I don't think most people realize the vastness of space. The fastest thing we've ever sent into space, if pointed at our closest star beyond the sun, would take about 65,000 years to get there.
Math is a lie! There is no such thing as subtraction or addition! How can you prove it exists? You can't, because it's a bogus horrific psychotic evil twisted idiotic lie!
I love scientists that are astonished by the poetry of Nature. Life is magic, despite all the rational explanations. It's all beautiful. Marvelous, indeed.
Please help me. What's the music during the Kew Gardens scene? I've scoured the internet, and have been mislead over and over. Anyone know it to hear it?
I used to be a Christian that simply never questioned my religious beliefs. I used to say stupid things like "if we came from monkeys then why are there still all these other monkeys". However i finally educated myself about evolution, cosmology, biology, and physics and i found answers to all the questions i had. People just need to stop and truly look for the answers they seek and they will find reasonable explanations.
You may not realize how comforting it is to hear that a former "person of faith" was able to educate themselves out of that black hole of apologetics and rhetoric.
You have made me a happy dude today, 4me2cclearly! Thanks!
So...... you mean you went to college or moved into the fields of blah blah blah?
The whole thing is a huge lie, what even is the force that would drive evolution? We know it is not mutation or "survival of the fit enough" . They have no E and O, just a lot of loaded words that are never explained.
All I hear you saying is you don't understand, because you refuse to learn.
"Debating creationists on the topic of evolution is rather like trying to play chess with a pigeon — it knocks the pieces over, craps on the board, and flies back to its flock to claim victory."
Ummm nice use of sophistry, just all evolutionist! Point is they have NO E and O!!!!!! SIMPLE AS THAT. It is about as logical as looking at a car and thinking it could change into a truck. (What at the processes that drive evolution? Like I already said, they are not mutation or "survival of the fit enough")
"machine, not a living organic species" BUT!! if you could prove a natural process that could change a car into a truck I would have to agree!
What does "random changes" and "new traits" mean? If you mean by these words, mutation of DNA, that is falsified already.
Should I also not use bandages if I am bleeding? Cause they are the result of modern understanding of materials and science? See how stupid your last point is? Good science I embrace, poor science not so much....

Sagan presents the animation as fact, but it's really only artistic license: interpolated frames substituting for actual evidence for change between actual life forms. That Sagan relies on this shows the embarrassing lack of empirical evidence for evolution.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No, no, it's simple. Evolution as a process of change is represented in the animation of (this) Ep 2 of Cosmos. Actually this is pure speculation: the interpolated frames don't exist empirically; they are pure *artistic* license, and thus don't actually constitute evidence at all. Nevertheless they *are* effective at convincing scientific illiterates of evolution, as I originally pointed out.
in the 30 years of scientific discover since Carl Sagan made this series, everything he said has only been further proven & clarified...
...yet still strangely some people still dont get it...
why?
because they are convinced that their own blinkered blind faith literal interpretation of a collection of stories written in a book about events over the last 2000 years is somehow a more complete & relevant picture...
which in turn is why i choose (& encourage others) to laugh at these people ;-)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ok show us the evidence for all the intermediate steps in evolution represented by the animation. You can't which is why Sagan relies on this artistic license to (falsely) present to people evolution as a fact.
Even if there is more to it as you claim (there was, even then) - that Sagan deems this presentation sufficient to convince people demonstrates a contempt for the general public's ability to grasp scientific concepts, as if they only there to accept the word of elitists like CS. Ironic...
...ok, let me get this straight, you want me to go do your learning for you? ...read a book for you? ...prove what has already been proven countless times over ?
no... go do it yourself... i have no interest in educating you because you are too lazy
...and i dont know what makes you feel so high & mighty to cast aspersions on "the general public's ability to grasp scientific concepts"... i have been able to explain high level maths & science concepts to average people, & they repeatedly get it
@chubas41 Name the animals represented by the numerous frames at :36 seconds, for example. You can't because there's no evidence for them. Again: the animation is pure artistic license, neither evidence nor an argument.
@horsie111 the point he's making is that man and apes have common ancestors, and from this common ancestor modern apes evolved as well as australopitheci and later man. There is evidence of that, starting from Lucy and going on, you just choose not to accept it. Suit yourself, i choose to believe in the scientific method and facts, you choose something else, i wonder what that is.
@chubas41 Yeah, but the thing is - when it's circumstantial, it's not necessariy fact, and nature has a way of fooling us humans. I wouldn't be surprised at all to discover that black holes do not exist. Facts from fiction, and there is no in-between.

A car is a machine, not a living organic species.
Look at the flu for example. It evolves, and we can watch this happen in real time.
It takes on random changes, the better suited the virus is for survival, determines how affective it is in passing on the new traits.
People that dont believe in evolution should have to pray the flu away, and not run to the doctor for vaccines created by the study of evolution.)
