  • Dave Detwiler's students have made so many successes and he is probably one of the number one teachers in the world (In my opinion). He has led a few names around to success. Joe Donegan is a freshman at LSU and took lessons with Dave. He is now like the second top trumpet player right now at LSU, as a freshman! Jessica Calvert is a Freshman at Indiana in Pennsylvania and is playing for the DCI drum corps: Cadets.

  • Okay to danny321321123, TrumpetBoredom is correct. Maynard Ferguson did not play this at all. A guy by the name of Dave Detwiler played this. He was the lead trumpet player for the U.S. Army Blues for 32 years and now is working with Prelude Music and promoting music education. I think i would know this because I take lessons with him right now!!! Not MF... Dave Detwiler

  • someone plz tell me who this is. i see people saying its DEFINITELY maynard, and some saying its definitely NOT maynard. too be honest some of it sounds too nice to be maynard

  • This is not by Maynard, it's by the Army Blues. Focus guys, focus.

  • Yea, I played this in the 80s in High School. It is Maynard Ferguson's "scream machine" but the chart we had was just called "brass machine"...hot tune!

  • @tjpendarvis Thank you !

  • This song is awesome! We are playing this song in my jazz band, i play the trombone and i love this song. Its amazing, we even play it this fast and it actually pretty easy to, even trumpets like the tempo and ask to push it a little faster even. Overall a great song:)

  • @runnerboy140 Where did y'all get the sheet music for it?

  • @sireofzelda im not sure, it was an older piece my jazz band director had

  • i play euphonium and trombone, so this would be hard to pull off

  • @385Productions Its actually not bad on the trombone, i play it and the trombone parts arent hard at all. Its quite fun and amazing to play

  • There is an arrangement for Brass Band called Brass Machine, this is the original Maynard Ferguson version and is called Scream Machine

  • So, after reviewing both Brass Machine and Scream Machine.....they are pretty much exactly the same....notes and all. Here's the link to prove it.

    /watch?v=dPh-sY32kSA&feature=related

  • This arrangement is Brass Machine according to the sheet music my band has.

  • at like 2:32, thats my favorite thing ever written in the history of music that i have heard. such a cool part. this song is almost as fun to listen to as it is to play.

  • @Party13laster this is possible to play. im shocked

  • Sorry, thats definetily not MF ^^

    Thats Dave Stahl

  • @onlytrumpet this is definitely maynard ferguson...i've played this and on the sheet music his name is there...its the ONLY name there under composer.

  • this is maynard ferguson noob!

  • You misunderstood the statement. I was stating that you didn't know the proper name of the song, not asking you it.

  • Then don't argue to me about the actual name of the song, when you clearly don't know the proper name of it. It's a trumpet feature, just like what it says on the music. And thank you for proving my point.

  • @herocko "Don't know the proper name?" At what point have I made it clear that I don't know the proper name?

  • Sounds like Maynard ferguson to me

  • @herocko it's cool. They may be the same song idk. But imma call it brass machine nomatter what people say

  • @tiredman628 Sorry tiredman628, I didn't mean to direct my comment to you, it was intended for baileyboy119

  • @baileyboy119 I actually meant to direct my comment to you, sorry for the inconvenience again.

  • @herocko For the most part, you are right, they are the same thing. The difference, and what accounts for the name, is that in Scream Machine the trumpets really do scream. Unfortunately not every trumpeter can hit that range, (like some high school students) so brass machine was made. In the end, however, I don't really care what you call it, it's good music no matter what you call it!

  • @baileyboy119 Sorry bailyboy119, I didn't mean to direct that comment at you.

  • It is Brass Machine. Nobody try to tell me it isn't, because I play this song. I have the solo. So everyone who says it "scream machine" get outta here.

  • @tiredman628 So you're telling me that Scream Machine and Brass Machine sound the same? If they sound the same, then technically, they are the same song. Just because one song is lower than another, WITH THE SAME NOTES AND RHYTHMS, it doesn't mean they are different.

  • @awesong: Maynard Ferguson is playing the trumpet, right? ;)

  • i like the trumpet solo!

  • I want to hug this song.

  • the songs called SCREAM MACHINE

  • @biketastik but it isnt

  • @biketastik The song is actually called BRASS MACHINE. Get your fatcs straight.

  • @herocko No, this is Scream Machine. Brass Machine, what a lot of High School jazz bands play, is an arrangement of Scream Machine written in a lower register.

  • @baileyboy119 So you're telling me that Scream Machine and Brass Machine sound the same? If they sound the same, then technically, they are the same song. Just because one song is lower than another, WITH THE SAME NOTES AND RHYTHMS, it doesn't mean they are different.

  • love this song!!! playing it tonight at our concert wish me luck lol

  • So good to hear a good quality recording of this! Awesome - thanks!

  • Awesome!
