It's not so hard to understand why the Russians didn't win their war.They were fighting not the illiterate tribesmen but in fact an all-powerful hidden hostile coalition including the US,NATO,Israel,Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and billions of dollars,renewable Moslem cannon fodder,jihad praised by the Western propaganda.But it's much harder to understand why the US hasn't won yet now that there is no such a powerful coalition and weaponry fighting for the ragheads.

@jessupita Mines and RPG's are a tanks worst enemy. When a tank moves it requires infantry to clear the way. In Abrams or Bradley gunnery if a tank and a RPG team pop up at the same time, you engage the rpg team first. A tank can't get into a hole when the fighting gets tough, a tank can't look into the enemy's hole. A tank can't clear a building. But the ROE is also a problem. It is hard to drop bombs on the ememy anymore because we are so worried about civilians.

@jessupita Mines and RPG's are a tanks worst enemy. When a tank moves it requires infantry to clear the way. In Abrams or Bradley gunnery if a tank and a RPG team pop up at the same time, you engage the rpg team first. A tank can't get into a hole when the fighting gets tough, a tank can't look into the enemy's hole. A tank can't clear a building. But the ROE is also a problem. It is hard to drop bombs on the ememy anymore because we are so worried about civilians.

But the people responsible for 9/11 need to be brought to justice, before they attack again! What will it take for that to happen? I think the assault on the mountains of Afghanistan is necessary. This was not just killing of a few Americans, but an attack on an entire city and an entire country. This wasn't an isolated terrorist attack.

As for the terrorist attacks, they are fueled by US foreign policy. The wars of the Bush administration have only made terrorism worse and increased the probability that another serious attack will take place.
