I won't buy another card until there's one that could play crysis on 100 fps with all very high because... if two gtx 280 sli still keeps it at 40 fps... what about when a better game than crysis will be released? is it gonna play it at 20/15 fps? it's not worth it!

i have 2 4870's in crossfire and same settings as this it gets about 30-35 fps. FYI i have them overclocked to 790 mhz core and 4400mhz memory. With the fans at 40 % it really is amazing playing crysis at these settings.

my 8800 GTS 512 get 39fps average with all of crysis eye candy at max with 1440x900 res, so for me an upgrade really isn't needed as of yet, plays Assassins creed max/ gears of war max/ vegas 2 max....you get the picture xD

in my oppinion, if you already have a 8800 GTS 512 or 9 series, there really isn't any need for an upgrade at all, maybe RAM/CPU but not graphics, till a game comes out that'll need more graphics power don't upgrade, save ya cash :P

errrm well it should be just about but its not worth the risk get a 1000 at least to make sure your ready to go and very future proof. id reccomend the toughpower or enermax galaxy series but make sure its the galaxy 1000 dxx edition

with TF2 the small maps can get dull rather quickly, i find myself only playing the Surf/sniper maps xD IMHO CoD4 is alot more fun then TF2 in terms of close quater fighting.

Try to benchmark your GTX 280 with single gpu & in SLI. I benchmark my 8800GT XXX & found out that I get almost identical results in Crysis using single gpu & in SLI with a 2 ms diff. in average fps. sucks!

Nvidia has definitely been slacking recently which is very disappointing.

All tests have shown that the 9800 x2 is actually faster. Nvidia has gotten sloppy and complacent with their engineering due to lack of competition. All they basically did was add more bulk to their 9800 series which is basically the same architecture as the 8800 series. Not only that but they are corrupt in their pricing and monopoly of games, TWIMTBP nonsense. They didn't incorporate DX10.1, smaller die size, DDR5. Sloppy. Reminds me of Intel before they came out with the Core 2.

DDR5 isn't exactly a good thing. And no games are using 10.1 anyway. By the time they start doing that, DX11 will be out.

DX11 won't be out until Windows 7 is out which is a long time. Assassin's Creed used dx10.1 which dramatically improved performance with AA on but because of Nvidia's influence dropped it. The original DX10 was broken which drastically lowered performance with minor increase in quality. Nvidia holds a monopoly on games with their "The way it's meant to be played" mantra which is what is holding back developers from supporting DX10.1. So in essence they are holding back progress & technology.

btw whats good is because instead of having 4 cards which requires the cpu and ram to be used a lot to scalr them, their are just 2 solid cards. so the framerates are solid and they dont jump around!
