"The man who has occupied the Oval Office since January, 2009 is a man seemingly without a compass, a tactician who veers rightward one day and leftward the next, an inside-the Beltway dealmaker who doesn't explain his comprises in light of larger goals.
…Obama cannot mobilize America around the truth, in other words, because he is continuously adapting to the prevailing view. This is not leadership." --Robert Reich, Huffington Post, July 29, 2011
If one can't help or manage one's own family/relatives (brother, aunt or relatives), how can he be trusted to help or manage a nation. If one can't be entrusted in the little things, how can one be entrusted with bigger things? Have we missed to look Obama's personal roots? Roots always produce fruits. Eloquence of speech, does not make a good leader. Integrity does! Think twice. ROOTS ALWAYS PRODUCE FRUITS!
If Obama did not know where his father's families WERE in Kenyan, then when Obama said he did not know that his aunt is living in US illegally, he would have spoken TRUTHFULLY, that is, IF OBAMA DID NOT VISIT HIS HOMETOWN, but Obama had visited his hometown! No one that went to his homeland town in Africa would not know that his aunt is living in USA ILLEGALLY because everyone of his relatives would have told HIM accordingly. OBAMA had lied again!
1. Well, you posted it attached to an Obama ad without any further explanation--so of course I assumed it was directed at the man in the ad. If you're trying to say that I shouldn't have made that assumption, then I think you need to rethink your approach. But based on what you've written here, my assumption was right. You're implying that there may be some sort of specific biblical connection to this election.
2. In America's 200+ year history, there has ALWAYS been something strange going on. This whole country's history is a turmoil of fucked up, crazy, and weird shit. Not only that, US involvement in other countries has been largely tumultuous and "strange" as well. And if you go back through history you'll find that, if humans are involved, Strange Things Are Always Afoot.
Noticing that there "is something strange taking place in American society" is like noticing that that the stars come out at night. I don't know why you would even suggest that there was anything supernatural about it. It's anthropological. It's political. It's sociological. It's spiritual. It's economic. It's cultural. It's human. It's completely predictable to anyone who pays attention to human behavior.
3. What would a "proper vetting" entail? Would some good dirt have to be dug up for it to be proper? Please explain what you find bizarre about his vetting process. I've heard all about Obama's "radical roots" and maybe I am just a crazy commie or something, but none of his history seems all that radical to me.
Fox news is a total joke, incidentally, but I do check in from time to time and I haven't gotten any facts from Fox that I haven't seen elsewhere as well. Please note that I used the word "Facts"
4. I'm sorry that you and your friends can't have a fruitful political conversation. Obviously, there are a lot of stupid humans in the world who do and say things without thinking them through. This is true on both sides of the fence. Most people are total lemmings when it comes to politics. Just because you haven't noticed it before, doesn't mean there is something supernatural or bizarre going on.
5. Just because some jackasses want to foolishly pretend that Obama will save them from the mess that we are in, doesn't mean that Jesus might be coming soon.
6. I've studied religions and the history of how the bible came to be written enough to know that I don't buy into the Christian faith at all. But regardless of that, the whole "false messiah" theory can be applied to pretty much any noted historical figure, because they're all human and they all have flaws to varying degrees. Hitler, Gandhi, and George Bush come to mind.
That's the beauty of parables: They address universal truths and so can be applied universally. After Obama's time has come and gone, people will be drawing the same parallels with another celebrated hero.
7. I really do wish you would go into specific details, because so far you are just doing what I asked you not to do: giving a bunch of convenient and coincidental examples of how Obama might be some sort of biblical prophetic figure signalling the coming of the Christ. Your arguments are vague and weak.
Insisting that you're only exploring these possibilities or whatever and aren't necessarily convinced doesn't make the whle thing any less silly/sad/dismaying/whatever. Basically, I could take any moment and place in history and apply some bible verse to it to suit my needs. It really irks me when people do that.
I do appreciate and respect the rest of your opinions here. Perhaps you are right. Most of this stuff reflects our different ideologies and world-view and won't likely be resolved in this format. So I won't pusue this farther. I don't mean to dodge. If you have a specific question for me, I'll answer it. Otherwise I'll give you the last word if you wish. Take care and let the best man for president win, no matter who it is.
Try this on for size. It was just uncovered by Fox today that Bill Ayers, in his book "Prairie Fire", dedicated it to, amongst others, Sirhan Sirhan, the man who shot and killed Robert Kennedy. Was this reported outside of Fox news today? Did no one else know about this book in the media? If you want to believe this is all normal and that everything is how it's been for the last 200 years, so be it. I do partially agree with you that "one of us" ain't paying attention.
Well, that would make for a pretty boring blog, doncha think???
Are you actually encouraging me NOT to watch this??? How do you know I won't "see the light" and vote for "the ONE", as you guys like to refer to "Him" as. Next think you know, you're going to start calling "Him": "Yahweh, formally known as Barrack Hussein Obama"
that's why they had three presidential debates. he made this for the undecided, if you already know who you voting for your wasting time and space on this page.
No, I don't think Obama had much of a relationship with Ayers. And the other point is that if Ayers was such a terrorist fifteen years ago, what was he doing on an education board founded by a Republican and adviser to Ronald Reagan? Do Republicans like to "pal around with domestic terrorists", or had Ayers reformed.
Considering that Ayers had won the Citizen of the Year Award, I'm thinking the latter.
We know by Ayers' own words that he hasn't reformed. We have an article (2001) and a radio interview (2002) were he states unequivically that he's not repentent for what he did.
Regarding Obama, patterns come in 3's. Obama's past links him with Marxist and communist. Rev Wright, for example is a Marxist. Black Liberation Theology is Marxist. Google Marxist and Black Liberation Theology for yourself. There's also Khalidi, Pfleger, and others.
Bottom line is this: If you want a reformer, vote for McCain. If you want to dramatically change America, vote for Obama. For me, I like America the way it is. Is it perfect? No Are there things we can improve? Yes. Do I want to dramatically change it in the direction I believe Obama's going to take it? Absolutely N-O-T!!!!!!
That's not true. Ayer's said that he wished he had done more to end the Vietnam War... he stated that he did not mean he wished he blew up more bombs.
I'm not sure about the others, however, Republicans have distorted this and so many other things during this and previous campaigns that I just assume these are fabrications.
Sorry to disappoint you. Search "Ayers radio interview". I just got through listening to Ayers say that he did not regret the extreme measures he took. Listen for your yourself. It's not ambiguous. They just discovered a book Ayers wrote in which one of the people he dedicated it to was Sirhan Sirhan. He was the man who shot and killed Robert Kennedy. Does this matter? Of course not. Nothing matters except for "change, change, change". We've become a world of zombies.
Yeah, and Hitler probably watched American movies. What's your point? I'll bet you people on death row have done some good things in their life too. So what? What does this prove? I'll admit that the verdict is still on how close Ayers and Obama were. But don't tell me Ayers was this great little fellow; come on!! we have him in his own words and writing, much less the bombs he set. Should we let all those in prison free simply because at one point in their life they attended Sunday school?
You guys just don't get it. It's not because of any isolated incident were perhaps there was an indiscretion. But rather a "history" (key word) of spurious "relationships" (another key word) with unsavory individuals. Taken seperately, I agree, maybe not a big deal. Put it all together. Not so. Before Illinois Senate, I know very little about Obama's life other than the schools he attended and being a "community" organizer. Dark spots. Many, many dark spots. To be president???????!!!!!
These individuals are unsavory to you and to people like you in part because they represent a part of america that challenges the status quo. you're perfectly entitled to be comfortable with the status quo. i think it sucks if you are, but you're entitled. hopefull, there are enough voters out there who care about their fellow americans and fellow world citizens to NOT give the republican agenda four more years of free reign
and also, what did you know about palin 3 months ago? what did you know about george bush jr. before he was nominated? how much did you know about them afterward? what's of greater importance--the fact that you're ignorant about someone's history, or the facts of their history?
it's your responsibility to learn about "obama's life" just as you should have learned about george bush before electing him. i'm sorry that you see too many dark spots, but i have a feeling that that probably has something to do with your news sources. information is out there. use the internet for heavens sake and learn about the man. and PLEASE use critical thinking skills while youre doing it. this speculation in spite of contradictory facts is a bad way to handle your voting power.
my source for what? in any case, you're wrong. the most chris matthews i've seen is in random clips on the internet. i don't rely on pundits for news and information.
You incinuated that my source for news was Fox and I was just informing you that the news media is know admitting (after the election) that they really know very little about Obama. The other was a quote from Chris Matthews which clearly shows his agenda.
Obama's now my president and I will ackowledge and respect that fact. I was just giving a "late" response to you.
You SAID that your source was from Fox News... which is why I "insinuated" it in a subsequent comment. I don't know why you're quoting Chris Matthews and assuming that he is my source for some as yet unclarified information. You pretty much came out of nowhere with that one. Can you provide sources for this post-election "liberal media" confession of ignorance? ...because I don't know what you're talking about there either or why you're bringing it up as if it were germane to anything.
Obama isn't anyone's president yet, and if you really think he is a crook or whatever it is that you think--you're certainly not obligated to respect him as a president. In fact, if you think that he is so horrible and dangerous, I don't know why you shouldn't continue trying t open people's eyes to it. I certainly wish more people would have taken Bush to task during his nightmare of a 'presidency.'
Just having a little fun with the Matthews thing. What is a bit annoying is that every time I or another conservative tried to say that Obama was getting a "pass" prior to the elction, we were scoffed at. Now that the election is over, the "agenda" of the media is coming out. Check out: "Brokaw and Rose Admit They Don't Know Much About Obama." for more "confessions" of the media. Any time I or someone else try to criticize Barrack, we were called racists, dividers, hate filled, etc.
I didn't scoff at you. I asked you to explain how you thought he was getting a pass. You neglected to do that and, instead, talked about the dedication from a manifesto that Bill Ayers co-authored in 1974. Thanks for the source; I'll check it out. Hopefully it won't be more silly crap like the Fox story on Prairie Fire. I didn't call you any of those things. I asked you questions and challenged your POV. But I do think that a lot of the Christian rhetoric is hateful.
What would you need as "proof" that Obama got a pass from the media? How about the L.A. Times withholding a video tape with Rhashide Khalidi and Obama while Palin's wardrobe were deemed front page news. We're not gonna agree on this so let's let it go. I probably should not have responded again but I was responding to someone else and saw your reply. You and many else seem to think these things just don't matter. I'm suggesting that perhaps we're seeing the beginning stages of the "L-I-E".
Part of the problem here is that you're making incorrect assumptions about me. I never demanded "proof" of anything. I only asked you to explain your views. I don't know why you would assume that I think media bias and irresponsible journalism don't matter. The fac tthat you do is insulting. In fact, I think yellow journalism is reprehensible. That's why I found the whole Prairie Fire "News Story" so obnoxious.
I do think the use of McCain's campaign money on such a huge wardrobe budget was pretty ridiculous and probably worth a mention in the news--but it certainly was blown out of proportion and shouldn't have been front page news for cycle after cycle. Was the videotape that you're talking about actually incriminating in some way? Or is your point in bringing it up more of a "Obama's career has had him interact with a pro-Palestine Arab, therefore Obama is dangerous" type sentiment?
Because if that's the idea behind you bringing it up: you're right, we won't agree on it. We won't agree first because I don't assume that Rashid is some sort of criminal just because of his vieww NOR do I assume he will have any kind of anti-Israel influence on Obama's presidency. Second, like Ayers, the guy is a respected professor, author and scholar who, as a matter of academic and professional course, has been associated with MANY politicians, including Obama and McCain.
You clearly have a problem with the way Obama has been presented in the media, which is fine. The unfortunate thing here is that the points you bring up in regards to what should have been investigated further don't seem very substantive. I mean.. really? Ayers and Khalidi? A campaign event and a professor's farewell party? Unless you can find some sort of deeper agendae here, it's pretty much grasping at straws to say that these associations somehow indicate danger. There is zero story there.
Zero story aside from the fact that he knows these people, anyway. But the fact that you and I both know about their connection to Obama means that it wasn't exactly hidden from the public.
And I don't know what you mean by "L-I-E"
is that another biblical reference? Because, if so, I'll again direct you to our latest president and all that he's wrought. Let's not pretend that we haven't been lied to already for decades upon decades of political and corporate maneuverings.
Regarding the video tape, a source that supposedly saw it said that it showed Obama applauding to speakers making pretty extreme anti-Israel statements. My only point was the withholding of the tape by the times being another example of a press pass.
If I remember correctly, you asked me to explain my original bible quote which I did. I don't think this blog is the appropriate place to expound further on it.
Regarding "proof", I asked you that because no matter what I bring up, you can simply dismiss it as "yellow jounalism" or some other label and "poof", end of story. I don't think any story or explanation will satisfy you.
Obama won. I expcept that. He's my president and I will respect that office. Let me end by saying that I have thought long and hard about who he is, what he stands for, and yes, his record and present policies and feel that he is wrong for our country. I hope I'm wrong.
Of course I can dismiss things you bring up as yellow journalism--but that doesn't mean that I automatically will. If you brought up a point that didn't seem like insubstantial mudslinging, this conversation would be different. It's just that your arguments haven't struck me as meaningful, and I take things for what they're worth. If you made a strong point, I'd be satisfied. Your argument that the media lacks integrity holds merit.. I only disagree with your opinion on what is newsworthy.
I agree that the tape shouldn't be withheld if there are serious questions about Obama's behavior in it. I won't bother arguing with you about the actual merit of the tape's contents. I think that it sounds like a bunch of hogwash, and you think it sounds important--but I can respect the fact that you don't want to argue about what constitutes hogwash and what doesn't. Our ideologies are different and we clearly have opposing views about what's "right" both for this country and in general.
I would love to get into some other points about what I condier substancial but to tell you the truth, it's very tedious in this 500 letter format. I've actually develpoed a problem with my right eye and I suspect the computer is to blame. This will be my last comment. Feel free to give the have the last word. Seeing that your man won, you have that coming. Take care. I appreciate you dialogueing with me. I think you have been fair in your comments overall.
Neither Palin nor Bush were so secretive about their past. It's funny that only now after Barrack has been elected are the liberal media confessing that they really know very little about him.
Please explain why it is at all reasonable that your opinion of Ayers' character (based on what Foxnews tells you, apparently) is in any way an indication of how good a president Barack Obama will be.
That's laughable. I think by the time 2012 rolls around, the world (or at least those that have any discernment left) will see just how "honest" Barrack has been.
Hoping for a clean, honest campaign from the Republican Party is laughable? You are a minority in this country, an extreme right-winger. Look for reformation within your party, whether you like it or not.
snotbog1, i had a big response all set for a few days ago, but i'll shorten it: the point is this: ayers and obama are two completely different people. ayers was a radical youth in the 60s and 70s, when obama was a little kid living thousands of miles away from anything associated with the weather underground. your SPECULATION that obama has a close relationship with ayers doesn't in any way make it reasonable that obama is a terrorist or whatever silliness youre implying
sorry, snotbog... i tried to post these comments in order so that they would be easy to read. but i apparently failed, lol. they're kinda jumbled up. but i hope the points come across anyway.
1. you are basically saying that obama made sure that the election he was a candidate in was being run legally. he did this to his own advantage, to the detriment of another candidate's would-be campaign.
2. this is basically a lie. if you read about the democratic primaries and caucuses, you will find out that florida and michigan violated their party rules in scheduling democratic primaries too early, and so their delegates could not be seated. obama did not deprive these states of anything--the DNC ruled that the delegates would not be seated. in fact, after the debacle in florida, obama was one of the candidates who REMOVED HIS NAME FROM THE BALLOT in Michigan's subsequent contest.
later, the DNC ruled to restore half votes to both states.
to put it simply: FL and MI violated party rules and the democratic national committee (NOT obama) gave the states half-votes as a penalty. candiates didn't campaign in either state anyway and obama didn't even put hmself on the MI ballot due to their rules violation.
3. what are you talking about? which video did his campaign disallow comments on? as far as i can tell, comments are allowed on all barackobamadotcom channel videos. and then once you've answered that, answer this: so what? if for some reason there's a vid with no comments allowed, why not just post your heckling to another video on the channel?
4. he didn't lie. he said that he was 8 when the weather underground was active. that is true. the people in the weather underground became politically active in the late 60s and early 70s. of course, they remained active for several years--so it is also fair to say that barack was a teenager while they were bombing buildings. that doesn't change the fact that he was not connected to them at all.
it was over 20 years later that ayers and his wife (who also bombed buildings) hosted a meet and greet at their house to introduce obama's senate candidacy. maybe you don't realize it, but ayers is a highly esteemed and accomplished professor, author, and political organizer. it's not really weird or sinister that he would host a chicago democrat's political coming out party. but since he was a radical revolutionary in the 70s, i can see how that might make certain people nervous.
wow.. i started to look up articles and reports about ACORN, obama, & campaign contributions so that i could give you an informed reply to #1... then i clicked back and read the rest of your questions... and realized that you are one of those people that isn't really looking for answers to your questions... wow. now i am just wondering if you're aware that bin ladin was funded, armed, and trained by the CIA ?
Maybe there are similarities between someone people think is a Messiah and someone who is merely a politician, but is able to offer concrete hope after a long, dreary, painful 8 years of virtual fascism. That doesn't mean Obama supporters think he's a Messiah! Perish the thought. We don't need a Messiah. We need a pragmatic, extremely intelligent and educated problem solver, one who won't betray us. Obama has LIVED the philosophy he says he believes.
I like it. Of course action is what everyone wants. The question is, do you believe that Obama will follow through. oone can say that before an election We will see. He deserves a chance to prove it.
Prove it is true and not just talk, all political people talk smack and he does this so smooth the common man just thinks it is so great! My opinion is it is all talk and bull till I see results, Action speaks louder than words! It has been around along time it you are old enought to remember then you know what I am saying.
well, you can't just sit on your ass and wait for results. our society and our species have dug too deep a hole for us to just pin responsibility on a chosen few. we're all going to have to pitch in and make sure that we solve the problems that need solving. that includes you.
I happen to be retired military and have not sat and watched the world just exist. This campain crap is out of control and people do not read and listen well. Hope we get the best today not just a puppet on a string. I want to see someone do what they said, just wait till the house and senate get elected then we need to see what the one individual can do. Don't be a hater vote Ralph Nader!
my point is that regardless of who wins the election and what they do with the office, every one of us will still have the responsibility of safeguarding ourselves, the earth, and everything on it. think past the vote. be a part of the action that will bring the results you want to see. that goes for me too, of course.
i wish some people could just see how dedicated this man is to helping the people of america... maybe then they would understand why he is willing to sacrifice his own life in order to help others... GOD BLESS OBAMA!!
CITIZENS OF THE WORLD.. your deceiver has come to lead you astray. Punishment to those who question or disagree with Him. Instead, subdue yourself to his rivoting tongue. Believe his empty promises. He will help all at the cost of a ficticous few. His charisma deserves your blind obedience. His experience is of the divine. He merits our unchecked power. Finally, He has come to reign over his dominion! We're free to speak this b/c there is no stopping Him now.
I was at the Sunrise, FL rally last night and missed the ad. So glad to watch it now... What a positive message! I saw McCain/Palin on TV today spreading their hate, intolerance, and lies. The contrast couldn't be more stark! Please, God, let Barack Obama win... Our country is so angry and divided. The Republicans will only make that worse. Obama/Biden will lift and unite us as a nation and restore our standing in the world!
I am not american. I wish I could vote!!! And vote for Obama. Bush has messed up not only America but the global economy and peace as well!!! America please vote for Obama. This guy is real!!!!!!!!!!!!
letthetruth, the ad was paid for with campaign money, which people donated specifically to help obama win the election. the campaign is obliged to spend this money on things like buying ad time. spending campaign funds on non-campaign related things is a fun idea, but it's illegal (and unethical). if you're concerned about the suffering of people, there are lots of ways to help out either by donating your own time or money, and encouraging others to do the same.
I am an obama supporter and I really doubt that obama will be able to keep all his promisses, I mean healthcare in this country is such a joke that I think it will take over 10 years to fix, but having said that I think if McCain is elected we will be headed for disaster! I would strongly consider moving out of the U.S. if McCain is elected.
Its funny how people want to call Obama the anti christ when he has said nothing but positive things. He is a community organizer! Jesus was a community organizer. I anyone is closer to an anti-christ its bush. U got a Bible verse for him snotbog?
First of all I was joking about Bush being the anti-christ. Second, I feel like I can say whatever I feel. Third, I probably kno the Bible better than u. I'm sure you've got better things to do than bother me. If you don't like what I write then don't read it. Aight??! Just so you kno, I'm not going to go back and forth with u. I'm too mature for that and I actually have a life. I'll leave that to the rest of you internet geeks, nerds, blog-heads or whatever u wanna call urselves.
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me (Jesus) first.
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."
Thanks for posting this! I missed it because I was at work.
George Carlin once said that if you scratch the surface of a cynic you'll find the heart of a disillusioned optimist. I've been disillusioned many times over and I understand my compatriots on the left who are critical of Obama. I believe that we have to be careful not to let him become Republican-lite like Bill Clinton.
I continue to hold out hope that Obama brings about the sort of change I've fought for my entire adult life.
thanks for posting, this man is great. He is the reason why i registered to vote, and i bet he is the reason why the majority of people my age registered as well! he touches the lives of many!
Thanks for asking. Thank you also for not calling me a fear-monger, racist, divider and a plethera of other names I generally get from the left. To help me answer you thoughtfully, can you first tell me whether or not you are fimiliar with this passage?
wow... talk about delusion. snotbag1's comment is exactly the kind of thing that scares me about my fellow americans.... and human beings in general :(
the quoting of the bible here as if that passage were relevant to this video is dismaying. the fact that you are trying to pin a particular bit of scripture onto this election to suit your politics is disgusting. and the fact that thousands of people mindlessly yet fervently do the same thing is frightening.
And being called names like mindless, disgusting, and frightful is great example of your "tolerance" I guess. I'll decide for myself what I see is "relevant", not you. Too bad Obama didn't say "Spread the LOVE around".
you've already decided that you think it's relevant, clearly. i'm saying that i disagree with you and that i think the fact that you posted that passage is frightening and sad. i do think bible thumping is mindless and disgusting. that doesn't mean that i'm intolerant, it means i have a low opinion of opportunistic religiosity. intolerance is something else entirely, and it's something i have not demonstrated.
I understand and sympathise with your emotion. We're all a little worked up over this election. I think people that disagree can have conversation without name calling or sugar-coating. The trick is to stay cool. It's hard, especially with politics.
I think the bible verse is frightening. I'm not sure posting it is. As far as sad goes, if by that you mean "lame", that's your right to think that. I'm actually not a bible thumper. The bible verse was simply a tool to stir some minds in having a conversation. I believe it worked. You can diagree with my thought process now but you can't exactly call it mindless. I do think the name calling I've gotten from the left is mindless. It's a way of closing down conversation, not engaging in one.
but you're not really using it as a tool to stir up 'conversation,' are you? you're clearly posting it to get a certain reaction out of people on the 'left'--not to probe anyone's feelings or opinions. if you wanted a conversation, you'd be discussing your opinion and trying to understand others'--not posting up bible verses so that you can get a reaction out of people. your tactics are insulting. and i still don't see how religion is *truly* relevant here.
Your theory is reasonable but the results here show it to be untrue. We ARE having a conversation and it's even fairly cordial. I respect that your view of the bible is much different than mine. I see it to be true. I also see passages that speak to the times we are living in. No, I'm in NO WAY convinced that Obama is the anti-Christ but I think there are things that can be learned from passages that describe him. I'd be glad to share that with you if you're interested. If not, that's o.k. too.
well, i would argue that thus far there hasn't really been any conversation--just quibbling back and forth. but if we're ready to start conversing then, ok, share your point of view. and please include some explanation of why your notion that Barack Obama is described in the bible is at all reasonable (as opposed to convenient or coincidental).
O.K. I'll give it a shot. First, you seem to assume that my scripture verse is directed at Obama, yet a closer read will reveal that it more speaks to a broader delusion that will take place in the last days (not the end of the world but more accurately, the end of the age). Do I think that we're seeing the fullfillment of that verse? Not necessarily. But there is something strange taking place in American society. Whether or not this is super-natural or just a generational thing, I'm not sure.
I know you've already heard the complaints from the right about Obama not being properly vetted, especially in the news media (aside from Fox and conserv. talk radio). I've seen a number of elections yet I've never witnessed this phenomenon. To me, it is bizarre. Also, if I try to talk to an Obama supporter about my concern, I'm immediately attacked as a racist, bigot, zenophobe, hate monger, divider. You name it. This is also very, very bizarre and something that I've never, ever seen before.
Even friends of mine whom have known me for 15+ years have attacked me in this way. They don't want to rationally look at these claims/questions concerning Obama's radical associations, record and views but rather react in an emotive and blind utopianistic fashion concerning Obama. They chant the mantra of "change" but don't consider what that change will actually look like. They end it by saying "I'll never change and you'll never change."
The scariest thing I've seen is a quote on one of these blogs that simply read "He's the ONE!" with 50+ thumbs up. Call me an alarmist but that's messiah-speak. Please know, as a Christian, the bible states that 2 messiahs will appear on the world stage soon. The second will be Jesus. He will be proceeded by another Christ-like messiah. The world will love him and blindly follow him. Yet evil will be found in him. I'm not saying that Obama's that guy but there are many parallels.
I won't go into biblical details and scripture verses unless you are specifically interested in that sort of thing. I'm sure you see the bible differently than myself and I respect that. At least I hope you can symphathise with my viewpoint and understand why I believe it is important. I may be wrong in my views but I don't see them as invalid just because you see them differently. I hope that makes sense to you.

AlbasurrahTV 3 years ago
you already said that after part1.
I don't know how he should be able to "manage" his relatives. I don't manage my aunt, do you manage yours?
People can held accountable for their marriages and how they raise their kids. How do you feel McCain and Obama are doing in this regard?
grandmasterschmidt 3 years ago
Dear all,
If Obama did not know where his father's families WERE in Kenyan, then when Obama said he did not know that his aunt is living in US illegally, he would have spoken TRUTHFULLY, that is, IF OBAMA DID NOT VISIT HIS HOMETOWN, but Obama had visited his hometown!

And if you go back through history you'll find that, if humans are involved, Strange Things Are Always Afoot.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago

6. I've studied religions and the history of how the bible came to be written enough to know that I don't buy into the Christian faith at all. But regardless of that, the whole "false messiah" theory can be applied to pretty much any noted historical figure, because they're all human and they all have flaws to varying degrees. Hitler, Gandhi, and George Bush come to mind.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
That's the beauty of parables: They address universal truths and so can be applied universally. After Obama's time has come and gone, people will be drawing the same parallels with another celebrated hero.

7. I really do wish you would go into specific details, because so far you are just doing what I asked you not to do: giving a bunch of convenient and coincidental examples of how Obama might be some sort of biblical prophetic figure signalling the coming of the Christ. Your arguments are vague and weak.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago

I do partially agree with you that "one of us" ain't paying attention.
snotbog1 3 years ago
Wow, and to think Ayers sat on an education board founded by a Republican and advisor to Reagan.

babyCourtnay 3 years ago
Really?!? I'm willing to bet you know whom you're voting for.
snotbog1 3 years ago
No, I don't think Obama had much of a relationship with Ayers. And the other point is that if Ayers was such a terrorist fifteen years ago, what was he doing on an education board founded by a Republican and adviser to Ronald Reagan? Do Republicans like to "pal around with domestic terrorists", or had Ayers reformed.
Considering that Ayers had won the Citizen of the Year Award, I'm thinking the latter.
jamesecash 3 years ago
We know by Ayers' own words that he hasn't reformed. We have an article (2001) and a radio interview (2002) were he states unequivically that he's not repentent for what he did.
Regarding Obama, patterns come in 3's. Obama's past links him with Marxist and communist. Rev Wright, for example is a Marxist. Black Liberation Theology is Marxist. Google Marxist and Black Liberation Theology for yourself. There's also Khalidi, Pfleger, and others.
snotbog1 3 years ago
Bottom line is this: If you want a reformer, vote for McCain. If you want to dramatically change America, vote for Obama. For me, I like America the way it is. Is it perfect? No Are there things we can improve? Yes. Do I want to dramatically change it in the direction I believe Obama's going to take it? Absolutely N-O-T!!!!!!
snotbog1 3 years ago
That's not true. Ayer's said that he wished he had done more to end the Vietnam War... he stated that he did not mean he wished he blew up more bombs.
I'm not sure about the others, however, Republicans have distorted this and so many other things during this and previous campaigns that I just assume these are fabrications.
jamesecash 3 years ago
Sorry to disappoint you. Search "Ayers radio interview". I just got through listening to Ayers say that he did not regret the extreme measures he took. Listen for your yourself. It's not ambiguous. They just discovered a book Ayers wrote in which one of the people he dedicated it to was Sirhan Sirhan. He was the man who shot and killed Robert Kennedy. Does this matter? Of course not. Nothing matters except for "change, change, change". We've become a world of zombies.
snotbog1 3 years ago
Wow, and to think Ayers sat on an education board founded by a Republican and advisor to Reagan.
jamesecash 3 years ago
Yeah, and Hitler probably watched American movies. What's your point? I'll bet you people on death row have done some good things in their life too. So what? What does this prove? I'll admit that the verdict is still on how close Ayers and Obama were. But don't tell me Ayers was this great little fellow; come on!! we have him in his own words and writing, much less the bombs he set. Should we let all those in prison free simply because at one point in their life they attended Sunday school?
snotbog1 3 years ago
You guys just don't get it. It's not because of any isolated incident were perhaps there was an indiscretion. But rather a "history" (key word) of spurious "relationships" (another key word) with unsavory individuals. Taken seperately, I agree, maybe not a big deal. Put it all together. Not so. Before Illinois Senate, I know very little about Obama's life other than the schools he attended and being a "community" organizer. Dark spots. Many, many dark spots. To be president???????!!!!!
snotbog1 3 years ago
These individuals are unsavory to you and to people like you in part because they represent a part of america that challenges the status quo. you're perfectly entitled to be comfortable with the status quo. i think it sucks if you are, but you're entitled. hopefull, there are enough voters out there who care about their fellow americans and fellow world citizens to NOT give the republican agenda four more years of free reign

and also, what did you know about palin 3 months ago? what did you know about george bush jr. before he was nominated? how much did you know about them afterward? what's of greater importance--the fact that you're ignorant about someone's history, or the facts of their history?
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
it's your responsibility to learn about "obama's life" just as you should have learned about george bush before electing him. i'm sorry that you see too many dark spots, but i have a feeling that that probably has something to do with your news sources. information is out there. use the internet for heavens sake and learn about the man. and PLEASE use critical thinking skills while youre doing it. this speculation in spite of contradictory facts is a bad way to handle your voting power.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
And your source would be... let me guess: Chris Matthews who said recently that it was "his job to ensure Obama has a successful presidency."
snotbog1 3 years ago
my source for what? in any case, you're wrong. the most chris matthews i've seen is in random clips on the internet. i don't rely on pundits for news and information.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
You incinuated that my source for news was Fox and I was just informing you that the news media is know admitting (after the election) that they really know very little about Obama. The other was a quote from Chris Matthews which clearly shows his agenda.
Obama's now my president and I will ackowledge and respect that fact. I was just giving a "late" response to you.
snotbog1 3 years ago
You SAID that your source was from Fox News... which is why I "insinuated" it in a subsequent comment. I don't know why you're quoting Chris Matthews and assuming that he is my source for some as yet unclarified information. You pretty much came out of nowhere with that one. Can you provide sources for this post-election "liberal media" confession of ignorance? ...because I don't know what you're talking about there either or why you're bringing it up as if it were germane to anything.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
Obama isn't anyone's president yet, and if you really think he is a crook or whatever it is that you think--you're certainly not obligated to respect him as a president. In fact, if you think that he is so horrible and dangerous, I don't know why you shouldn't continue trying t open people's eyes to it. I certainly wish more people would have taken Bush to task during his nightmare of a 'presidency.'
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
Just having a little fun with the Matthews thing. What is a bit annoying is that every time I or another conservative tried to say that Obama was getting a "pass" prior to the elction, we were scoffed at. Now that the election is over, the "agenda" of the media is coming out. Check out: "Brokaw and Rose Admit They Don't Know Much About Obama." for more "confessions" of the media. Any time I or someone else try to criticize Barrack, we were called racists, dividers, hate filled, etc.
snotbog1 3 years ago
I didn't scoff at you. I asked you to explain how you thought he was getting a pass. You neglected to do that and, instead, talked about the dedication from a manifesto that Bill Ayers co-authored in 1974. Thanks for the source; I'll check it out. Hopefully it won't be more silly crap like the Fox story on Prairie Fire. I didn't call you any of those things. I asked you questions and challenged your POV. But I do think that a lot of the Christian rhetoric is hateful.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
What would you need as "proof" that Obama got a pass from the media? How about the L.A. Times withholding a video tape with Rhashide Khalidi and Obama while Palin's wardrobe were deemed front page news. We're not gonna agree on this so let's let it go. I probably should not have responded again but I was responding to someone else and saw your reply. You and many else seem to think these things just don't matter. I'm suggesting that perhaps we're seeing the beginning stages of the "L-I-E".
snotbog1 3 years ago
Part of the problem here is that you're making incorrect assumptions about me. I never demanded "proof" of anything. I only asked you to explain your views. I don't know why you would assume that I think media bias and irresponsible journalism don't matter. The fac tthat you do is insulting. In fact, I think yellow journalism is reprehensible. That's why I found the whole Prairie Fire "News Story" so obnoxious.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
I do think the use of McCain's campaign money on such a huge wardrobe budget was pretty ridiculous and probably worth a mention in the news--but it certainly was blown out of proportion and shouldn't have been front page news for cycle after cycle. Was the videotape that you're talking about actually incriminating in some way? Or is your point in bringing it up more of a "Obama's career has had him interact with a pro-Palestine Arab, therefore Obama is dangerous" type sentiment?
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
Because if that's the idea behind you bringing it up: you're right, we won't agree on it. We won't agree first because I don't assume that Rashid is some sort of criminal just because of his vieww NOR do I assume he will have any kind of anti-Israel influence on Obama's presidency. Second, like Ayers, the guy is a respected professor, author and scholar who, as a matter of academic and professional course, has been associated with MANY politicians, including Obama and McCain.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
You clearly have a problem with the way Obama has been presented in the media, which is fine. The unfortunate thing here is that the points you bring up in regards to what should have been investigated further don't seem very substantive. I mean.. really? Ayers and Khalidi? A campaign event and a professor's farewell party? Unless you can find some sort of deeper agendae here, it's pretty much grasping at straws to say that these associations somehow indicate danger. There is zero story there.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
Zero story aside from the fact that he knows these people, anyway. But the fact that you and I both know about their connection to Obama means that it wasn't exactly hidden from the public.
And I don't know what you mean by "L-I-E"
is that another biblical reference? Because, if so, I'll again direct you to our latest president and all that he's wrought. Let's not pretend that we haven't been lied to already for decades upon decades of political and corporate maneuverings.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
Regarding the video tape, a source that supposedly saw it said that it showed Obama applauding to speakers making pretty extreme anti-Israel statements. My only point was the withholding of the tape by the times being another example of a press pass.
If I remember correctly, you asked me to explain my original bible quote which I did. I don't think this blog is the appropriate place to expound further on it.
snotbog1 3 years ago
Regarding "proof", I asked you that because no matter what I bring up, you can simply dismiss it as "yellow jounalism" or some other label and "poof", end of story. I don't think any story or explanation will satisfy you.
Obama won. I expcept that. He's my president and I will respect that office. Let me end by saying that I have thought long and hard about who he is, what he stands for, and yes, his record and present policies and feel that he is wrong for our country. I hope I'm wrong.
snotbog1 3 years ago
Of course I can dismiss things you bring up as yellow journalism--but that doesn't mean that I automatically will. If you brought up a point that didn't seem like insubstantial mudslinging, this conversation would be different. It's just that your arguments haven't struck me as meaningful, and I take things for what they're worth. If you made a strong point, I'd be satisfied. Your argument that the media lacks integrity holds merit.. I only disagree with your opinion on what is newsworthy.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
I agree that the tape shouldn't be withheld if there are serious questions about Obama's behavior in it. I won't bother arguing with you about the actual merit of the tape's contents. I think that it sounds like a bunch of hogwash, and you think it sounds important--but I can respect the fact that you don't want to argue about what constitutes hogwash and what doesn't. Our ideologies are different and we clearly have opposing views about what's "right" both for this country and in general.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
I would love to get into some other points about what I condier substancial but to tell you the truth, it's very tedious in this 500 letter format. I've actually develpoed a problem with my right eye and I suspect the computer is to blame. This will be my last comment. Feel free to give the have the last word. Seeing that your man won, you have that coming. Take care. I appreciate you dialogueing with me. I think you have been fair in your comments overall.

snotbog1, i had a big response all set for a few days ago, but i'll shorten it: the point is this: ayers and obama are two completely different people. ayers was a radical youth in the 60s and 70s, when obama was a little kid living thousands of miles away from anything associated with the weather underground. your SPECULATION that obama has a close relationship with ayers doesn't in any way make it reasonable that obama is a terrorist or whatever silliness youre implying

1] Obama deprived the people of chicago the right to vote for candidates other than himself through legality;
2] Obama deprived the people of 2 other states to right to have their votes counted legally refusing to answer the call of Hillary for re-election;
3] Obama now deprived forumers to right to post their comments on youtube; and right of hecklers in YouTube to speak;
4] Obama lied that he -Obama- was 8, but he was 35 when Ayers had "Coffee" to support Obama's first run for office!

explaining4u...
1. you are basically saying that obama made sure that the election he was a candidate in was being run legally. he did this to his own advantage, to the detriment of another candidate's would-be campaign.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
2. this is basically a lie. if you read about the democratic primaries and caucuses, you will find out that florida and michigan violated their party rules in scheduling democratic primaries too early, and so their delegates could not be seated. obama did not deprive these states of anything--the DNC ruled that the delegates would not be seated. in fact, after the debacle in florida, obama was one of the candidates who REMOVED HIS NAME FROM THE BALLOT in Michigan's subsequent contest.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
later, the DNC ruled to restore half votes to both states.
to put it simply: FL and MI violated party rules and the democratic national committee (NOT obama) gave the states half-votes as a penalty. candiates didn't campaign in either state anyway and obama didn't even put hmself on the MI ballot due to their rules violation.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
3. what are you talking about? which video did his campaign disallow comments on? as far as i can tell, comments are allowed on all barackobamadotcom channel videos. and then once you've answered that, answer this: so what? if for some reason there's a vid with no comments allowed, why not just post your heckling to another video on the channel?
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
4. he didn't lie. he said that he was 8 when the weather underground was active. that is true. the people in the weather underground became politically active in the late 60s and early 70s. of course, they remained active for several years--so it is also fair to say that barack was a teenager while they were bombing buildings. that doesn't change the fact that he was not connected to them at all.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
it was over 20 years later that ayers and his wife (who also bombed buildings) hosted a meet and greet at their house to introduce obama's senate candidacy. maybe you don't realize it, but ayers is a highly esteemed and accomplished professor, author, and political organizer. it's not really weird or sinister that he would host a chicago democrat's political coming out party. but since he was a radical revolutionary in the 70s, i can see how that might make certain people nervous.

That doesn't mean Obama supporters think he's a Messiah! Perish the thought. We don't need a Messiah. We need a pragmatic, extremely intelligent and educated problem solver, one who won't betray us.

Druzzy84 3 years ago
First of all, I am an Obama supporter!!
That being said:
I suggest you only post about things you know about.
If you knew the Bible, you would know that is says Antichrist is the "Great Deceiver" and will appear at first as a wonderful person and great leader.

Yes I do.

Let's hope President Obama will keep his promises, and restore faith in America.
KlavierPlaya 3 years ago 4
why does he have to be the "other" so as not to vote for me?
he is a abiding citizen, a loving and caring family man.
he has served his community by doing community service in chicago.
he has taught the constitution to fellow americans.
he went to great schools through hard work and scholarships and workked his way up to where he is now.
my question is, what more do people want from him if they say race has nothing to do with it?

What are you trying to say snotbog1?
KlavierPlaya 3 years ago
Thanks for asking. Thank you also for not calling me a fear-monger, racist, divider and a plethera of other names I generally get from the left. To help me answer you thoughtfully, can you first tell me whether or not you are fimiliar with this passage?
snotbog1 3 years ago
wow... talk about delusion. snotbag1's comment is exactly the kind of thing that scares me about my fellow americans.... and human beings in general :(
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
What is it in particular that scares you?
I'm actually a real nice guy. (most of the time)
snotbog1 3 years ago
the quoting of the bible here as if that passage were relevant to this video is dismaying. the fact that you are trying to pin a particular bit of scripture onto this election to suit your politics is disgusting. and the fact that thousands of people mindlessly yet fervently do the same thing is frightening.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
And being called names like mindless, disgusting, and frightful is great example of your "tolerance" I guess. I'll decide for myself what I see is "relevant", not you. Too bad Obama didn't say "Spread the LOVE around".
snotbog1 3 years ago
you've already decided that you think it's relevant, clearly. i'm saying that i disagree with you and that i think the fact that you posted that passage is frightening and sad. i do think bible thumping is mindless and disgusting. that doesn't mean that i'm intolerant, it means i have a low opinion of opportunistic religiosity. intolerance is something else entirely, and it's something i have not demonstrated.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
sorry if i've insulted you, but i really don't know how to sugar-coat my feelings about it.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
I understand and sympathise with your emotion. We're all a little worked up over this election. I think people that disagree can have conversation without name calling or sugar-coating. The trick is to stay cool. It's hard, especially with politics.
Thank you for your apology.
snotbog1 3 years ago
I think the bible verse is frightening. I'm not sure posting it is. As far as sad goes, if by that you mean "lame", that's your right to think that. I'm actually not a bible thumper. The bible verse was simply a tool to stir some minds in having a conversation. I believe it worked. You can diagree with my thought process now but you can't exactly call it mindless. I do think the name calling I've gotten from the left is mindless. It's a way of closing down conversation, not engaging in one.
snotbog1 3 years ago
but you're not really using it as a tool to stir up 'conversation,' are you? you're clearly posting it to get a certain reaction out of people on the 'left'--not to probe anyone's feelings or opinions. if you wanted a conversation, you'd be discussing your opinion and trying to understand others'--not posting up bible verses so that you can get a reaction out of people. your tactics are insulting. and i still don't see how religion is *truly* relevant here.
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
Your theory is reasonable but the results here show it to be untrue. We ARE having a conversation and it's even fairly cordial. I respect that your view of the bible is much different than mine. I see it to be true. I also see passages that speak to the times we are living in. No, I'm in NO WAY convinced that Obama is the anti-Christ but I think there are things that can be learned from passages that describe him. I'd be glad to share that with you if you're interested. If not, that's o.k. too.
snotbog1 3 years ago
well, i would argue that thus far there hasn't really been any conversation--just quibbling back and forth. but if we're ready to start conversing then, ok, share your point of view. and please include some explanation of why your notion that Barack Obama is described in the bible is at all reasonable (as opposed to convenient or coincidental).
whocareswhatever 3 years ago
Whether or not this is super-natural or just a generational thing, I'm not sure.
snotbog1 3 years ago
I know you've already heard the complaints from the right about Obama not being properly vetted, especially in the news media (aside from Fox and conserv. talk radio). I've seen a number of elections yet I've never witnessed this phenomenon. To me, it is bizarre. Also, if I try to talk to an Obama supporter about my concern, I'm immediately attacked as a racist, bigot, zenophobe, hate monger, divider. You name it. This is also very, very bizarre and something that I've never, ever seen before.
snotbog1 3 years ago
Even friends of mine whom have known me for 15+ years have attacked me in this way. They don't want to rationally look at these claims/questions concerning Obama's radical associations, record and views but rather react in an emotive and blind utopianistic fashion concerning Obama. They chant the mantra of "change" but don't consider what that change will actually look like. They end it by saying "I'll never change and you'll never change."
Bit of irony there, I guess.
snotbog1 3 years ago
The scariest thing I've seen is a quote on one of these blogs that simply read "He's the ONE!" with 50+ thumbs up. Call me an alarmist but that's messiah-speak. Please know, as a Christian, the bible states that 2 messiahs will appear on the world stage soon. The second will be Jesus. He will be proceeded by another Christ-like messiah. The world will love him and blindly follow him. Yet evil will be found in him. I'm not saying that Obama's that guy but there are many parallels.
snotbog1 3 years ago
I won't go into biblical details and scripture verses unless you are specifically interested in that sort of thing. I'm sure you see the bible differently than myself and I respect that. At least I hope you can symphathise with my viewpoint and understand why I believe it is important. I may be wrong in my views but I don't see them as invalid just because you see them differently. I hope that makes sense to you.
