Thumbs up if you realize Toshihiko Sahashi (the composer) arranged this theme as a direct shoutout to the End Titles of Blade Runner. He also styled certain tracks after old Godzilla movies and Gustav Holst's Mars Bringer of War. The whole soundtrack is like a loving tribute to the history of science fiction and neo-noir music.
The BEST track of the entire anime, and one of my top 20 tracks of anime overall. It always makes me inspired to jump into a huge mecha and punch the sh*t out of monsters/mecha with my mighty hydrolic fists.
I could be wrong because I can't compare the two effectively but the string ensemble part to me sounds like the Blade Runner end theme but this song is still bad ass.
does anyone know where to find some sheet music or a tab for this song? i have been trying to do it myself, but i cant get it perfect... and i am a perfectionist
dont kno why but i just luv dat part starting from 0:36. just... wow O_O it sounds really nice =] is that da keyboard on strings mode or the natural sound from sumthing else?
me too...they should just make that part be the entire song, i could listen to that same part over and over again...i remember when "big-o" first came on cartoon network. The music always stood out...it was very dramatic, i think they really nailed it on this one.
@HardAsARock222 I watched every episode back to back when it premiered on toonami... it was my favorite TV show at the time subtract Dragon Ball Z. The music from this show always moved me, and it still does almost a decade later.
@whitezinnia from 1:08 i beefed up that brass in the background whilst by acident fiddling round with my sound options on my headphones and my god, eargasm
@whitezinnia 2 years later... it's not as simple as a keyboard setting, think more along the lines of either a genuine orchestra, or a fake one made from programs like EDIROL, Reason, etc
This track plays when I finally figure out the answers to the questions during my exams.

Some of my favorite music to come out of an anime. Princess mononoke would have to be number one tho :)

It's like an animated series of Inception, with a few tweaks.

Love this theme. LOVE it. I would watch two Gollums hock a single loogie back and forth for two minutes if it had this theme.

@whitezinnia completely right, the strings make it. definitely 'The' song for The Big O.

@whitezinnia i must agree. really does give that good feeling, and with the beat going on makes it sound epic.
