and such devices, but they will hinder more than help in a crisis.

Ditch the flare you will screw up and burn your house down. Your using a slug,rifled barrel designed for slugs the grooves cut in the barrel will cause shot of any size to come out in a donut pattern. Use slugs in a slug barrel,shot in a smooth barrel, or a rifled slug in a smooth barrel.

Couple suggestions,ditch the flare round and put another buckshot round in there. If its a home defense gun your not going to shoot a flare and expect help,in a emergency you are the help. Also ditch the laser or atleast ditch the corded pressure switch,you dont want anything interfering with the action of the gun especially in an emergency where your adrenilin is pumping,simple makes effective. Overall you have a very good gun just dont make it more than it has to be. Good day.
