Boy people sure have a preconceived notion of what "Hell" means. I wonder if most people know that Hell means "The place of the dead". Assigning a punishment aspect to the word "Hell" is why people dreamed up Limbo. Heaven is the place of the living. Those being with God. Hell is the place of the dead, those being not with God.
Dante's levels of Hell would be a more accurate way to conceptualize Hell. Some will suffer for eternity, so not. All will be without God.
The mark of the beast is a heretical baptism (forehead) caused by the Masonic Vatican after 1944, or a Masonic handshake (right hand). Trent and Acts 19: if anyone says that John's baptism (Holy Spirit/Spiritus Sanctus) has the force of Christ's baptism (Holy Ghost/Spiritum Sanctum), let him be anathema. The name switch causes a change in the character of that soul. This Sacramental character is the secret of the priesthood and is why Masonry had to destroy the Rite. FATIMAMOVEMENT d o t c o m
"In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ..." (Col 2:11). As Jesus was circumcised when He was just 8 days old means He was an infant so why not the sons and daughters of Christ to be baptized in infancy. This is a solid proof of infant baptism.
Children don't need to be baptized......Matthew 19:14..."But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The only people who die in their sins are those who reject Christ's work on the cross. Young children are not capable of making such a decision. Besides, water fits into the works category. No works are necessary for our salvation. Once Christ died on the cross we entered the dispensation of grace.
Regarding Children - They are included. ALL must be baptised, whether infants or old. Your quotation of Matthew does not even come close to disproving this. This has nothing to do with Batpism. Besides, baptism only became necessary after the ressurrection of Christ. This verse disproves sola fide. Christ is not talking about their inability to make such a decision at all!! If so, then Christ is telling us to become such as we cannot make this decision!
No, the real shame is the countless millions who follow man made doctrines and reject the Church of Christ, and the multitude who hear the Gospel and then distort it.
You are taking the verse out of context. There is no connection between that and the spiritual rite of Baptism. Baptism is needed to impart actual Grace. Grace is a gift from God that allows us to participate in the Divine life.Actual Grace is that help from God which enlightens our reason and moves our will to do good and to avoid evil.Sanctifying Grace is the Grace that stays in our souls that is necessary for salvation.Good works are needed for salvation..
we now have a modern day prophet, Thomas S Monson from The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints, we now have the priesthood which is the authority to act upon the lords name here in earth and can be traced back to him, we have again twelve apostles and The Book of Mormon another testament of Jesus Christ which is the history of the ancient inhavitants of the Americas written by men called upon by god like Moses or Peter in the Bible which talks about the works of Jesus in the Midde East.
The Pope, is, of course, an Antichrist, while the religious machinery of the Vatican itself is the Whore of Babylon (as it derives its rituals and symbolism from the Babylonian religion of the seductive Semiramis). The Beast is the political structure of the so called "Holy Roman Empire of the Vatican, which will eventually amalgamate into a One World Religion and Government.
@michaelspurling Nope, he is clearly revealed by historical evidence and biblical prophecy to be an antichrist. THE antichrist being the back pope, the jesuit general who runs the show. Acts4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
I was baptised as a baby by my family @ an apartment. I'd like to know since Im 26 now I'd like to give my life fully to the lord, can I get baptised again to repent from all my past continual sins, or go to confession? ty for your time
@RalphGalloza you can only be baptized once...so if you were baptized as a baby,you cannot be baptized again as an adult. are you thinking of changing religions and joining the roman catholic church? that is what i am doing now,and if this is the case for yourself,start going to the RCIA classes,and you can get confirmation and become a Catholic...blessings...
No if you want to be baptize more than once you can, but you have to be baptized in the name of Jesus, its in the bible and i do have scriptures to back me up, not what man say but what God say.
Yes you need to be baptized again in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. You have to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ because there is no power in any other name, many people, and other cultures don't allow or want to her about Jesus because there's power in that name. Get baptized in the name of Jesus.
@RalphGalloza Well, the Word of God says you must believe first, THEN be baptized, so your infant baptism is unbiblical. Confession will not help you, you must confess to God. If you want to give your life fully to the Lord, leave the catholic church and pick up a KJV bible and simply start reading and praying.
OMG I'm so dumb. It took my this long after watching this video so many times and going to the Tridentine Mass in Alhambra that this is the same Sts. Peter and Paul in Wlimington that also does the Tridentine. LOL!
why babtise your child so young? they have no fault for Adan's transgression. isn't that why JESUS CHRIST did the atonement for us? n btw the children should have their free agency to choose for themselves if they want to get babtized or not at an age where they can understand.
Jas 2:14-18 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well, but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. I
1 Timothy 4:1-3 1. Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. 2. Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with hot iron; 3. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
The Catholic Church forbids its priest to get married to abstain from meats on friday.
Have you read 1 Corinthians 7? Or Matthew 19:12? or 1 Corinthians 9:27? These are all important verses. Concerning Timothy, you're missing something. The reason Paul wrote this is because there were heretics who were claiming that marriage and sex were inherently evil, which we know is certainly not the case. And the same is the case with eating meat (you know it was a huge culture thing).
Catholic priests KNOW that they are giving up certain things, but they don't mind. They're happy to do so.
Well, any priest HAS to study the Bible when he is in the seminary, and when we go to Mass every Sunday we read three Bible passages. Also, all priests, monks, and nuns have to do Liturgy of the Hours 5 times a day, and each prayer is filled with Scripture. The Canticles of Zechariah and Mary are the first prayers that come to my mind, which are direct Bible passages that are common Catholic prayers. So yes, my pastor goes into the Bible very often, and the laity are expected to do the same. =)
Well, I am a Catholic, so I believe in the Holy Trinity as the One and Only God, and I believe that Jesus is my Lord and my Savior. I believe I would be nothing without Him, and I'm doing my best to love Him and serve Him with my life. I also believe in Jesus' teachings, and that we should have faith in Him and obey His commands.
If you wanted a brief summary of Catholic beliefs, you would find it in the Nicene Creed of the Catholic Church.
I believe in One God, im Apostolic, I believe there's three manifestation but One God. i do believe in the Baptism in Jesus name and I do believe the Holy Ghost as the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit Gives utterance. I do believe there's only one doctrine which is the Apostles Doctrine.
I believe the same thing, and although I'm sure you know this, I feel it necessary to state that the doctrine of the Apostles was given to them by God, and it is not simply their made up stories.
So Do You Believe In Three Gods Or One God And Apostolic And Catholic Are Not The Same At All. Catholics Go Against What The Bible Teaches, Catholic Believe That Being Saved Is By Good Works Instead Of Being Obedience To God Words.
I think you don't know what Catholics believe, because if you did you would know that Catholics believe in one God. All Christians believe in one God. And Catholics do not believe that good works alone are sufficient to gain salvation. It seems that you don't know very much about Catholicism, otherwise you would know these answers already. And Catholicism does not contradict the Bible. How could it contradict the book it was given the grace to compile? Logically that wouldn't make any sense.
Yes I Think I Do Know Somethings About The Catholic. I Want To Know Why Doesn't The Pope Have A Wife And Why Doesn't The Nun Have Husband Because I Know That They Forbid To Marry And Abstain From Meat.
im not catholic but your wrong the word apostolic does relate to the catholic, orthodox,and eastern churches. apostolic mean from the apostles as in succesion of bishops from one to the next. catholics dont believe in being saved by good works infact your statemen contradicts itself.."they believe in good works instead of obediance to God words".doesn't God obey us to do his works and be as he was?. catholics and orthodox christians believe in what james said..salvation thru FAITH & Works.
Apostolic does not relate to Catholic, Apostolic comes from the Apostles and Catholic cames from Nicolatianes. If any religion have you forbidding to marry, abstaining from meat it's not like God. Its in the bible.
apostolic relates to the orthodox churches which operate from succesion from bishops stemming from their respective patriarchs. RCC stems from peter. coptic orthodox comes from Mark etc. most orthodox churches have married priests but bishops must be unmarried because they cant give the church proper attention if they have a family to care for. RCC broke from orthodox tradition which still makes it an apostolic church because it stems back all the way to the apostles.
a celibate priest follows the example of the Lord Jesus christ the son of God and his cousin John the baptist who was also believed to be celibate, these men gave up their lives in submission to God TOTALLY. they didnt desire earthly desires such as women or a family instead they craved the kingdom of God.
Matthew 19:12 Jesus says: "Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it."
christ says its okay to make the sacrifice for the kingdom of God. No priest is forced to be celibate they CHOOSE to live a life completely devoted to God as christ himself did. even the apostle paul says so and i'll quote it.
In 1 Corinthians 7:32-33, Paul teaches, "I should like you to be free of anxieties. An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife." And in verse 38, "So then, the one who marries his virgin does well; the one who does not marry her will do better."--paul himself recomends celibacy for ministers of God. thats called apostolic teaching from the pen of an apostle.
it should be noted that ALL of christs disciples left their possesions,homes, and families to follow christ. celibacy is a requirment of latin rite catholics byzantine caths have married priests. the celibacy is seen as a sacrfice to God by following the footsteps of his son who also was celibate and had no wife nor was defiled by sin.
Priests, Nuns, The Pope Himself and whoever else forbids to marry is the doctrine of the devil and it completly saids that in the bible. I go off from what the bible say, if there is anything contrary to the bible then i do not go by it.
The name Catholics came from the nicolatians, if you read your bible and see how the Nicolatians were in the bible and see how if refers to the Catholics.
people who followed the heretic nocholas are not catholics my friend, they are in no way connected, because nicolations are gnostics and the rcc's claim to have been founded on peter and the teaching of christs brother James the just the bishop of jerusalem.
Question: Who is the father of Jesus? Jesus can not be his own father, Jesus called God his father, yet it was the HolyGhost who conceived Jesus. They are all one and the same. There is no evidences as far as tongues, would you say the demon posessed are filled with the Holy Ghost? They can speak with other tongues so do the Charsmatic churches. Jesus said "by their fruits" and it is a life lived in Christ that determines and mostly, accepting the Word of God for the Age we live.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God , The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Amen, that's the Word. What I am saying is that you think God is one like your finger, Jesus said, God is a Spirit. The Spirit of God indwelt in Jesus, he was both Son(flesh) and Father(Spirit) Jesus is not his own Father, that is where the oneness doctrine is incorrect! And tongues as the "initial" evidence, I heard that all my life, until I began seeing that not all that speaks in tongues has the Holy Ghost, which in the Lord Jesus Christ. Brother Paul said, do all speak with tongues?
Hold on, you saying that the oneness doctrine is incorrect, but in my eyes I know that its the truth and the only true doctrine and if you think otherwise then which doctrine do you believe that is the true doctrine. I go by Acts 2:38 John 3:3 John 3:9 2 John 9 Romans 16:17 Well Actually I go by the whole bible. God is the Father he just manifest himself in the flesh and called him Jesus.
@SundayRoseDE You are wrong, my friend. I have a testimony from an ex-catholic priest who was told he "wouldnt need the Bible" when he entered the seminary. Another one says he was made to burn his.
I just think that your comment was offensive and irrelevant to the video. We're not saying you have to believe what we believe, all we ask for is some respect.
Matthew 3:14-16 14. But John fobad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15. And Jesus answering said unto him. Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffereth him. 16. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water; and lo the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him.
When You Get Baptized You Supposed To Get Baptized Under Water, Your Whole Body Is Supposed To Be Submerged Under Water And You Get Baptized In The Name Of Jesus Thats Proper Baptizism
The Candidate does not have to be able to remember the Sacrament for it to be effective! The Candidate is Baptized on the Faith of their parents, and Confirmed when the reach the age of reason.
Acts 2:38 and Jn: 3:3-5 do NOT prove your point! In fact, they refute your heretical position!!!
Just who are you trying to refute? Obviously faith is not a "transferable ticket" thats absurd.
Secondly, It is Obvious that belief is necessary for a valid Baptism of one above the age of reason. Those, above the age of reason, are baptised because of their belief.
Thirdly, you are a heretic who follows the traditions of men. Repent.
@iotaunam1 So why are babies baptized? They are already saved. You say i follow the traditions of men. Can you tell me what traditions of men i follow, please?
You claim that Infants are already saved somehow? Since you hold Sola Scriptura you must back this doctrine of yours up with Scripture. If you can I will accept it as Truth.
The Church teaches that Baptism is necessary for salvation. This is why infants are baptized- especially in danger of death. IF infants were already saved, then it would be better for them to die as infants, rather than live -lest they end up in Hell,
@iotaunam1 Matthew 18:2-3. also jesus says that heaven belongs to children. children do not inherit original sins from their parents. Ezekiel 18:20. Also, God tells us we must REPENT, BELIEVE and THEN be baptized. How can an infant do this?
@iotaunam1 You could of replied thus. "Yes I know that babies have no faith and cannot repent, and are therefor not really valid candidates for baptism (Mark 16:16; Acts 8:36-37; Acts 2:38). But the Pope invented the idea of where the faith and repentance that the infant lacks, is exchanged for the faith and repentance of a "God Parent". Yes I know none of this is in the Bible, but the Pope is the "holy see" and he must know what he is doing!"
@iotaunam1 The Bible doesn't teach that baptism is necessary for our salvation. Once Christ died on the cross for our sins, He did the work on the cross for us. No works are needed. If you want to be baptized, go ahead but it doesn't add anything to Christ's finished work.
Also, the Scripture proves beyond any doubt that both Faith AND works are necessary for salvation. Again, If you want to debate this PM me. No one can articulate an argument fully, or quote much from Scripture by posting dozens of comments.
@iotaunam1 Babies and young children will not go to Hell. Your point comes from Roman Catholic doctrine and is not biblical. God understands that there is an age where young children are not accountable for their actions or limited understanding.....Deuteronomy 1: 39....."Moreover your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it and they shall possess it."
You claimed to be Catholic, and yet you prove beyond any doubt that you were never a Catholic. This is demonstrated by the fact that you think it is Catholic teaching that infants who die without baptism go to Hell!!!
If you want to be serious in refuting and rejecting Catholic teaching, learn what the Church actually teaches.
@iotaunam1 It is technically ok to believe this iotaunam1. As the document of pope Benedicts is not an encyclical. Look at St. Augustines writings and youll find that to be true. I personally, believe babies have to go to purgatory then to heaven.
@MrBronbron - I dont know what "church" you belong to, but the Catholic Church is the One True Church founded by Christ, outside of Which there is no salvation. It is a Catholic Dogma, and teaching of Christ that without baptism, no one can enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Original sin remains. But since an infant does not deserve to be punished with Hell fire, it goes to "that part of hell called Limbo" where it lives in a state of natural happines, though depived of the Beatific vision .
@iotaunam1 iotaunam1 i am also a member of the one holy apostolic catholic church lol. And i am not saying that is false. What i am saying is that is not what every catholic has to believe. ccc paragraph 1261 doesnt mention anything about limbo, but i can obviously see you have done research on the subject and it seems like a very intelligent view.
It is the only view consistantly held traditionally by the Church. If you are a Catholic you must hold the Dogma that no one can enter heaven without Baptism. That is what a dogma is - if you reject one you are not catholic.
Since unbaptized cannot enter Heaven, as Christ said and the Church infallibly declares, the only other options are Hell and Limbo. Given the Justice and mercy of God, Hell is unthinkable, though numerous saints held this vew.
@iotaunam1 it is not a catholic doctrine ioutaunam. though many people believe it. The pope himself along with many theologians said so in a writing of his. Limbo has never fully been accepted by the catholic church. Also, if the saints did hold my view, and went against catholic beliefs, then why did they become saints?
I never said the saints held your view. I said that the vast majority of Catholic doctors and Saints who wrote on the subject believed that unbaptized children would go to limbo. A minority went with the only other option: Hell. There are only Two. Heaven was ruled out by Christ Himself, and the dogmatic decrees of various councils like Trent, which madee it clear that no unbaptised infant could enter heaven, because original sin remains.
@iotaunam1 sorry i did not make it perfectly clear, a baby, in my opinion, must go through purgatory in order to go to heaven. Even though i said this in an earlier statement i just wanted to remind you
Yes, Limbo of Children has not been dogmatically defined -like the Assumtion before 1950. However, the only other option is Hell, and that would go against the Justice of God. Remember Trent infallibly and dogmatically stated that those who die in mortal Sin, or in Original sin ONLY go directly to Hell. Purgatory DOES NOT remit Mortal Sin, or Original Sin, as the Church has always taught.
Where it says what? There are far too many to list. See Council of Trent /Florence canons on Justification/Baptism.
e.g.Denzinger 693 Council of Florence Exultate Deo - Nov 22 1439, Denz 464, Council of Trent Decree on Original Sin Session V, Decree on Justification Session VI, Trent canons on Justification, John XXII Nequa sine dolore - Denz 493a, St Pius V Auctorem Fidei Baptism sec 3 26 Denz 1526. These are only Some examples . St Pius V defended this view against heretics.
@iotaunam1 you have changed my mind on the subject iotaunam1. The reason i held that belief was last year i asked my religion teacher the question. He said he thought so but didnt have any sources availible. i checked pope benedicts writings and say a letter wishing that all babies would be able to go to a better place. Thank you for clearing this up with me, could you friend request me. Deus redono .
Yes, unfortunately Modernism has infiltrated the Church as the Popes had warned would happen. Thus, most claiming to be Catholic today are ignorant of the Faith and think that dogmas can be changed. Fortunately, you are honest enough to accept a teaching of the Church once it is made known to you. Most people cling obstinately to their rejection of Catholic teaching, even when they are shown it, making them heretics unfortunately.
To the second part: yes he is the Pope of Course! What exaclty are you trying to prove. This teaching is De fide, I assume you know what that means. If you think to the contrary show me the dogmatic decrees which contradict the ones I have given. To save you time: you wont find any, because when it comes to infallible pronouncements the Church does not and cannot err. I sugeest you read the cannons on justification as I said before. You seem confused here.
@iotaunam1 well reading what you just posted definitely changed my mind on the subject. I see that many popes and early church fathers believed this. My religion teacher told me he thought it was possible to go to heaven, but i asked him without sources availible, i did some researching and found a letter from benedict xvi saying he hopes all babies would be able to go to a happier place.
You being protestant and rejecting the true Church of Jesus Christ presumably hold the man-made traditions of Sola Fide and Sola Scriptura, invented 1500 years after Christ founded the Church.
The Bible does not teach either man made doctrine- on the contrary it refutes these heretical doctrines. Catholicism is the ONLY Biblical faith.
@iotaunam1 I agree that the Bible does not teach man-made doctrines, but the doctrines of the rcc are man-made, being introduced into it by men over hundreds of years. These traditions, far from being biblical are unbiblical and in most cases, antibiblical.
@kiwichristian2009 I agree 100 percent. The very reason I am no longer a Roman Catholic. I am now a bible believing Christian who has accepted Christ's work on the cross for my sins. God bless you for speaking the truth in Christ's holy name.
@iotaunam1 The true church of Jesus Christ is a relationship, not a membership. It isn’t any particular protestant denomination or Roman catholic. It doesn't have a roof or an address. We are the Body of Christ, past present and future from all around the world who have accepted Christ’s work on the cross for our sins 2000 years ago, once and for all. Our names have been written in the Book of Life from the beginning. 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.
@iotaunam1 Hello friend. The Bible is the authority. Any person who claims to have Christian knowledge or some man made doctrine must prove it against the sure word of God. If it contradicts scripture, then it isn't true. 2 Timothy 3:16....."All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." Besides, everything we need to know for our salvation is contained within the pages of the Bible.
The Scriptures are clear on the issue. Baptism is necessary for salvation.
If anything does contradict the Scriptures then of course its false - no argument there, however it is only your traditions of man and falible interpretation of Scripture which is a odds with Catholic Doctrine
Catholicism is the ONLY Biblical Faith. Since you raise a number of well used arguments, I will dicuss this at length by PM if you want - I dont want to post hundreds of messages again.
Also - not all revealed truths are taught in Scripture. This heretical notion is disproven by Scripture itself. The Bible does not teach Sola Scriptura (nor sola fide) - Luther couldnt prove it when he invented it, nor can any heretic today. If you think otherwise, provide the quotation and I will convert.
Jesus included children when he ordered the disciples, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" (Matt.28:19). The disciples acted accordingly, when they baptized the whole "household", including the children (Act.16:15,33, 18:8, 1Cor.1:16).
Baptism is the greatest gift the parents can give to their children, and the most biblical time to do it is 8 days after birth, because "circumcision" was done 8 days after birth, and it was replaced by Christian Baptism (Luk.2:21, Col.2:11). If your church can not baptize children, it is a church without power, it is not the Church of Christ, where there is power to baptize children the most beloved persons to Jesus!
Let us guess...your parents raised you with no religion at all whatsoever and allowed you to grow up then decide for yourself? Is that why you are so miserable and angry at those who are at peace with the Lord? May He bless and keep you.
Peace of mind that He is in control, not man. God doesn't create wars. Man does. We cannot count on man because no matter how noble or good someone is, they will always let you down at one time or another. The only one who will never let us down is God. I would be as angry and bitter as you without my faith. I pray that you follow His path and find your way to that place which brings you hope. Mother Earth worship and man are not the answer. God loves you; no lie.
operato, which literally means from the work performed,expresses the essentially objective mode of operation of grace imparted in the seven sacraments,
by Gods Spirit, (of which baptism is the first) and its independence of the subjective attitude of either the
minister or the recipient. Thus, even though infants are too young to understand and accept baptism, they can
nevertheless be baptized. The GRACE comes from the Holy Spirit itself.
I go strictly by what the Bible says. Everything that needs to be known is in there. I know you say you all follow it too, but if you read the Bible with no traditions you grew up with, no biased opinnion, you'll realize that scripture and the Catholic church doesn't match. I'm not here to argue though. Best of luck.
John 21:25 - But there are also many other things which Jesus did; which, if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written.
1 Timothy 3:15 - But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
2 Thessalonians 2:14 - Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle.
Im Catholic and I go by what the Bible says also. The Bible says there are two ways of knowing truth - Epistle (Sacred Scripture) and by word of mouth (Sacred Tradition).
@purpleandgoldfever Exodus20:4-5. "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth." Vs5 "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God." Isaiah 42:8 "I [am] the LORD: that [is] my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images."
Tell me, AmericanidiotTN4, why we have so many protestant churches? Each one says "sola scriptura"... And everyone belives in diffrent way.. We can not read bible without Magisterium of One, Holy, Aposolic and Common Church. There is only one true relligion- Catholic relligion.
In Acts 2:38-39, at the end of his speech in Pentecost, Peter said what they had to do to be saved. "Repent and be Baptised EVERYONE OF YOU, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you shall receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit." Note that Peter said EVERYONE, not just adults.
You are taking one verse from the bible out of context . The text from Acts was just one of the examples given to prove that during the early christian years, baptism of infants were practised because it was a form of outward symbolic purification of sins. The baby has not commited any personal sin. what baptism purifies is the original sin committed by Adam and Eve passed on to generations.
That particular verse was an example that sacraments were practised on infants and children. After all, baptism like any sacrament is an outward sign of inward grace given by the Holy Spirit. It replaced the purification rite from the Jewish circumcision. Even Jesus Himself was circumcised as an infant, because he was a part of the Church. Baptism replaced circumcision as a purification rite from ORIGINAL SIN.
so using your argument Can a baby repent ? Why did Jesus Christ get circumcised. I'm sure he was circumcised because if he was not, then they would not have considered him to be a Jew. Then he would not have had any access to the temple, or preached at the temple.. The reason was because that purification rite known as circumcision at the time that he was born was A SYMBOLIC RITE for him to be a part of the church..
@jambapanda Infant baptism is not a Biblical practice. An infant cannot place his or her faith in Christ. An infant cannot make a conscious decision to obey Christ. An infant cannot understand what water baptism symbolizes. The Bible does not record any infants being baptized. Infant baptism is the origin of the sprinkling and pouring methods of baptism - as it is unwise and unsafe to immerse an infant under water
If the Jews circumcised their children at 8 days of age, it only made sense that the Apostles and early Christians, as referred to in Acts 2:38-39, baptized their children as the symbolic rite that imparts spiritual GRACE. Baptism was their replacement to circumcision. GRACE is a gift from Gpd that allows us to participate in the Divine life. It is something that makes us HOLY. But there is a difference between ACTUAL GRACE and SANCTIFYING GRACE.
@kiwichristian2009 Actual Grace is that help from God which enlightens our reason and moves our will to do good and to avoid evilActual Grace comes to us through various channels: the Sacraments, Prayer, Sermons, Good Works, Sickness, and the Good Example of Others. Sanctifying Grace is the GRACE that is permanent and lives in our souls,Without Sanctifying Grace, we cannot merit anything for Heaven.
@kiwichristian2009Without Sanctifying Grace, we cannot merit anything for Heaven.
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4).Good Works done in the state of Sanctifying Grace are necessary for salvation. “Faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself.” (James 2:26).
“Every tree therefore that doth not yield good fruit, shall be cut down, and cast into the fire.”
@AmericanIdiotTN4 Amen! Acts4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” “Through some crack or other in the temple of God, the smoke of Satan has entered .” — Pope Paul VI, 1972
I'm telling you, a lot of people are Catholic because thats what they grew up as, or their parents are/were Catholic. That isn't enough though. I don't know if that is the case with you, but you can't chose your faith based on what your parents or who ever go by. You owe it to yourself to do the research and figure out what the truth is. And its not about being laboled a "Catholic" that I care about, its just the stuff they believe. But God bless dude. Wish the best for you.
I was alas not brought up in a religious household, and would not adhere to the Catholic faith unless I found it to be coherent. That I have done the research is, I believe, reflected in my manifold Scripture citations.
We are ALL called to be saints. A saint is one who is in heaven. The saints of the church are simply those that stood out as a special Christian figure. Of course Jesus' death was enough to wipe away our sins, he opened the Gates of Heaven. We are not just pardoned, however, we must carry out our faith in order to be saved. The Bible speaks of purgatory, most of us go to purgatory. It is simply a place of cleansing before entering heaven.
Remember, that you believe in the Holy Trinity because of the Christian Church -- the Catholic Church. We also confess to a priest for counseling and as a physical figure of Christ. Jesus taught us to confess our sins to one another in order to be in communion. And yes, we believe the Pope sins and he also confesses to a priest. We believe that there have been wrongs in the Church but some people took it too far and began their own religion. Anyways, just wanted to address those misconceptions.
Yeah I knew that was coming. The churches broke away because the Catholics were doing things that were corrupt. Praying to saints, prayig to Mary, confessing sins to a priest etc. Jesus wasn't the founder of a church that doesn't believe his death was enough to wipe away our sins, and who thinks people have to go to pergatory. The truth is, I'm not part of a "denomination" or "catholic", I follow Jesus and worship him and the father and the holy spirit.
Being baptized, you're initiated into the family of the Church. Original sin has been forgiven. The parents and Godparents promise to raise you Catholic and on your own you must be confirmed. Second, the people of the Church commit wrongs but we believe the Holy Spirit guides the morals and teachings of the Church as it does the seat of Peter. Third, we ask for intercession from the saints as Jesus taught us. The Virgin Mary is our highest saint since she was the Mother of God.
And if babies are sprinkled with water because they can't submerge into water, then they probably aren't supposed to be baptized! You are baptized when you make a decission to follow Christ, impossible for an infant to do.
I don't have an interpretation. Its pretty plain. The Catholic Church does a lot of unbiblical things. Of course you're just going to argue and argue because honestly, thats how a lot of Catholics are- no offence! The thought of pergatory too. If you have to go to pergatury to wipe off your sins, then that means they weren't truly forgiven. This is blasphemous.Jesus said "Today you will be with me in paradise" not "After pergatory, you can be with me."
Of course you have an interpretation of the Scriptures, given that you understand them in a certain way, which disagrees with the manner wherein it is read by others. In fact, it disagrees with the opinion of many, many others. Your interpretation of the Bible is one among thousands.
So I have to ask: whence do you have authority to interpret the Bible as you do, since it is certainly a text which requires interpretation (Acts viii, 31), and it does not admit private interpretation (II Peter i, 20)? Do you believe that you are right as a "holy man of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit" (ibid., 21), and if so, why?
Our Lord clearly intended His Church to be an external visible commonwealth (Matthew xviii, 17), authoritative "pillar and ground of the truth" (I Timothy iii, 15), with bishops (I T. iii; Titus I), priests (Acts xiv, 22; Titus i, 5) and deacons (Acts vi), having received apostolic authority through the imposition of hands (Acts vi, 6; I Timothy iv, 14; II Timothy i, 6).
Do you belong to the Church of Jesus Christ and of His Apostles?

Once Christ died on the cross we entered the dispensation of grace.
johnthreesixteen316 1 year ago
@johnthreesixteen316

Good Works are necessary for salvation. “Faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself.” (James 2:26).
“Every tree therefore that doth not yield good fruit, shall be cut down, and cast into the fire.”
(Matt 3:10).

we now have a modern day prophet, Thomas S Monson from The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints, we now have the priesthood which is the authority to act upon the lords name here in earth and can be traced back to him, we have again twelve apostles and The Book of Mormon another testament of Jesus Christ which is the history of the ancient inhavitants of the Americas written by men called upon by god like Moses or Peter in the Bible which talks about the works of Jesus in the Midde East.

I was baptised as a baby by my family @ an apartment. I'd like to know since Im 26 now I'd like to give my life fully to the lord, can I get baptised again to repent from all my past continual sins, or go to confession? ty for your time
RalphGalloza 2 years ago
@RalphGalloza you can only be baptized once...so if you were baptized as a baby,you cannot be baptized again as an adult. are you thinking of changing religions and joining the roman catholic church? that is what i am doing now,and if this is the case for yourself,start going to the RCIA classes,and you can get confirmation and become a Catholic...blessings...
kylabotting 2 years ago
No if you want to be baptize more than once you can, but you have to be baptized in the name of Jesus, its in the bible and i do have scriptures to back me up, not what man say but what God say.
ApostolicDoctrine09 1 year ago
Yes you need to be baptized again in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. You have to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ because there is no power in any other name, many people, and other cultures don't allow or want to her about Jesus because there's power in that name. Get baptized in the name of Jesus.
ApostolicDoctrine09 1 year ago
@RalphGalloza Well, the Word of God says you must believe first, THEN be baptized, so your infant baptism is unbiblical. Confession will not help you, you must confess to God. If you want to give your life fully to the Lord, leave the catholic church and pick up a KJV bible and simply start reading and praying.

Catholic Is So Fake They Just Going Against The Bible Thats False Doctrine
ApostolicDoctrine09 2 years ago
Why do you say that?
SundayRoseDE 2 years ago
1 Timothy 4:1-3 1. Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. 2. Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with hot iron; 3. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
The Catholic Church forbids its priest to get married to abstain from meats on friday.
ApostolicDoctrine09 2 years ago
Have you read 1 Corinthians 7? Or Matthew 19:12? or 1 Corinthians 9:27? These are all important verses. Concerning Timothy, you're missing something. The reason Paul wrote this is because there were heretics who were claiming that marriage and sex were inherently evil, which we know is certainly not the case. And the same is the case with eating meat (you know it was a huge culture thing).
Catholic priests KNOW that they are giving up certain things, but they don't mind. They're happy to do so.

I'm Guessing That Your Catholic And Does Your Pastor Really Go In The Bible?
ApostolicDoctrine09 2 years ago
Well, any priest HAS to study the Bible when he is in the seminary, and when we go to Mass every Sunday we read three Bible passages. Also, all priests, monks, and nuns have to do Liturgy of the Hours 5 times a day, and each prayer is filled with Scripture. The Canticles of Zechariah and Mary are the first prayers that come to my mind, which are direct Bible passages that are common Catholic prayers. So yes, my pastor goes into the Bible very often, and the laity are expected to do the same. =)

So What Is Your Belief, What Do You Believe In?
ApostolicDoctrine09 2 years ago
Well, I am a Catholic, so I believe in the Holy Trinity as the One and Only God, and I believe that Jesus is my Lord and my Savior. I believe I would be nothing without Him, and I'm doing my best to love Him and serve Him with my life. I also believe in Jesus' teachings, and that we should have faith in Him and obey His commands.
If you wanted a brief summary of Catholic beliefs, you would find it in the Nicene Creed of the Catholic Church.
SundayRoseDE 2 years ago
I believe in One God, im Apostolic, I believe there's three manifestation but One God. i do believe in the Baptism in Jesus name and I do believe the Holy Ghost as the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit Gives utterance. I do believe there's only one doctrine which is the Apostles Doctrine.
ApostolicDoctrine09 2 years ago
I believe the same thing, and although I'm sure you know this, I feel it necessary to state that the doctrine of the Apostles was given to them by God, and it is not simply their made up stories.
Well, at least we agree on something!
SundayRoseDE 2 years ago
So Do You Believe In Three Gods Or One God And Apostolic And Catholic Are Not The Same At All. Catholics Go Against What The Bible Teaches, Catholic Believe That Being Saved Is By Good Works Instead Of Being Obedience To God Words.
ApostolicDoctrine09 2 years ago
I think you don't know what Catholics believe, because if you did you would know that Catholics believe in one God. All Christians believe in one God. And Catholics do not believe that good works alone are sufficient to gain salvation. It seems that you don't know very much about Catholicism, otherwise you would know these answers already. And Catholicism does not contradict the Bible. How could it contradict the book it was given the grace to compile? Logically that wouldn't make any sense.
SundayRoseDE 2 years ago
Yes I Think I Do Know Somethings About The Catholic. I Want To Know Why Doesn't The Pope Have A Wife And Why Doesn't The Nun Have Husband Because I Know That They Forbid To Marry And Abstain From Meat.
ApostolicDoctrine09 2 years ago
im not catholic but your wrong the word apostolic does relate to the catholic, orthodox,and eastern churches. apostolic mean from the apostles as in succesion of bishops from one to the next. catholics dont believe in being saved by good works infact your statemen contradicts itself.."they believe in good works instead of obediance to God words".doesn't God obey us to do his works and be as he was?. catholics and orthodox christians believe in what james said..salvation thru FAITH & Works.
tksmurf 1 year ago
Apostolic does not relate to Catholic, Apostolic comes from the Apostles and Catholic cames from Nicolatianes. If any religion have you forbidding to marry, abstaining from meat it's not like God. Its in the bible.
ApostolicDoctrine09 1 year ago
apostolic relates to the orthodox churches which operate from succesion from bishops stemming from their respective patriarchs. RCC stems from peter. coptic orthodox comes from Mark etc. most orthodox churches have married priests but bishops must be unmarried because they cant give the church proper attention if they have a family to care for. RCC broke from orthodox tradition which still makes it an apostolic church because it stems back all the way to the apostles.
tksmurf 1 year ago
In 1 Timothy 3:1-2 1- This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work
2- A bishop must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach.
ApostolicDoctrine09 1 year ago
a celibate priest follows the example of the Lord Jesus christ the son of God and his cousin John the baptist who was also believed to be celibate, these men gave up their lives in submission to God TOTALLY. they didnt desire earthly desires such as women or a family instead they craved the kingdom of God.
tksmurf 1 year ago
1 Timothy 3:4-5
4- One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5- (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
ApostolicDoctrine09 1 year ago
Matthew 19:12 Jesus says: "Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it."
christ says its okay to make the sacrifice for the kingdom of God. No priest is forced to be celibate they CHOOSE to live a life completely devoted to God as christ himself did. even the apostle paul says so and i'll quote it.
tksmurf 1 year ago
In 1 Corinthians 7:32-33, Paul teaches, "I should like you to be free of anxieties. An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife." And in verse 38, "So then, the one who marries his virgin does well; the one who does not marry her will do better."--paul himself recomends celibacy for ministers of God. thats called apostolic teaching from the pen of an apostle.
tksmurf 1 year ago
it should be noted that ALL of christs disciples left their possesions,homes, and families to follow christ. celibacy is a requirment of latin rite catholics byzantine caths have married priests. the celibacy is seen as a sacrfice to God by following the footsteps of his son who also was celibate and had no wife nor was defiled by sin.
tksmurf 1 year ago
Priests, Nuns, The Pope Himself and whoever else forbids to marry is the doctrine of the devil and it completly saids that in the bible. I go off from what the bible say, if there is anything contrary to the bible then i do not go by it.

12hourshiftworker 2 years ago
Hold on, you saying that the oneness doctrine is incorrect, but in my eyes I know that its the truth and the only true doctrine and if you think otherwise then which doctrine do you believe that is the true doctrine. I go by Acts 2:38 John 3:3 John 3:9 2 John 9 Romans 16:17 Well Actually I go by the whole bible. God is the Father he just manifest himself in the flesh and called him Jesus.

kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009
Repent.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 So why are babies baptized? They are already saved. You say i follow the traditions of men. Can you tell me what traditions of men i follow, please?
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009 -
You claim that Infants are already saved somehow? Since you hold Sola Scriptura you must back this doctrine of yours up with Scripture. If you can I will accept it as Truth.
The Church teaches that Baptism is necessary for salvation. This is why infants are baptized- especially in danger of death. IF infants were already saved, then it would be better for them to die as infants, rather than live -lest they end up in Hell,
I will await your Scriptural proof.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 Matthew 18:2-3. also jesus says that heaven belongs to children. children do not inherit original sins from their parents. Ezekiel 18:20. Also, God tells us we must REPENT, BELIEVE and THEN be baptized. How can an infant do this?
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 You could of replied thus. "Yes I know that babies have no faith and cannot repent, and are therefor not really valid candidates for baptism (Mark 16:16; Acts 8:36-37; Acts 2:38). But the Pope invented the idea of where the faith and repentance that the infant lacks, is exchanged for the faith and repentance of a "God Parent". Yes I know none of this is in the Bible, but the Pope is the "holy see" and he must know what he is doing!"
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 The Bible doesn't teach that baptism is necessary for our salvation. Once Christ died on the cross for our sins, He did the work on the cross for us. No works are needed. If you want to be baptized, go ahead but it doesn't add anything to Christ's finished work.
johnthreesixteen316 1 year ago
@johnthreesixteen316
Also, the Scripture proves beyond any doubt that both Faith AND works are necessary for salvation. Again, If you want to debate this PM me. No one can articulate an argument fully, or quote much from Scripture by posting dozens of comments.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 Babies and young children will not go to Hell. Your point comes from Roman Catholic doctrine and is not biblical. God understands that there is an age where young children are not accountable for their actions or limited understanding.....Deuteronomy 1: 39....."Moreover your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it and they shall possess it."
johnthreesixteen316 1 year ago
@johnthreesixteen316

MrBronbron 1 year ago
@MrBronbron - I dont know what "church" you belong to, but the Catholic Church is the One True Church founded by Christ, outside of Which there is no salvation. It is a Catholic Dogma, and teaching of Christ that without baptism, no one can enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Original sin remains. But since an infant does not deserve to be punished with Hell fire, it goes to "that part of hell called Limbo" where it lives in a state of natural happines, though depived of the Beatific vision .
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 iotaunam1 i am also a member of the one holy apostolic catholic church lol. And i am not saying that is false. What i am saying is that is not what every catholic has to believe. ccc paragraph 1261 doesnt mention anything about limbo, but i can obviously see you have done research on the subject and it seems like a very intelligent view.
MrBronbron 1 year ago
@MrBronbron
Given the Justice and mercy of God, Hell is unthinkable, though numerous saints held this vew.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 it is not a catholic doctrine ioutaunam. though many people believe it. The pope himself along with many theologians said so in a writing of his. Limbo has never fully been accepted by the catholic church. Also, if the saints did hold my view, and went against catholic beliefs, then why did they become saints?
MrBronbron 1 year ago
@MrBronbron
I never said the saints held your view. I said that the vast majority of Catholic doctors and Saints who wrote on the subject believed that unbaptized children would go to limbo. A minority went with the only other option: Hell. There are only Two. Heaven was ruled out by Christ Himself, and the dogmatic decrees of various councils like Trent, which madee it clear that no unbaptised infant could enter heaven, because original sin remains.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 sorry i did not make it perfectly clear, a baby, in my opinion, must go through purgatory in order to go to heaven. Even though i said this in an earlier statement i just wanted to remind you
MrBronbron 1 year ago
@MrBronbron
Purgatory DOES NOT remit Mortal Sin, or Original Sin, as the Church has always taught.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 point out directly where it says that. also do you accept pope benedict the sixteenth as pope.
MrBronbron 1 year ago
@MrBronbron
St Pius V defended this view against heretics.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 you have changed my mind on the subject iotaunam1. The reason i held that belief was last year i asked my religion teacher the question. He said he thought so but didnt have any sources availible. i checked pope benedicts writings and say a letter wishing that all babies would be able to go to a better place. Thank you for clearing this up with me, could you friend request me. Deus redono .
MrBronbron 1 year ago
@MrBronbron
Most people cling obstinately to their rejection of Catholic teaching, even when they are shown it, making them heretics unfortunately.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@MrBronbron
You seem confused here.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 well reading what you just posted definitely changed my mind on the subject. I see that many popes and early church fathers believed this. My religion teacher told me he thought it was possible to go to heaven, but i asked him without sources availible, i did some researching and found a letter from benedict xvi saying he hopes all babies would be able to go to a happier place.

@kiwichristian2009 -
You being protestant and rejecting the true Church of Jesus Christ presumably hold the man-made traditions of Sola Fide and Sola Scriptura, invented 1500 years after Christ founded the Church.
The Bible does not teach either man made doctrine- on the contrary it refutes these heretical doctrines. Catholicism is the ONLY Biblical faith.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 Define "protestant" please, my friend.
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009
Same applies here, If you want to discuss in detail PM me.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 I agree that the Bible does not teach man-made doctrines, but the doctrines of the rcc are man-made, being introduced into it by men over hundreds of years. These traditions, far from being biblical are unbiblical and in most cases, antibiblical.
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009 I agree 100 percent. The very reason I am no longer a Roman Catholic. I am now a bible believing Christian who has accepted Christ's work on the cross for my sins. God bless you for speaking the truth in Christ's holy name.
johnthreesixteen316 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 The true church of Jesus Christ is a relationship, not a membership. It isn’t any particular protestant denomination or Roman catholic. It doesn't have a roof or an address. We are the Body of Christ, past present and future from all around the world who have accepted Christ’s work on the cross for our sins 2000 years ago, once and for all. Our names have been written in the Book of Life from the beginning. 1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.
johnthreesixteen316 1 year ago
@iotaunam1 Hello friend. The Bible is the authority. Any person who claims to have Christian knowledge or some man made doctrine must prove it against the sure word of God. If it contradicts scripture, then it isn't true. 2 Timothy 3:16....."All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." Besides, everything we need to know for our salvation is contained within the pages of the Bible.
johnthreesixteen316 1 year ago
@johnthreesixteen316
Since you raise a number of well used arguments, I will dicuss this at length by PM if you want - I dont want to post hundreds of messages again.
iotaunam1 1 year ago
@johnthreesixteen316

VanessaFiona 2 years ago
Baptism is the greatest gift the parents can give to their children, and the most biblical time to do it is 8 days after birth, because "circumcision" was done 8 days after birth, and it was replaced by Christian Baptism (Luk.2:21, Col.2:11). If your church can not baptize children, it is a church without power, it is not the Church of Christ, where there is power to baptize children the most beloved persons to Jesus!

So when Peter said that, if there were infants in the crowd, did he expect them to understand him? Seriously, come on.
AmericanIdiotTN4 2 years ago
In Catholic belief, the Latin term ex opere
operato, which literally means from the work performed,expresses the essentially objective mode of operation of grace imparted in the seven sacraments,
by Gods Spirit, (of which baptism is the first) and its independence of the subjective attitude of either the
minister or the recipient.

@jambapanda Can a baby repent?
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009
You are taking one verse from the bible out of context . The text from Acts was just one of the examples given to prove that during the early christian years, baptism of infants were practised because it was a form of outward symbolic purification of sins. The baby has not commited any personal sin. what baptism purifies is the original sin committed by Adam and Eve passed on to generations.
jambapanda 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009
Baptism replaced circumcision as a purification rite from ORIGINAL SIN.
jambapanda 1 year ago
@jambapanda Rubbish. I shows nothing of the sort. It shows that one must repent and then be baptised.
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009
so using your argument Can a baby repent ? Why did Jesus Christ get circumcised. I'm sure he was circumcised because if he was not, then they would not have considered him to be a Jew. Then he would not have had any access to the temple, or preached at the temple.. The reason was because that purification rite known as circumcision at the time that he was born was A SYMBOLIC RITE for him to be a part of the church..
jambapanda 1 year ago
@jambapanda Rather than diverting the question, can you please answer the simple question, "Can a baby repent" ?
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@jambapanda Infant baptism is not a Biblical practice. An infant cannot place his or her faith in Christ. An infant cannot make a conscious decision to obey Christ. An infant cannot understand what water baptism symbolizes. The Bible does not record any infants being baptized. Infant baptism is the origin of the sprinkling and pouring methods of baptism - as it is unwise and unsafe to immerse an infant under water
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009
But there is a difference between ACTUAL GRACE and SANCTIFYING GRACE.
jambapanda 1 year ago
@jambapanda " that imparts spiritual" So, grace is a result of works?
kiwichristian2009 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009 Actual Grace is that help from God which enlightens our reason and moves our will to do good and to avoid evilActual Grace comes to us through various channels: the Sacraments, Prayer, Sermons, Good Works, Sickness, and the Good Example of Others. Sanctifying Grace is the GRACE that is permanent and lives in our souls,Without Sanctifying Grace, we cannot merit anything for Heaven.
jambapanda 1 year ago
@kiwichristian2009Without Sanctifying Grace, we cannot merit anything for Heaven.
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4).Good Works done in the state of Sanctifying Grace are necessary for salvation. “Faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself.” (James 2:26).
“Every tree therefore that doth not yield good fruit, shall be cut down, and cast into the fire.”
(Matt 3:10).

AmericanIdiotTN4 3 years ago
I was alas not brought up in a religious household, and would not adhere to the Catholic faith unless I found it to be coherent. That I have done the research is, I believe, reflected in my manifold Scripture citations.

GrumpyOldTroll 3 years ago
We are ALL called to be saints. A saint is one who is in heaven. The saints of the church are simply those that stood out as a special Christian figure. Of course Jesus' death was enough to wipe away our sins, he opened the Gates of Heaven. We are not just pardoned, however, we must carry out our faith in order to be saved. The Bible speaks of purgatory, most of us go to purgatory. It is simply a place of cleansing before entering heaven.
Love2Sing2009 2 years ago
Remember, that you believe in the Holy Trinity because of the Christian Church -- the Catholic Church. We also confess to a priest for counseling and as a physical figure of Christ. Jesus taught us to confess our sins to one another in order to be in communion. And yes, we believe the Pope sins and he also confesses to a priest. We believe that there have been wrongs in the Church but some people took it too far and began their own religion. Anyways, just wanted to address those misconceptions.
Love2Sing2009 2 years ago
Yeah I knew that was coming. The churches broke away because the Catholics were doing things that were corrupt. Praying to saints, prayig to Mary, confessing sins to a priest etc. Jesus wasn't the founder of a church that doesn't believe his death was enough to wipe away our sins, and who thinks people have to go to pergatory. The truth is, I'm not part of a "denomination" or "catholic", I follow Jesus and worship him and the father and the holy spirit.
AmericanIdiotTN4 3 years ago
When did the Churches break away?
GrumpyOldTroll 3 years ago
Being baptized, you're initiated into the family of the Church. Original sin has been forgiven. The parents and Godparents promise to raise you Catholic and on your own you must be confirmed. Second, the people of the Church commit wrongs but we believe the Holy Spirit guides the morals and teachings of the Church as it does the seat of Peter. Third, we ask for intercession from the saints as Jesus taught us. The Virgin Mary is our highest saint since she was the Mother of God.
Love2Sing2009 2 years ago
And if babies are sprinkled with water because they can't submerge into water, then they probably aren't supposed to be baptized! You are baptized when you make a decission to follow Christ, impossible for an infant to do.
AmericanIdiotTN4 3 years ago
I don't have an interpretation. Its pretty plain. The Catholic Church does a lot of unbiblical things. Of course you're just going to argue and argue because honestly, thats how a lot of Catholics are- no offence! The thought of pergatory too. If you have to go to pergatury to wipe off your sins, then that means they weren't truly forgiven. This is blasphemous.Jesus said "Today you will be with me in paradise" not "After pergatory, you can be with me."
AmericanIdiotTN4 3 years ago
Of course you have an interpretation of the Scriptures, given that you understand them in a certain way, which disagrees with the manner wherein it is read by others. In fact, it disagrees with the opinion of many, many others. Your interpretation of the Bible is one among thousands.
GrumpyOldTroll 3 years ago
So I have to ask: whence do you have authority to interpret the Bible as you do, since it is certainly a text which requires interpretation (Acts viii, 31), and it does not admit private interpretation (II Peter i, 20)? Do you believe that you are right as a "holy man of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit" (ibid., 21), and if so, why?
GrumpyOldTroll 3 years ago
Our Lord clearly intended His Church to be an external visible commonwealth (Matthew xviii, 17), authoritative "pillar and ground of the truth" (I Timothy iii, 15), with bishops (I T. iii; Titus I), priests (Acts xiv, 22; Titus i, 5) and deacons (Acts vi), having received apostolic authority through the imposition of hands (Acts vi, 6; I Timothy iv, 14; II Timothy i, 6).
Do you belong to the Church of Jesus Christ and of His Apostles?
