I was watching the high speed tunnel entry someone had uploaded and immediately i was alarmed that a 300km/h train was not protected by high fencing.. or barriers etc. As i much enjoy watching these incredible machines i continued to look at the videos..and then this one. Why is it that some one as simple as myself can look at this and see that no fences is a huge issue, yet engineers and governments passed this. Some things beat the shit outta me.. oh btw the Shinkansen is the best looking

If it had been a TGV (which uses Jacobs bogies), the carriages would not have nearly jack-knifed as the ICE would have done if it had not been in a tunnel.

For that reason I believe the ICE is at a major safety disadvantage compared with TGVs. Although the number of times such an incident occurs is very limited.

trains with this kind of shape have a force applied to them, especially on high speeds, that's pushing them upwards, which also makes them very lightweight. the only power that prevents the train from flying off is some sort of very weak connection between the train and the rail. so it seems that in this case sheep broke that weak connection.
