I greatly respect the desires of many of my fellow citizens to start up a third party to challenge the establishment, but its important to remember that the Dems and Repubs were not legislated into existence. Mathematically speaking, there is room enough for only two national political parties. Even if the conservatives were to somehow supplant the Republicans, they too would have to move to the left in order to capture the broader middle ground. It's the way our electoral system is set up.

I drink enough beer, and don't need the pizza. I agree with 80% of what Harper has done. More often than not I agree, so why would I not spend my money to support those who do what I want ?

Iggy could never be better. If Layton was a liberal they could win, but they couldn't with Dion and I'm not sure they can with Iggy either. I see Harper's authoritarian streek in line with all of our strong PM's, like Chretian and Trudeau. I wish they had a majority.

I disagree. I want him to abolish the senate. or at least make it elected and under fixed terms, lifetime membership breeds apathy. Mulroney wasn't that bad, but the left gave him a harder time than they give Harper and Brian was our greenest PM as well as our most immigrant friendly PM.

but to be honest there are many things I do not like about Canada. For example I hate hockey, I hate the cold, I hate the repressive laws about alcohol and tobacco here, but I do like the people, especially here in Toronto. Can't win em all I guess.

I think the Canadians are the kindest and nicest people that I have ever met.

I once had a job where I was over there about two or three times a month for about three years. I told many of them that Americans sometimes joke about how they are.

in many ways we are no different from Americans. Most are generally pleasant and easy going. Just leave the bikers alone, and if you go to Quebec make sure you have at least basic understanding of French. For the most part though we are decent and kind.  to be honest Toronto, which I love, isn't all that pleasant, but the money is here, and the landscape is gorgeous
