A paso fino CAN do a huge "Arabian type" floating trot, a QH lope, a QH jog and many other gaits in addition to their natural "speed walk". Can your QH/Arab do the 4 beat paso fino gait?? Actually your QH/Arab does the same gait as the paso fino IF IT WALKS because the paso fino just does the walk at faster speeds than most breeds. So it is not a weird gait, it is a walk gait. I love all breeds. I RIDE a paso fino, for hours, at canter speed (largo gait and canter), and then go dancing.
@mrXAVIERisAWESOME Actually Paso Finos do come in the pinto coloring. It is not really seen in the more well bred performance horses but there are some trail riding breeders who specialize in pintos (personally I think it is wrong to breed for a color, but whatever floats your boat as long as the horses are healthy).
@ThePhenomenonStudios If it is all from the same farm then I highly doubt it is a Peruvian. Some horses flip their feet out just a bit, while the Peruvian tends to wing out the entire leg.
HI MY NAME IS BRENDA SPENCER & I JUST LOST MY BEST FRIEND MARCELINA ...MY RESORTE BRED PASO FINO MARE AT AGE 26 IN JAN THIS YR. SHE WOULDVE BEEN 27 ON JUNE 1ST. IM NOW LOOKIN 4 A NEW BEST FRIEND. actually, it goes more like. pasos walk, corto, and largo. they can ALSO canter and trot if asked. they arent known for trotting, they are known for their distinctive gait bred into them.
The point was that Paso Finos can and are capable of walk, trot, and canter, which is just icing on the cake...no? If they are well trained they can do any gait asked, though I find the Fino uninteresting because I'm not interested in the show ring.
they can be used for much more than showing. mine is a show horse but he loves to trail ride. i do field trials with him. he jumps and works cows. every individual one is different. so you have to judge them one horse at a time.
@lithics2 I like Paso Finos for trail riding. Show horses tend to be too hot for me sometimes so a calmer tail horse is great. Nothing like a smooth corto on a trail rather than a bouncy trot.
@lithics2 some horses can't achieve the fino, but the others are all true. But when they do fino, you are talkin some major power coming from a horse.

I don't think the horse at :23 is a paso because they can't be paints and it has a paint pattern. Like if you have heard this or I am right.

0:30-0:38 looks like a Peruvian Paso. They kick their feet out. Paso Finos are more piston and strait legged.

True Paso Fino's do trot. They also walk, canter, corto, largo, and fino. At least mine is capable of all gaits.

You never rise out of the saddle when you ride one. I rode a paso fino halfinger and his trot is just like a fool paso.
