Water boils at 100 degrees F!!! A flat iron is usually sat at about 350 degrees or higher. Thus, by putting this flat iron on your wet hair, the water/moisture is being boiled out immediately. This means that when you flat iron on wet hair such as this video shows, you are basically boiling the water on your hair causing your hair to be further damaged. Also, passing the flat iron multiple times such as she is doing in the video further increases the damage.

TIP: Your hair should be slightly damp not over soaked. Yes! Flat ironing your hair wet does lock in moisture but if your hair is too wet.......... well it's going to fry. That's why you can hear the popping and sizzling. Hope this helps :)

When your hair has FULLY dried, use a heat protectant on your hair, such as CHI's 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray. Then flat iron your hair. Never put any oil on your hair prior to flat ironing. You can place the oil (natural oils are the best) on your hair after you've flat ironed all of your hair.

Flat ironing your hair damages it much more than it does when it's dry. Try blow drying it first (with some sort of heat protection product) then flat iron it.

TIP: Your hair should be slightly damp not over soaked. Yes! Flat ironing your hair wet does lock in moisture but if your hair is too wet.......... well it's going to fry. That's why you can hear the popping and sizzling. Hope this helps :)

@Abeba82 No offense, but your hair isn't even supposed to be damp. It must be thorougly dry. When your hair has FULLY dried, use a heat protectant on your hair, such as CHI's 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray. Then flat iron your hair. Never put any oil on your hair prior to flat ironing. You can place the oil (natural oils are the best) on your hair after you've flat ironed all of your hair.

I agree with heartluvr40 -- This video is SO frustrating to watch!
First of all, NEVER straighten your hair when it's WET! EVEN if you're using a thermal heat protectant AND mineral straightener! Take it from me, it damages your hair to the MAX.
Secondly, you're only supposed to go through each section of hair ONCE with the straightener. You went through like 4 times with a tiny section of your bottom layer of hair!
Lastly, PLEASE delete this video. You're only misinforming people.

I put in hair lotion once and i put on a flat iron on it straight away and i almost had to get a section of my hair cut cause i almost damaged it cause i used a iron on damp or wet hair. luckly i fixed it with some hair repair cream. also u shouldnt use a iron on ur hair more than 3 times in a row cause it will damage ur hair.

I know i'm gonna sound like a broken record here but PLEASE wait until its dry. combining pressing heat with wet hair will basically cook your hair. dry it and use a good heat protectant before all your hair falls out!!!

Wow I saw this vid a year ago. I still dont think its that bad. I know now she should have let her hair dry some more.
BUT people fail to account that your hair still gets hot/boils under a blowdryer; you just dont hear it sizzling. This is why whether you blowdry or flatiron your hair should already be close to dry.
When I used my wet-to-dry iron my hair was like 90% dry. I think the problem with her is her hair is so wet she has to keep flatironing. I only do one pass with it

WHY ARE YOU FLATIRONING YOUR HAIR WHILE ITS WET?! you're hair is already at a suitable length and doing that to your hair is just putting it on the road to being dry and damaged with severe breakage. you're supposed to blow dry it, air dry, rollerset or anything that inculdes your hair being DRY before you freakin flat iron it ! doing that also strips your hair of its natural moisture levels, just make sure your hair is DRY next time you do that, i repeat, DRY!

Flat ironing your hair damages it much more than it does when it's dry. Try blow drying it first (with some sort of heat protection product) then flat iron it.
