@walless999 Actually, they have NOT been living together under 'one country' for a thousand years. The uygurs are a very distinct people from the han chinese in culture, customs, language and ethnicity.

The chinese landscape is multi-ethnic yes, but the culture is very distinctly Chinese, and certainly the civilization is not multi-ethnic, in fact, it is very homogenous.

Its because they are a truly oppressed people, culture and language suppressed in every turn in society, and openly discrimitated against in their own home land. If you ask most uygurs, all they want is equality and justice.  Not too much to ask from the goverment that is supposedly non discriminatory against all 56 nationalities that it governs.

@walless999 The Uighurs have a right to their own self-determination, and while I cannot speak for their voice, if they are being mistreated by the Chinese, which they are, then China is already treating East Turkestan like another country rather than the province they claim it to be. Unification of the two nations would be much easier if the two had their own autonomous governments... take England and Scotland for example. Or Britain and the US.

Central aisa is a cossroad and mixing pot of lots of nomad. Being nomad means also they cannot settle down in one name and identity. Tocharian was the eastmost indo-european lang speaker. If they were the main ancester of turk, then why turk suddenly changed their lang to altai-turkish? So it is more likely tocharian was destroyed by turk and assimilated. Her name is Aytulan Matkasim, I think this is her second album since she had her first one about 10 years ago, it wasn't really good though, had too much Chinese influnce. The song is a folk song, can not be mixed with chinese language.the singer herself actually doesn't know what a folk song is, Good song became very bad/ the only good thing about this song is that its music, played with Uyghur instrments.
