I would actually stay indoors complete with airtight/watertight seals until every single one of those god damn caterpillars die and dissipate into nothingness. I'm completely SERIOUS! After that I would migrate somewhere cold and don't have trees, even if it costs me. My phobia of any long, squirmy caterpiller/worms/centipede/insect things is so extreme that i would start shivering and get REALLY self-conscious as though there were a thousand on me even if i see only one. My hat is off to u.
