  • John Prine is cool even if he only knows three chords

  • This Martin suits him a lot better than the Gibson Jumbo he plays in other videos of the same show. I hope he will play and sing for many years to come, no matter what guitar :)

  • I may only be 35, however I have been enjoying John since before I can recall. My folks were huge followers, and I can literally remember singing along with Illegal Smile, and Fish and Whistle at age 5. I have only become a bigger fan as the years have passed. John has influenced my musical taste my whole life. Makes me happy anytime I see or hear his words, changes my entire daily outlook. Thank you for posting.

  • excellent........

  • Thanks for posting this, what a treat. I bought this album in 1970 not having a clue who he was or what he sounded like. This was the first song on the album and it, of course, set the hook.

I am kind of amazed that everyone knows the lyrics. I thought I was the only one to teach me children such---ahhhh, what was I saying?

  • I decided to see Jeff Beck during this show. I think I may have made the wrong choice.

  • One of the best. He was a mailman in the town I worked in circa 1976.

  • John can still rock the house.... It helps that everyone knows the song by heart... God Bless you John

  • I have listened to John Prine my whole life, my father used to play this all the time. Now I plan on playing it for my kids....when i have some anyway lol.

  • Will be at the Fox in February, and so will John Prine, it will be a good night

  • John Prine has given my wife and I 33 years of joy in our life with his wonderful music, and what bigger compliment can one human give another?

  • Hey John, can't wait to sing along with you in February!

  • A perfect song for Bonnaroo.... Should be it's theme song....

  • Don't you wonder how many of the people in the audience know why the judge's name was Hoffman?

  • @jmccullough I DOOOOOOOOO!!!! At that exact moment too. lol

  • @jmccullough i've always wondered about that! please inform us youngins
