Here in the US south of Los Angeles in a predominately Vietnamese area cats go missing frequently because they eat them, its a fact, not conjecture. Im amazed at some of the comments. There are perfectures in Japan that have been eating dogs for decades. Here in the US south of Los Angeles in a predominately Vietnamese area cats go missing frequently because they eat them, its a fact, not conjecture. I don't see the USA or any other western country having more remorse for animals than China. There's no difference between eating beef, cat or even dolphin in my book. Killing animals is killing animals, and it's not like cats are an endangered species.

I think your missing the point. The Chinese believe that the more pain & fear the animal is in when it dies the better the meat. Animals are boiled alive or beaten just before death. Lots of times the videos from the Chinese animals in cages still have collars & there r many accounts of pets being stolen from homes. The Chinese have 0 respect for life of animal or human. At least the US has regulations. I wish ALF would get full range of every country.

There's nothing wrong with being an atheist, religion is a money grabbing whore that won't die.
As far as what you said about being unmercifully killed, the Chinese are so fucking ignorant they actually believe the more the animal suffers, the better it will taste.
Also, anyone saying they're preserving their culture is fucking retarded. Just because your ancestors brutally killed animals, boiling, beating or skinning them alive doesn't mean it's an admirable tradition that should be continued.

As a Chinese myself, that's not even a culture. In fact, there have been protests all over the PRC against eating them. Many Chinese stormed a cat meat restaurant in Shenzhen and closed it successfully.
By the way, China is 50% NON-RELIGIOUS. 15-20% or so is atheist. No they're not synonyms.

It used to be, until the 1980s. It still didn't change the real fact that the majority were religious, like how Poland was owned by USSR and didn't lose religion. You were allowed to have any religion, but you weren't allow to do it publicly until recently.

@sega31098 I went hunting with my American friend, a real American, white boy. He shoot two ducks. They were still alive and he throw him at the back of his pick up truck. When we got home the ducks were still alive as he pluck the feathers, then dip them with boiling water and that's how the ducks died. Isn't that animal cruelty? I should have made a video and post it here in Youtube "American cruelty. But I guess that's none of my business. I come from a civilized country and I respect others.

Also during our side trip to Florida we purchase live crabs and tossed it to boiling water and that's how the crabs died. Well maybe crabs don't feel pain unlike dogs, Americans know better so we just have to accept that.

@sega31098 Of course intentional acts of cruelty are not acceptable. But it applies to all animals as well. Chickens are also caged like this in Asian, US and Western countries. The way of handling animals can improve as newer tools and methods are invented.
But the Choice of which animals to eat is a matter of right and it has been part of the Chinese culture, the Indon Malayan Majapahit Culture and still existing today and must be respected. Dogs aren't higher than cows, they can be food too
