  • does anyone remember when alex harvey played a gorbels hard nut .it was it a drama on the tv in the late 70s i was very young me and my older brother watched it he told me ;that blokes in a rock band .i thought glasgows a place ill never go! good it was though thats why i remember over 35years later any one know what its called??

  • @assinomen

Actually, I believe you are referring to frankie Miller in the drama 'Jobs For The Boys', which you can watch here on YouTube.

  • @Elysiumfire yeah thats it .my brother said it was alex harvey they look a little simmilar and are in bands ..thanks i can watch it again

  • An epic classic!

  • Seen a few times with Max on vocals and a convention day about them and I have to say brilliant on all accounts.

  • Saw them live in 1973, supporting Slade at Wembley they were brilliant went away a SAHB fan, memories!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @olfatcrusader Two of my fave bands and you saw them both on the same night. Dayum lol... that's just LUCKY :))))

  • That must be the best £1.40 you've ever spent

  • Love this song since 1975, Search for FRAMED on YT!

  • Why do all the great who die too young have such good heads of hair? Bastards.

  • 4:15 sound like coheed and cambria

  • @MurphyDinklage Grow up, he was here before they were even in the underpants. Don't get me wrong, Coheed are amazing but this is so much better.

  • @AMattyDevil Shrink down, i think that was the point i was making.

  • @MurphyDinklage Don't you mean Coheed and Cambria sound like this?

  • @NoyzyBoyZ3 lol tomato tomahto

  • One of the best intros ever.

  • One of the most brilliant bands & well overlooked for live performances ~ The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.If I remember correctly, this was the only classic hit they had !

  • Song is so great! Looks like Michael Palin @ 2:31 mark.

  • The live version of this is killer. Thanks for posting.

  • Oh yes, It's even better than i remember :)

  • this song is incredible

  • So great song by SAHB

  • the live album released in the USA was great!

  • Sounds like AC-DC did some listening to these guys !!!

  • I'm not a huge Helloween fan but they do an excellent cover of Faith Healer. It's worth checking out.

  • One of the best band..

  • co za asy....

  • great live band saw them at the kursaal in the 70s

  • @goofygolfer This was the version I was looking for ....also caught this lot @ Fairfield Hall in Croydon......bliss

  • Love listening to the live version of this!!!

  • The master!!!

  • Pure rock music. Vambo rule!

  • They were an excellent live band. I was lucky to see the at Nebworth along with the Allman brother etc

  • As I listen to classic rock stations around the country on internet, it's really cool to hear what artists were played. These artists still have great regional followings. SAHB still in rotation on WNCX Cleveland....good stuff

  • @jth626 Harvey was from the same City as me.He took a OD in the 80ties.The Beatles used to open for him in Germany, before they were famous. This tracks really really good.Would have loved to have saw them at the old Apollo. Its gone now and so is he.But the music lives on,what a track that was wonderful

  • @legandrydirk Just a point of clarification - As far I remember and supported by Wiki post, Harvey didn't die of a overdose but had a heart attack after performing at a concert,

  • @57VCH Some people say the same about Morrison. He died to young,we can both agree on that.Great music The Beatles used to open for them in Germany. Now lots off people would not even have heard off them.I heard there trying to raise funds, for a tribute to him.Glasgow finds it hard to celebrate its famous sons. The times come for a homage to Alex Harvey, and long over due to if you ask me.

  • @legandrydirk Both were legends for sure. So many talented individuals die too young but they should not be forgotten.

  • @57VCH Even in Dublin they have a statue of the guy out off Thin Lizzy the singer.Shame about Gary Moore who died last night.

  • @legandrydirk The guy out of Thin Lizzy the singer?Come on mate, where have you been? His name is Phil Lynott, and the bollocks of a bass player as well!

  • @OrAnOxBaRaToNeZ Not a fan so why would I remember his name?I could have easily said, the guy on the war of the worlds album and been just as vague.

  • man.I love this tune!

  • @tubesteakbooky always remember vambo rools ok

  • £1.40 - bastard !!!!!

  • Favourite of favourites by SAHB. This track has everything and they really were brilliant live.

  • @pglogofilms I'm with you on this - Love the Tomahawk kid too (not to to mention Vambo!)

  • SEE .. alex harvey sings delta dawn Please comment and make these idiots aware that its a bad move to slag off SAHB ....THANKS

  • @TheAk47666

There's no accounting for taste... might as well try to convince SAHB fans that Justin Bieber's charismatic. Just can't see it.

  • @kara1464 lol Im glad they have never heard of SAHB ,they would only spoil it or drop bombs on it !

  • @TheAk47666

I think SAHB did do the rounds in the good ole Useless of A at one time, but some of them lead cellular lives and they're not aware of anything unless it carries a gun, can be shot, or is black.

Ahem.... erm.... not that I'm racist or anything ; )

  • @kara1464 Or has a preeeeety mouth boy !

  • @kara1464 just an ass

  • Thanks for posting, brings back some fantastic memories! SAHB first band I ever saw as a spotty teenager in 1975 at Pompey Guildhall with The Impossible Dream tour.

You have cost me a bloody fortune as have had to go on Amazon Frenzy to buy all albums again!

36 years on and this still has a freshness and an edge about it and knocks spots off much of the current stuff.

Really appreciate the post and nice slide show too.

    Best wishes WnP

  • try recoil version by alan wilder

  • The best live band of all time.Saw them twice and never recovered.

  • I have taken years to re-collect the band and song, what a flashback, thanks to Soundhog and this Post. Brilliant. Thanks for making it happen,

  • Saw them many times years ago in Manchester at an old stomping ground called..the Stoneground near Belview...they were awsome live!!R.I.P!Alex

  • Miss them so much

  • The music of Alex Harvey (RIP) & SAHB lives on to this day - thanx to tribute bands who continue to carry on the legacy.

  • This is a superb track and was one of the highlights of the times I saw them way back when I was younger and had hair. Zal and Alex could have quite an intimidating stage presence, which came through in a much more aggressive live style. Definitely one of the best bands I ever saw - RIP Alex, the world and music are poorer for your passing.

  • Oh man that kicked so much ass! I'd like to see Coldplay, Muse, Snow Patrol, Keane, Aqualung & all these so-called prog/art-rock bands from today try to match the intensity of the SAHB. Today's prog/art-rock is not even remotely close to the awesome prog/art-rock from the classic rock era. Bands like Coldplay et al should be thanking SAHB, Pink Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson, Yes, ELP, Alan Parsons Project, Gentle Giant, UK & all the other greats everyday instead of being so self-indulged.

  • @bucky468 Spot on. The only people who come close today for me are Prodigy> I think they could have lived with the bands you listed and I am a child of the seventies. I delight in seeing today's kids raving about seventies music because they are so starved of real talent out there today.

  • @stixmix2375 you are right...i played dep purples "child in time" for my 12 yr old & she loves it

  • |I think the Sensational Alex Harvey Band is gaining fans due to youtube all the time, and desevedly so. but the group without the sorely missed "Sensational" Alex Harvey is however just the "Band".

  • The first time I heard this was in Boeblingen GE 1985 and still as strong today !

  • Thankyou 'Red'.....lovely to know that there is another true believer out there...I'm not that sure exactly what it is but SAHB definately rock my box...I'm waiting to get fed up of them cos I play them all te time, but it just hasn't hapened yet...hopefully never will.

  • Love the drummer. really.

  • crisp bag...stick with it fella. becoming a sahb fan will be a hugely rewarding experience. I've been mildly, slightly, dementedly pretty obsessed with them since they turned up at 'the Memorial Hall' in Barry in 1974. Alex wandered on and just started talking to the 'boys and girls'; like we had all known him for years.

I was fascinated. I saw then three times more in the following yeras and I have seen the new line up twice....so Crisp bag old fruit, stick in there.' BEST' live band ever.

  • @streets585 Hi, I saw Alex 5 or 6 times he was amazing, and I think, the most original, bizare band ever, I lived through my skin/punk/romantic days, but nothing, has ever come close to alex, to this day, his music is amazing, and just undescriable. I've seen millions of bands in many times, but TSAHB, will always be way out in front, of unexplainable, and pure whatever

  • @redredreds100 Red and Streets I'm with you.

The key word is 'unexplainable' and so the experience fascinates - quenching thirst over and over and I keep playing them over and over.

  • As I've only just 'discovered' SAHB I guess I will have to listen to this song 5 million times before I start to get fed up with it.. then I'll move on to Midnight Moses

  • Saw them at Leeds Uni about 1975... Best band I've ever saw, even though they were never my favourite. But individually they were great, and they were really unified as a band. Alex was great fun and is sorely missed, but I must say that some of the songs and playing I like the most is on the Four Play album: the Sensational Alex Harvey Band minus Alex. And check out 'Who Murdered Sex' on the Rock Drill album. If this band were around like this today, they'd be huge... And would deserve it!

  • Love SAHB, saw them live in N.O with Jethro Tull. SAHB only had about a 40 minute set and I was pissed because I went to see THEM!

  • Super !! Great Music !!!!!

  • AAAAAAAALLLLTTEER SCHWEDE!!!!

    Very THX for this Song!!!

  • oh yeah. part of my teens. love you. ask the man inside you head.

  • fk £1.40 a ticked name u price to see these guys

  • Okay! Thats the truth!!!

  • Long time forgotten. Incredibly fantastic.

  • brilliant live band lucky to have seen them live

  • @stirk999 you lucky bastard!! i was just a bit too young to have been as lucky as you

  • @stirk999 lucky guy. I graduated 1974 those were good times.

  • yes yes yes *****5*****

  • SAHB now this was something happening on a different level OB

  • Out of their time....Zal and Alex were supreme!

  • An amazing by one of the greatest bands of all time!!! We are really inspired by these guys, and would love your opinion on our material, any feedback would be greatly appreciated, keep on rocking man!!

  • this is a massive killer track's :O)

  • Thanks Dave...put me out of my misery. I still cant forgive though!

  • I was due to see them in 1978 at the Manchester Apollo and the gig got cancelled and I always thought it was because he died but he didnt die until 1982. I think he must have had a heart attack...anyone know?

  • SlickNick840 - Yep he had 2 heart attacks in Zeebrugge, Belgium just before his 47th birthday

  • its 1974, i"m in Glasgow Apollo,my head"s swimming I"m in heaven man!!!

  • I first saw SAHB at Greens playhouse I thing, about '72 and saw then a few times after that as well. It was an absolute privilage to see one of SAHB's concerts.

RIP Alex your legacy lives on and on and on.........................

  • This will always be a fucking great tune.

  • @naturesony : by a fucking GREAT man. Only got to know him circa 2000, and been kicking my head ever since. How could I miss him out???

  • yeah,i was fortunate to see them twice at the ol kursaal !!!

  • us too saw them in about 74 twice..been crazy on him ever since what a show man..remember he wacked my hand with a cane dressed up as ateacher with a morter board can you believe i actually enjoyed it

  • zeitlos genial !

70ern gespielt. greetings to little zwiebus

  • SAHB is so good. yay

  • one of the STRANGEST bands ever !! the friggin guitar player was a clown for christ sakes !!

  • i was at this gig at the kursaal back in the early seventies it was one of my first concerts a fantastic night still sounds the nuts!!!!!

  • Sensational....im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes....

  • real fuckin rock star !

  • ABSOLUT KULT!!!!!!!!

DER Hammer der 70er bis Dato!!!

  • ALEX THE KING OF THE TWILIGHT WORLD...

  • I havent heard it yet......They all brilliant though.Just back from George Thorogood gig, awesome as well mate..But Harvey was out of this world.

  • once again:experience...the bright dark ages:::

    expect the unexpected

"the ducks(dux) dont work but fuck you baby"

  • The buildup is incredible, with the long intro. And then there are the religious implications, which adds a lot of depth and other meanings to it. It IS incredible, it came out during the era when standards were incredibly hig, everybody was trying to be as good as the Beatles and other 60's artists who had essentially blown the lid off anything that had been done before.

  • RIP ALEX

  • is this a drug song? like jefferson airplane's stuff?
