Since 1973 there have been about 700,000 homicides in the U.S. unless you include women who off the unborn, then it's 50,700,000 (give or take a few). Over half of abortions today are repeaters (not the woman's first). Convenience abortions, most of them. Maybe her life would have been disrupted, and we can't have that. Waste the kid.
Well said and may it have an impact on "the naive and selfish" to have a change of heart to consider the innocent and unborn child. May the Holy God and Creator continue to bless you and yours Congressman Franks. If only there were a multitude more like you in Congress.
Due to the garbled syntax, I can't actually tell whether drharris2020 is pro-life or pro-choice. But anybody with a brain, and certainly any doctor, ought to know that EVERY law contains a moral element. EVERY law maintains that one thing or action is to be preferred over another, and/or that something is to be prescribed or prohibited. Even the statement "you shouldn't legislate morality" fails on its own grounds. "You shouldn't legislate morality" is a statement that MAKES A MORAL ASSERTION.
Due to the supreme court's failure to decide, we are left to conclude that the moment of separation the fetus is now a citizen with a name and certificate to prove it in a court of law.But at what exact point does a right to your own body part come under the protection of the constitution ? Our rights begin at the declared official time listed on a birth certificate.
respectfully Dr. Harris, some laws do enforce morals. Take for example the crime of prostitution. It is not against the law to have consensual sex, even with a complete stranger, nor is against the law to charge a fee for services, but if you charge a fee for sex it is against the law. Now some Libertarians like myself may not agree with such laws that do not infringe on anyone's rights, they are still laws. At what point though does the right to choose infringe on the right to live?
@drharris2020 Wrong. It's illegal to kill the unborn in the womb. Just ask Scott Peterson. Unless of course the woman hires a hitman to do it, then it's not murder but a "procedure", like lethal injection. Wait a minute, don't they use lethal injection to kill late-term fetuses?
Congressman Franks.....You are a True American!!! Standing up for the very foundations that this country was founded on, and the same foundations that so many political leaders have thrown by the wayside to pursue more "popular" topics. Stay true to your beliefs!!

I'm shocked at the negative ratings on some of these comments. I guess someone willing to murder babies took offense....

Laws are not to enforce morals.
Laws are to protect citizen's rights.
