I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan. I have read every story that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote. And let me just say that this movie is a HUGE disappointment. It could have been an amazing movie if they changed it a bit and didn't decide to make it "Sherlock Holmes." But, no, they had to take the most amazing fictional character ever and tarnish the name "Sherlock."

An American should never play an English part so only an English one could play. If you've never watched this film and you like action packed films I so recommend this ^^

What the hell? I don't remember that scene with Irene trying to stab Holmes and kicking him in the shines and that shot of them in the same room kissing? They changed that to Holmes drinking a wine bottle...WHY? That scene looked cool and Irene looked HOT.
@hajitwoface, like you, i wanna know why that scene was cut from the film, along with part of a scene where Irene is waiting on the boat with Watson and she says "They've been flirting like this for hours." the least Warner Bros. could have done was include these scenes on the DVD as deleted scenes with director/writer commentary as to why they were excised from the film.

Sherlock Holmes (2009) certainly is Robert Downey Jr. best movie, but that doesn't necessarily make it a good movie. When I first saw the trailer I was really dissapointed cuz I thought the movie is one of those blockbuster rubbish that come out every day. Considering the fact Im a huge fan of Conan Doyle's books, I was sure this movie was sheer blasphemy! But then I went to see it and I was blown away! it is fantastic! well the Movie seems interesting. I am going to watch it. whether or not the actor/movie portrays the Sherlock homes series. this will give the series a new life, resurrection you can say. Imagine Video Games and stuff.
I enjoy Sherlock Holmes. I enjoy many who had portrayed him and the story line. On PBS, there was a young man who had portrayed him. I think, we've got already a perfect adaptation, Jeremy Brett as Holmes. So why can't we wait for a cool Guy Ritchie flick, interpretig the Holmes-story as a stlyish, intellectual action-adventure? I'm a fan of the classic stories, but I definitely want to see this as well.

Agreed. Its lacking in the classic feel of Sherlock in many ways... I do hope it turns out well though. If it goes well, that leads to possibilities of having a Lupin crossover (which I know many Sherlock fans may disagree with). Nothing like a matchup between the world's greatest detective and the world's greatest thief! :)

I enjoy Sherlock Holmes. I enjoy many who had portrayed him and the story line. On PBS, there was a young man who had portrayed him. I would like the format and actors there.I simply do not like how Holmes is portrayed in the trailors as more despotic then driven and obsessive compulsive Sherlock Holmes-whose only exits for him was his 7% solution or his violin. I don't see a release date for this, and certainly hoppe there is more/better stuff than what I saw-else I'll demand my money back!

This movie got leaked.. watched it a couple days ago.. for those of you that are interested on were i saw it at here's the link: "nowonhd*com" (replace the * with a .) the movie was pretty good i liked it alot.. quality was also great..thrs an age verification thing for rated R movies but you can just lie :)

I thought after saying the
"I have a request. There's someone I want to see." Then the trailer does it where it skips the audio clip where the same character says "Sherlock Holmes" But he says it so short I thought he said.
"I have somebody I want to see -- Sharukh Khan." I was like "Bollywood film?!" lolo

I think, we've got already a perfect adaptation, Jeremy Brett as Holmes. So why can't we wait for a cool Guy Ritchie flick, interpretig the Holmes-story as a stlyish, intellectual action-adventure? I'm a fan of the classic stories, but I definitely want to see this as well.

despite this being a over the top, over exaggerated and horribly far from the idea movie about sherlock holmes, i think that most of us will realize they weren't going for replication.
i think this will be a good movie, no matter what David and Margaret will say

I agree, this Sherlock in the movie is a bit overrated. As much as I love reading Doyle's stories about him, I'm still getting mixed feelings about this movie

Agreed. Its lacking in the classic feel of Sherlock in many ways... I do hope it turns out well though. If it goes well, that leads to possibilities of having a Lupin crossover (which I know many Sherlock fans may disagree with). Nothing like a matchup between the world's greatest detective and the world's greatest thief! :)

I'm a big Sherlock Holmes fan and even though this looks nothing like the books, I'll still check it out.
I was hoping they were going to make "A Study In Scarlet" with maybe a lesser known actor as S H .
In the books Sherlock is a trained boxer, but not like this.
I wonder if their going to show his drug habit or leave it out completely.
