  • Is it sad that this is probably the saddest/sweetest thing I've EVER seen?

  • I cried harder at this than I ever did at Dot's death in Wakko's Wish. This is probably the most depressing moment from my entire childhood. XD It still makes me cry...

  • This.

This is what real cartoons are about! I miss the days when cartoons could reduce a single person to tears...

  • Me: Hmm, wonder if I will cry at this video

    *clicks on video*

1 second in and I was already crying!!!

  • Can anybody post the Animaniacs cartoon a Gift of gold please.

  • See! This is how you do it George Lucas! The only thing you can make people feel is regret.

  • I think this is a lesson for all of us...

  • @JAIROUS48763 Definitely. I think Pinky's character really shows what love is all about. It's amazing how a show about lab mice can have such beauty.

  • Pinky said the letter was very, very important...whose name was mentioned over and over in the letter? Therefore, who is very important to Pinky?

  • Most touching moment in TV history. :)

  • ...who left all these damn onions laying around?

  • Just watched this and I started to cry...it was like a release. It was soooooo good!

  • Even after all of these years, I still want to cry every time I watch this.

  • @WallsOfJelico It's touching how Pinky is so selfless and how Brain has an emotional breakdown. You've got to love these two.

  • always used to be one of my favorite shows to watch as a child ; untill it got canceled

  • I wish this vid included the final scene where they exchange gifts -- Brain gets Pinky a spell-checker; Pinky gets Brain a globe key-chain (i.e. "the world").

  • THIS WAS SO FRACKING ADORABLE! :D (huggles the vid and adds to favs)

  • P.S. By any chance do you have in that big bag of yours: the world?

  • The 4 people that disliked this are assholes

  • THis actually made me tear up a bit.

  • he took over the world... then he couldn't think of anything to make people do

  • I remember this one...........The day Brain ALMOST took over the world!!!!

  • Aww, the Brain is so adorable when he cries!

  • Awwww I love Pinky!! Soo sweet. I never thought I'd see Brain cry.

  • This is sad even for Warner Brothers!

  • 'dear santa hello haha narf' lmao! watching this as an adult is so much funnier

  • Hi,you can download the complete seasons from ht tp : / /bit.l y/phbX1t

  • if you didn't cry to this when you were young you can't call yourself a 90's kid

  • I want to take Pinky home with me. I don't care how animated and fictional he is, he is ADORABLE! God knows, I'd even take the Brain.

  • Four peoples hit the dislike button because they were blinded by all their tears and thought it was the like button.

  • @Shiizuko Yeah, that's a good reason. It really shocked me though when I read a review of this episode that was negative. This reviewer said that he didn't like this episode because they made Brain cry and show emotion. He obviously missed the point of the scene; it's called character development. It was good when another reviewer responded to him and said that this reviewer doesn't understand good character development when he sees it.

  • Aaah, when cartoons were good and meaningful.

  • hehe39hehe:-)

  • That's so sweet! <3

  • Sooooooooooooo cute <3

  • Pobrecito pinky (poor pinky)

  • This special makes my husband cry, and I'M the fangirl in this family. lol

  • Aw... Look at those little puppy eyes they both have!

  • I am not ashamed to say that this is litarally the only Christmas special that made me cry.

  • @sotnosen95 the Star Wars Holiday Special makes me cry, lol

  • WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (SOB!) it's soooo. soooooooo BEAUTIFUL!

  • This is yet another example in an ever-growing pile of how cartoons from the late eighties and the decade of the nineties (for the most part) had something that the next generation of cartoons sorely and completely lack:

    Heart and soul.

This is also why I love Pinky: he is constantly berated and criticized by The Brain, but no matter how badly he's treated he still cares for Brain like a big brother.

Of Pinky, I can only say this:

    Here's NARFing at you, kid.

  • @millenniumf1138 big brother? I dunno man, they way those two act and the way pinkey shamelessly follows Brain no matter what.....that just screams Love. not that soppy "love like a freind" thing. no...True love. Oh Brain, when will you return pinky's love?!

  • @Dawnaat18 I think I should have said 'little brother'.

But that's the beauty of cartoons: you can make of them whatever you want. :)

  • @Dawnaat18 I think that we can count the Halloween episode as Brain's return of love. Brain travels all the way to Hades to save Pinky, and even though the contract says that he can never take over the world again if he succeeds in saving Pinky, Brain still chooses to save Pinky. He tries to hide his emotions, but they come out to the point where even Brain doesn't bother trying to wipe away his tears. I always find that part emotional.

  • @Dawnaat18 Oh, by the way, I love the way you explained it. The words "true love" often come off as sickly sweet, but here, it feels right in an unsentimental way. I simply love how Tom Ruegger and the rest of the writers developed Pinky and the Brain's beautiful relationship. They managed to do it in a very genuine way, without being sentimental. We also can see it even though neither of the characters openly say that they love the other, which is good writing.

  • @Dawnaat18 Sorry, this is my last comment. It's a shame that some people think that these two are gay; there was even a sociologist who wrote an article about how they're gay. Seriously, why can't two male characters love each other without being called gay?

  • @Manigran: Amen Dude Amen!

  • @bannedbyMusloons Thank you. That's one of the best replies I've ever gotten on Youtube.

  • @millenniumf1138 You've got to love Pinky for that. And I have to bring up the Halloween episode at this point, because we see Pinky go to hell so that Brain can have what he wants. That really clarifies his love.

  • @millenniumf1138 And Pinky also bears all the tortures in Hades for Brain's sake. That's why I love him.

  • D8 I'm crying.

    It's May.

    IM CRYING.

  • I have to admit it i feel so gay. I am gonna go hve a warm shower and glass of chardonnay.

  • @karatasos22cm Don't worry; it's okay to cry. It doesn't make you any less of a person.

  • T_T

  • Touching.

  • Oh, Pinky is so sweet. It just shows how much he cares about his friend. It's so sad when the Brain reads the letter and he just feels so bad about what he did. Awww, I'm going to cry!

  • I miss this Television Show....Y+Y

  • well i bet someone feels like a douche right about now

  • I cried<3

  • WHO DIDN'T CRY AFTER WATCHING THIS?!?!? Aww..I was in tears.....Sniff.....

  • @MaraJunnaya Maurice LaMarche and Rob Paulsen cried while taping this. They said that this was their favourite episode of the series.

  • sobs)

  • I wonder if it is the tears what make people cry, or the idea that Brain felt like the world's biggest asshole after reading pinky's kind words.

  • @Whiteoverblue What gets to me is Pinky's letter and the fact that we see Brain cry for the first time.

  • Crap... I cried... :'C

  • Love how even in the middle of an emotional breakdown, Brain still manages to sneak in a 'YES!'

  • pinky must be pop'd

  • I don't know what makes me cry this or dobbys death god bless that house elf god bless pinky and the brain sniff sorry I am crying this is vary sad I cry when pinky gives brain a key chain of the world x'(

  • I almost cried

  • @nakedbutthead Almost? ALMOST?!? Have you no Soooooooooooooooul? :)

  • @nakedbutthead I was reduced to tears when I was younger when Pinky was crying and before Brain started crying after he read Pinky's letter.

  • @spiritgirl41192 Same! I broke down crying at "Joy to the world! Yes!" It's so touching!

  • Oh Pinky, you are so kind<3 I'm starting to cry right now.

  • AWWWWWwwwwww!

  • Poor Pinky.

  • T_T Curse you TV Tropes! Curse you and your tear jerker page!

  • *cries*

OMG this is so precious, i wish they made cartoons like this nowadays. but all they have now is junk. That's why the internet rules, it is the only force that can bring this scene back into the light.

Thank you internet, for bringing this back to our generation

  • This STILL makes me cry. Who thought Pinky and the Brain would ever make us cry?

  • The Sweetest Thing Ever!...and after when Pinky gives Brain the present he bought him and its a keyring with the world...awwww !!

  • I love this part. It shows that despite all of the abuse that Brain hands Pinky, Pinky still considers Brain to be his best friend. It shows a pure spirit in Pinky.

  • Some of the most IQ-lacking people are some of the most loving.

  • @eastwing329 The Halloween episode also shows that beautifully. Pinky goes to Hell for eternity so that Brain can have the world. And all the tortures of Hell could not break his spirit. You've got to love him.

  • P.S. By any chance do you have in that big old bag of yours... THE WORLD! X..

Best line ever in the entire series!

  • Did they actually succeed? I always wondered this. The Brain didn't make his people do anything particullar, but he did have them under control for a minute.

Then he destroyed the control panel. He could always rebuild it with his brain.

All the Noodle Noggin dolls are still intact, you just need The Lab's side of the chain, and you have your world under control.

  • @kawikatube Assuming the Noodle Noggin dolls worked (which I am sure they would, its rarely the theory behind brains plans that fail) then... do you really think people would keep those ugly toys, or find a way to get them out of sight and mind. Also, i have always thought that the gathering of people in their living rooms was essential to the plan, putting all the people in the one place at the one time. Thus, to be effective, the conditions would need to be recreated, which is unlikely :)

  • @DoovieMIK I think if Brain didn'tt get so emotional in Pinky's letter, he would have hadd control. They did get 6 billion dolls out to everyone (in the cartoon) now in reality, only 25% or less of the population are Christian, %75 are Muslim, so you have to take that into consideration, some are completely athiest. In cartoon world, I think they did succeed. Brain just should have held together more. He doesn't want to take over the world to be evil, he just wants to prove his mousy worth.

  • @kawikatube Yeah they succeeded. Brain devised pony costumes for them both then created a time machine and transported them to the year 2010. Their plan is almost complete now, phase 2 begins at 9:00AM EST tomorrow.

  • Gimme that stuppid letter FUck U bRaIn

  • *tears up*

  • zort narf troz XD?!?!?!?!?

  • zort narf troz XD?!?!?!?!?

  • Narf!

  • Lol, how cute.

  • The 2 people who disliked this video are probably terrorists.

  • @AmericanThunder they're justin beiber and spongebob, who are both jealous.

  • I hated the brain. Except for this moment.

  • I have to fight tears every time I watch this.

  • It is a shame that this is the only clip I can find of this on youtube (Outside of the intro). I haven't watched it from beginning to end in over ten years and yet I find myself having to hold back tears.

This was Pinky and the Brain at their finest and nothing made in the past decade has come close to having half the emotional impact this special did.

  • @SchweitzerMan Watch Futurama episode Jurassic Bark....

  • @SchweitzerMan I agree. The Halloween special has always got to me though, so I think that's worthwhile to mention. The part where Brain waves goodbye to Pinky and cries always breaks my heart.

  • good i miss that show.

  • HE WAS SOOOOO CLOSE TO CONQUERING THE WORLD SOOOOOO CLOSE!

  • I think this is one of the most heartfelt moments ever written by the writers of animaniacs.

  • @pixargod Yes, it was. I think the farewell scene in the Halloween episode was also very heartfelt; that part always gets to me. And who can forget the scenes in Wakko's Wish with Yakko and Dot's sweet interaction? I find those scenes to be very heartfelt.

  • @Manigran

I miss the days when cartoons like this were well written and took risks. :(

  • @pixargod Me too. I think that the censors have gotten too unreasonable so as to kill creativity. It's unfortunate. Oh well.

  • @Manigran

Another great Warner Bros cartoon next to Pinky and the brain and animaniacs was Batman: The Animated series which also had great writing, mature storylines, superb animation as well as stylish film noir backgrounds and lighting.

  • @pixargod That sounds amazing! I've never actually seen that show. Maybe I should check it out.

  • I completely forgot about this episode, the reason.....it's too emotional!! :'(

  • Only Pinkie and the Brain can have a show about 2 world conquering mice... that make you cry.

  • i've never cried so hard to a cartoon in my life...

i want this to air on TV this month.

  • Okay, the "have a merry christmas" was a bit over the top. I could see the Brain ending up with something along the lines of "to... *wanting more to go thank Pinky than make an announcement* uh... enjoy the day. Merry Christmas..."

But still really sweet and touching. :)))

  • OMG, that's so sweet!!!!! I love this show! Never saw this episode as a kid, but that scene alone makes me want to--it made me tear up. So sweet what Pinky did for Brain and how it touched Brain so much; the P.S. part of the letter was the best.

  • @TheaterRaven wow you missed out big time

  • I always lose it when Brain gets to the "PS".

If that scene doesn't make you cry then there's something wrong with your brain.

  • I cried when I was 7-ish or something

  • The one person who disliked this is a complete tool.

    Honestly. What's not to love about this show ; ^ ;

  • That's so touching <:')

    "NARF!!!!"

  • i had to hold back a tear.

  • Awww <33 that's so cute :DD

  • Lol he was so close to world domination

  • what would i give just to see this show once more on the air

  • AAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

  • Awww... :L

  • The Brain sounds so much like Vincent Price, come to think of it all of Maurice LaMarches voices do.

  • @skatejam7 The voice is based on Orson Welles. Price has a more refined, and delicate tone than Brain.

  • @VoiceActorDreamer didja know that they actually did a spoof where Brain actually almost exactally quoted one of Orson's interviews on the radio??? cool huh?

  • When I first saw this it made me cry. And I first saw it when I was FIFTEEN (I live in Sweden, so I didn't see it on TV. I saw it on the internet). Funny, no christmas special of the cartoons that shows today made me cry. *sarcastic* I wonder why.

  • NIGHTMARERH

  • Pinky is such sweet mouse and I love how Brain bursts into tears. This makes me cry.

  • This was made back when cartoons were actually good.

  • i baww'd

  • One of the best cartoon scenes I've ever watched in my life. Very touching.

    We love Pinky!

  • Who's the one person that disliked this?

  • @TheLizzardOh eeeh just a dead guy

  • aww that was so sweet X )

  • cried...

  • naAAAAAaaarf!

  • Wait...are those rotation CGI,3D or imitation of 3D or 2.5D.What ever it is,it looks fucking awesome.

  • I tear up every single time I see Brain get moved by Pinky's letter even when I know what's coming.

  • To my massive dismay, I never grew up with these wonderful cartoons. I was born in 1993 but only ever had 5 channels. By the time I got Sky, I was a little too old to be watching cartoons, which was lucky because all TV had to offer was the purest shit.

I've never watched an episode of 'Pinky and the Brain' in my life, I watch this clip (on it's own, I didn't even watch the rest of the episode), and I cried. This is what people before me grew up with? I feel like my childhood has been robbed.

  • @IIIIIACEIIIII You give me hope.

  • @IIIIIACEIIIII Same here man... i was born in 1996 im sad :( but i watched some episodes from this amazing show

  • I was totally prepared to start sobbing when Brain began to cry :(

  • I'm sobbing-- AND ITS FREAKING AUGUST!!

  • dear santa hello ha ha narf T.T

  • nice cartoons I remember when I was a litle kid in Guatemala watching these cartoons

  • Comment removed

  • I feel your pain, pinky.

  • You know, Pinky wished for Brain to get the world, and was upset that he never delivered the letter to Santa. If he had, then Brain would actually have taken over the world. He was right when he said it was important.

  • I am good friends with Maurice, he's a very cool and generous guy.

  • Pinky are you pondering what im pondering lol

  • This was one of the most heart-warmingly cheesy tings I have every seen

Even years after I've seen it in the late 90s it's still one of my favorite Christmas specials

  • Best cartoons ever, Pinky & The Brain, Pink Panther, Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Superman, Batman,... Now, the new cartoons are really sad!!

I grew up with those old cartoons, and a happy child i was

  • @etshArk87 :) Yesss

  • Comment removed

  • I Cried lol

  • love this :)

  • There was a guy who had uploaded the entire Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain series. His account was suspended before I got around to this one. Most sad.

  • @TheLordmep It was suspended because he violated the site's copyright rules.

  • I cry just about every time I watch this. :'}

  • Today (Yes,today xD) was this ep in the Netherlands.
