@elgamer95 Unfortunately, the PS3 and PSP versions are counted as different games. This is because the PS3 version has a bunch of new game modes and such that the PSP version doesn't have.

What the heck? I noticed there's additional moves to this tetris game than the ones I've played. This seems a bit more "technical" than SNES or Gameboy Tetris, which were some of the best versions out there.

Can someone tell me if these new moves add more depth to the game, or do they simply make the game's difficulty easier? I like that the classic Tetris games were solid and challenging, even without the extra moves like T-Spins and whatnot.

@redeyedol T-spins and other twists are what make these new Tetris games modern games. You don't have to do them (some people just go for speed), but in games with multiplayer, t-spins can send as much (if not more) garbage blocks to your opponent as a Tetris. And once you get used to the faster side-to-side piece movement and hard drops, it's hard to go back to earlier games. Check out the Tetris Concept Wiki for all the technical jargon!

Interesting. What about the overall challenge? I heard this version goes up to only 15 levels, whereas the Gameboy and SNES (Dr. Mario & Tetris) versions could go on forever. If I recall correctly, the GB version could go to level 20, whereas the SNES version could go to 30+ (I don't know exactly "how" fast it can go).

I just want a game with unlimited challenge, and not watered down. Of course, I will take your word for it and check out the site. :)

@redeyedol Yeah, that's definitely one thing the older games have over the newer ones. With this version of Tetris on the PSP and Tetris Friends on Facebook, you have a "goal" to clear before the game ends. And the "goal" doesn't exactly translate to "lines needed to clear," either. In my video response, you can see how a back-to-back T-Spin Triple at Level 15 brings the goal down from 63 to 39! True endless modes are hard to come by these days, which is why I still like Tetris DS the best.

Ah, yeah. I don't quite get why most "modern" Tetris releases don't include a real endless mode. Wasn't that part of the old school fun - being able to see just how much you can really handle before the game overwhelms you?

I'm also not fond of a trend that a lot of modern Tetris games seem to have now; holding pieces, and the "game waits for you to finish rotating your piece" thing. That seems to affect the challenge factor for me lol.

@redeyedol Well, if you want a challenge I recommend PSX "Tetrix X". Find an emulator for it and attempt the single player mode, i went up to Level 86 thus far ^^

I just don't like how you can hold a piece or shimmy a piece into a spot where it shouldn't be able to get to.

@dannygonzy PSP component cables were $20 new... and if you buy used, you can get a Gefen Home Theater Scaler and a Blackmagic Intensity Pro for under $200 each.

I'm not saying the setup isn't expensive (I had to sell off some games), but I didn't buy them just so I could record PSP games. I also record TV shows and PS3 gameplay footage in HD with the Intensity Pro.

I can beat Marathon Mode every time I play it. I don't hold pieces or even do T-Spins etc. I keep it as original as possible but it's easy compared to the original Gameboy version.

the only thing i can think of is that he pressed the rotation button as soon as the block was supposed to have fell down a row/snapped into place. so the block rotates as it goes down, making it fit into that tight space.

Got it! Sometimes, Tetris feels wrong (Tetris Plus for the PS1 or Tetris Evolution on the 360). Sometimes, Tetris feels right (Tetris on the Gameboy/DS or Tetris Splash on the 360). This one feels right. Buy it without remorse.

You don't get to pick, but there are three songs. Start at the lowest level on Marathon to hear them all.

You're going to need the video cables (composite or component) made specifically for the PSPgo. You can't play PSP games on a PS3.

I'm really happy they finally released a Tetris for the PsP but i wish the controls were less crapy than that, i mean, if i compare my 40 lines record from other games, my best time being 44.67sec on the Tetris Splash on xbox, 51sec on Tetris Online on PC and i can't remember how much i did on Tetris Friend, Well on the PsP i can't get under 1:20 yet : / The control are just too slow to react and i can't move the pieces around easyly.

If they'd just fix that and add multiplayer it'd be awsome.
