That "interesting..." towards the end just solidified Thavius Beck as my favorite Dubspot instructor of all time. But seriously, this video is very helpful. I never realized how capable clip envelopes were before. Thanks so much
Damn, this video could've came out like 1/2 month ago! You can't imagine how much time I've wasted just to understand what the 100% value really meant.
Especially when automating sends to the Return Tracks, where you have to first set the maximum value to actually send anything through, instead of having a "master" value defined on the automation, I didn't even realized that returns deal with db values, and not % for a long, long time...
But still really useful, and well explained though!
hey i juss had a quick question; how do you know the order of the effects on your effect rack? For example, how would you know to put a compressor before or after a reverb or something?
@OMGlvl86turtlepilot - the order the effects are in determines which one(s) the sounds will go through first. By putting the Auto Filter before the Reverb on the synth track, we can do a low pass filter sweep on the synth sample without also filtering the Reverb... it's all about figuring out which effect(s) you want affected by the other effects in your rack, and placing them in order accordingly. Hope that makes sense.
@OMGlvl86turtlepilot i think the biggest thing is if you're using a saturator. I think where u put it changes it quite a bit more then for instance the placment of a reverb and filter.
How do you make the bass in the first clip that you play!? That beat is crazy!?? Is it with the arpeggiator??

great tutorial Thavius - always good to go back to basix.
just a little question - is there a way to lock envelope edit points to the grid?
my method is usually to select a region and then drag the env line.
but sometimes i wish there was an option to numerically edit points...
any idea?

good stuff. dubspot i love you!!

i noticed that in some dubstep wobbles it sounds good to cut out 1.3 for abt a quarter note.
cause on a typical dubstep beat, it really brings out the snare
