THANKS Burt....I see you know this inner negativity....which proves that we ARE all one....all connected. I will try what you suggest I do and be aware.
I understand intrinsically that awareness is within the observer of being. I also feel that through regular meditation practice we can observe our thought processes impartially, and control to certain extent, our responses to our thoughts and challenge our belief systems. Is this the beginning of spiritual
My ego makes it very difficult for me to listen...especially when I am depressed and I don't want to listen to these negative thoughts so I will try listening to nature and that may work. I often sleep to silence the negative thoughts but I can't sleep my life away.
Hi Being48. I can relate to what you are saying about finding it being hard to listen to negative emotions. I used to try to extinguish the feeling by trying to sleep it off or by trying to rationalise why I was feeling so bad. After going to a psychotherapist I learned to listen and acknowledge the feelings. I found that the more I try to suppress the feelings, the more I was giving it power. Try being aware of the feeling and try to name it and you should find it will soon pass away.
Someone asked me a similar question Klibar. After many years of studying the philosophy of the mind and researching scientific findings the answer is that the mind is in two hemispheres connected by the corpus callosum. The left side of the brain is the seat of language and processes in a logical and sequential order. The right side is more visual and processes intuitively, holistically, and randomly. In any case the answer to your question is simply "I am the one who is aware and can be free"
There are true mystics... then there are also PSEUDO-mystics, not necessarily bad or evil, just half-baked.

There is nothing wrong with thoughts. It is our identification or belief of them that get us in trouble.

"Try being aware of the feeling..."
you are right. thats the way to get freedom from our thoughts.
you are just missing one point to be totally free:
who is the one trying or naming the feeling?
and if you find the answer:
who did find?
love.

opsss!!
one more thing.
if you are finally totally free:
who is totally free?
