  • I love Harris Teeter!!

  • how do you get the door to stay closed? i'm in the process of making something similar to this, wasn't really sure what to do for the bottom, i like your tile idea...

  • @2bubbles4ever I put a latch on it

  • Wouldn't he cchew the zip ties?

  • @Bribricow nope you cut them close enough to the wire, doesnt bother them at all

  • where do u get the wheels from? how'd you get them to stay on the bottom?

  • @MsPuroWag you can get the casters (wheels) from any hardware store or pretty much any place that sells home goods...you drill them into the plywood

  • how much approximately in total did you spend on everything?

  • @afinebitch its in the video...about $40 but I had plywood, few things on hand

  • how did you keep the black caging on the plywood did yhuu bolt it down?

ndd where can i find that caging at ?

  • @prettiboiadam its on with tie straps, drill holes in plywood base and tie strap it. The wire frames can be found at target, home depot, lowes, kmart, walmart, pretty much anywhere

  • Thanks so much Im going to build a rabbit cage like this one! Your so creative! Going to be the best cage ever!

  • Thats so cool1 My parents are getting my vinyle flooring too1 cool, because in the room she stays in, it has carpet.

  • How did you keep the tile down? did you glue it down to the plywood?

  • @mlbeunc24 I used self adhesive tiles...peel the backing off and stick to plywood

  • do the zip ties come with the cubes? or do you have to purchase them seperatley?

  • @mlbeunc24 no you can buy the tie straps almost anywhere...home depot, lowes, ace, target, kmart,

  • @mlbeunc24 you buy the tie straps separately at any hardware store

  • i had trouble finding these so went to the feed store and got a roll of fencing that is bendable and made a sorta of run for my rabbit. then i used a sheet of really heavy blck plastic to keep everything off my rug. my rabbit is messy and it works out good

  • Thats such a nice cage!

  • Nice cage. I have several vids of my cages and hutches on my youtube channel, Oregon Survivalist Group

From cages to hutches to condo's LOL

  • lol my dad made my 4 guinea pigs a big pen because all the pet shop ones were too small! its actually lasted 7 years so far for them, and its just 2 frames of wood in a rectangular shape, with a post in each corner to hold the 2nd one high enough, with chicken mesh in the middle! HOMEMADE THINGS ARE SOO BETTER AND CHEAPER lol xxxx

  • we dont have the wires here..

  • Thanks, I am going to save a lot of money now!!

  • Thaaaaank u soooooo much after I'm getting a rabbit for $60 and the food hay and all the rest buying a cage is to expensive soooooo thanks soooooooooo muchhhh

  • @CourtneyAngel123 glad you found it useful :) enjoy!

  • Thank you so much. You really helped me decide what i want to do! :) I recently got another rabbit and i really want to have a 4x4( in grids ). Im going to do the same thing you have done and do two then attatch them with metal clips screwed into the wood on the outter area so they cant touch it :) Thank you agian :)

  • @OAMCCBC glad you enjoyed :) good luck with yours

  • I think I may borrow a few of your ideas. Like you with your apartment, I have limited space.

  • @ dark boy Thank you. I left a comment on your page.

  • @ todd10560 Thank you, But I found them at Target ($19.99 a box)

  • Thank you so much, Tara. I will try target. I went to home depot and none of the people who worked there knew what I was talking about.

  • @hameedahful try Lowe's

  • Can you please tell me where I can go to buy the grids?

  • @hameedahful target, lowes, home depot, almost anywhere

  • @hameedahful I can understand the frustration because they're almost impossible to find and when you do find them, they're in limited quantities. Here's what I did to get my hands on some ($17.99 for a box that makes up 6 cubes (23 squares)). I went to Sears.com and typed "stor storage cubes" into the search bar. It should be the first link. Use the promo code "sears2011" and that would taken an extra $5 off.

  • @hameedahful Oops, I forgot to mention, the "sears2011" code is only good if it's an order of $50 or more.

  • how big was the cage? and how long and wide was the plywood?

  • @PerryParadiseM i dont remember, it's all in the video. you can make it any size you want as long as the grids fit

  • Wont the rabbit eat whats left of the tie straps after you cut them? it just seems like they would chew that and it'd fall apart.

  • @EverythingStoodStill nope you cut them close and she's never even chewed on them

  • i can't wait to try this out!!

  • i can't wait to try this out!!

  • In the box that the wires came in... was the inner box in the grid all the same size? The ones i saw at target there were half small and half big even though the grid itself was the same size

  • @hannahjane50 yes there are sometimes 2 different sizes...use the bigger holes on top where the rabbit cant access

  • What are dymentions of the base? I want to build one for my flemish giant and people say the cage has to be at least 3ft by 4ft. Do you even think I could build one that size?

  • @Tenorsaxlover18 this was like 4 x 2 or something like that honestly don't remember exact measurements but it's in the video...you can build as big as you want but you need to take into account the size of the grids and determine your size from those

  • Is a rabbit fun to have? Because i am getting a pet and i am thinking about getting a rabbit

  • @xXmemedancerluvXx it requires work and paying attention, clean up, etc.

  • what type of wood was used for the ramps etc?

  • @chantalmm I honestly don't remember...whatever I had laying around at the time....I know some of it was balsam wood, other parts plywood, others who knows....

  • @taraburner Thanks :D

  • I got my carpets at hanks carpets and I ordered about 40 pounds of samples and they were all free cuz they r samples but they are about 2 feet long by 1 foot wide and I ordered stain master ones

  • Comment removed

  • Keep an eye on the tie straps my bunny ate through those

  • @1997xboxgamer if you cut them short enough they cant and i've yet to have any problems with these at all

  • have you considered free range? cages are kinda said, even when they're big. cats and dogs dont get cages

  • @webseth no because of the dogs, but we don't even have edward allison rabbit any more so doesnt matter at this point

  • @webseth I Agree With You. I Would Like To Do Free Range With My Bunny But I Dont Have To Room. And I Dont Have The Money To Bunny Proof My House. But As Often As I Am Home I Have My Bunny Out With Me! :)

  • Nice Job & you explained things nicely. Thanks for sharing!

  • @emtdiver626 glad you enjoyed it

  • I wish i had your skills! :'D xx

  • If you are using wood chips bedding it can actually cause respiratory problems in the future so you might want to look into a paper based bedding.

  • @killerdog12341 that only depends on which type of wood you're using

  • LOL i LOVE your rabbits new cage! but one thing, i CANT STAND having rabbits inside my house! they STINK sooooo bad so my bunny lives in the chicken coop with my chickens now :)

  • how many wire cubes did you used for this rabbit cage total?

  • oh hey i saw you have the white pieces attach to 1 sides of the cage wall, what is that, and where did you get it??

  • @tHeBuNnYcHaNnEl99 those are probably the zipties you're seeing

  • Put plexi-glass around the base-that'll help with the food spills

  • @shanski2011 I never had issue with my rabbit and food spilling anyhwere

  • where did you get your second floor ramps and the loft??

  • @tHeBuNnYcHaNnEl99 I built them, they're made out of pieces of plywood and the ramp is just a piece of wood hinged to the top part with door hinges

  • @taraburner you attach them with super glue?

  • @tHeBuNnYcHaNnEl99 no everything is screwed in

  • @taraburner and attach them together with what?

  • @tHeBuNnYcHaNnEl99 you attach wood pieces for ramp and level with screws and then ziptie level to perimeter of cage so you can easily remove it and yet it doesnt move around when rabbit is using

  • you need a coroplast sheet so his food cant go to the floor

  • @tHeBuNnYcHaNnEl99 you can also put balsam wood around the edging at the base

  • @taraburner right thank you

  • your video was so helpful. my 2 bunnies are happier with much bigger space. :)

  • @yimmieheehee glad to hear it :)

  • where do you get the tiles? costco? target?

  • @TheGuineaPigHelp1 lowe's, home depot, hardware store has the tiles

  • Comment removed

  • @TheGuineaPigHelp1 I got mine from Walmart. The only problem I ran into is that my rabbit is VERY heavy. The connectors that came with it helped me out alot. I used the connectors AND zip ties so it made it so much more sturdy for me. I built an extra level for my bunny but it sunk in bcuz he's so fat. I would suggest for a hefty bunny to reinforce the top layer so it'll last longer for you.

  • HI i was wondering how you got the walls to stay connected to the floor

    so it didnt slide off

    THANK U.

  • @Ferret13Luver they are tie strapped....drill holes in plywood and then when putting the grid walls up tie strap them thru the plywood floor

  • Cool very nice when I get my rabbets(in a few days) I will make that but maybe bigger I'm getting 4 baby rabbits I hope they love it GREAT JOB!!!!:)

  • @petlover0505 enjoy :)

  • Thanks for being a good bunny mom to Edward! This cage is a great idea and will help out the parents of house rabbits! BRAVO!

  • I ran into the exact same problem with some of the grids being too wide and little bunnies making covert escapes. Great hutch though. I like the casters on plywood idea , save on the carpeting.

  • @pipingkid use mesh over the grids that have wider openings and then they can't get out...or make sure the wider opening grids are on the very top so they can't reach/squeeze through :) and yes the casters...save the carpet/floor beneath plus make it easy to move around

  • How much are the tiles for the cage?

  • @TheMTCSN I had the tiles on hand so dont know, most likely if you get them at lowe's, home depot type of places maybe $1+ each?

  • That is sooo AWESOME!!! And for that price is great!

  • you should get a gravity bin feeder

  • liar!... check for the price at target is 45.00 each box!!

  • @BATMEX44 not a liar...over a year ago when I got them they were like $15-20 there's this thing called inflation and it's been over a year!

  • @BATMEX44 You're an idiot. Target has a higher markup than other places. If you search online, several places will have different prices. I built my rabbit's cage from these same cubes that I got from walmart and they cost me $20. I got 2 sets and had plenty left over!! You shouldn't be so rude. If you just type storage cubes into Google you might come up with different prices but that doesn't mean you can just blatantly call people liars. She doesn't make the product or control the prices.

  • that is so cool, people would easily pay a few hundred for a cage that large!!!

  • Wood chips are not good as litter. I heard it is unhealthy for them. A lot of professionals recommend the Carefresh paper bedding for odor control and the health of your rabbit.

  • Very nice Im impressed. Well engineered out of readily available items.

  • @nontrashfire Thanks :)

  • nice XD

  • I purchased online storage bins @Target (I haven't received it yet.) to make a setup similar to yours but my main concern is will it be sturdy enough for my mini lop Mocha....Even with connectors & zipties I'm still worried that it will fall on top if she pulls on it with her teeth...she's strong..=;)

  • @MiniMochaLop if you do them tight enough then its fine, this one has been together for over a year and no issues w/full grown rabbit bouncing all over and cage being transported as well

  • @taraburner instead of metal squares can i use storage cubes instead?

  • where can you buy grid ??

  • @nanpaa at any hardware store, target, kmart, walmart, any home goods store

  • @taraburner how many black wire storage did you use ?

  • @bxzel0915 2

  • nice cage.. im making one for my 2 bunnies now. just cant wait till its all done.

    nice vid

  • @ShinesKitten great, sure your bunnies will enjoy :)

  • Nice set up :)

  • how did you make the shelf in the cage im needing to make my ferret one but have no ideal how lol thanks and nice cage

  • Great video! I'd love to do this for my rabbit (I feel so bad, him only having that tiny cage, and I'd like to put his litter box in as well), but sadly, unless either I moved out or my bedroom grew in size, I don't know how well the cage would fit. =(

Fantastic video though, I like how you went through the steps, and it seems pretty simple to make. I favorited the video!

  • @BeautifyByFayleke glad you liked..you can make it smaller too

  • Comment removed

  • Just wondering where you got the green mesh? I built this cage also, but all the hay falls out this sides onto the floor! Thanks :)

  • @Aclapple you can get it at any hardware or gardening shop.

or you can put thin pieces of wood along edges at bottom if rabbit's throwing hay out

  • how mutch did this cost you ? I might get a flemish giant in january and any help you can give me is greatly apperciated

    also your rabbit very cute

  • @AberashTigeress it depends on what you have on hand and your location as to price

  • I AM GETTING A RABBIT!!!!!!!!

  • I see a 9 month comment. Any hind sight changes you would make if doing it now? Did the tie straps keep it together well?

  • @7blood0 nope I'd do everything the same...and yep zip ties are still fine

  • this is so awesome! im a subscriber for sure!!!!!!

  • WHere did you get teh throw toys? and he doesnt nibble the tie strips?

  • @assirem16 toys-pet store and nope he doesnt eat or chew on the cage or straps

  • can you send me a list with all the supplies needed to complete this please? i would also appreciate if you could send me the total cost...i need to make a cage like this for my mini rex...even the largest storebought cages are too small...great job on the cage btw! edward and chico are the best!!!thanks for any help!

  • I see that he is litter trained. any secrets on getting my bunny to do the same? I've tried picking up all there poops and scooping up the litter with their urine and putting into the litter pan in hopes that they would get the idea but they (both toby and pancakes :]) still don't get it. hahaha

  • @dragonflynurse he was raised going in litter box so not sure how to help you out there

  • Comment removed

  • Whats the easiest way to clean this?

  • @clubpenguin689 depends...my rabbit went in litter box so nothing to 'clean'

occasionally wipe down the tiles w/wet rag other than that nothing to clean

  • @taraburner thank you!

  • Hahahahaha Chico is my new hero.

    Great job btw.

  • @Fuzfuu LOL to chico and thanx

  • Do you think i could use this as a rat cage? and how much did all of it cost you?

  • @xxhellokittyyyxx i guess if you put something over the holes otherwise they'd get out

price depends on what you already have on hand and your local costs of things

the wiring is only about $20, the tiles I used were like $1 each, already had the plywood and other wood for the different levels and ramp and already had the tiestraps/zipties

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • where do you buy the wire cage stuff???? how much did all of this cost together>

  • @NatCat1997 at a target, kmart, lowes, home depot and it all depends on what materials you have already and where you get the others. the wiring is only about $20, the tiles I used were like $1 each, already had the plywood and other wood for the different levels and ramp and already had the tiestraps/zipties

  • where do you buy the wire cage stuff????

  • hey amazing cage, im trying to find out where i can buy the cube things you use to make the cage...like i cant find it anywhere in ireland lmao :P btw vinal tile, is there any other thing i can use? and the wood, how can i messure it all out? like messuring tape, and all?

  • How has this cage held up? Does he eat through the zip ties at all?

  • @itsjusthen cage is same as it was day I made it, and nope she doesnt even chew the zip ties --- she has toys to chew so never even thinks about chewing cage

  • Great bunny condo!! I made one too and I think I used the same tiles.

  • how do u keep the upper part so stable at 4:09? mine keeps on folding down

  • @atixheli make sure the zip ties are tight and everything lines up and it stays just fine

  • @taraburner Thx anyways. tday i found out that you can use the tie straps and the included connector toghether

  • yeah but i want to build it like that sorry if im sounding like a jerk or something

  • could you mabey tell us how to make the inside? id very much apreciate it

  • @JBC7017 you can do the inside any way you want to

  • so all in all wich things do you have to buy

  • @JBC7017 whatever you dont have on hand is what you'll have to buy, watch the video, everythings discussed on what you'll need

  • Thank you

  • If you want rabbit cage ideas, check out my channel, I have an original, homemade cage that's easy to make :)

    <<<-----

  • if you'll buy another rabbit name it "bella"

    LOL jk jk...

    THANKS FOR SHARING

  • @0ojo01 thats actually where "edward' came from... lol..Twilight :)

  • @taraburner aww ... loooool..!! <3

  • where did you buy his toys & what do you use for litter. i have a flemish giant rabbit and i am thinking about doing something like this.

  • i have a black lab and it catches rabbits and birds outside. ive had my rabbit for 2 days and my dog doesn't know. bunny is 11 weeks and my dog 7 years. how do i introduce them?

  • @justadude95 LOL I used to do roofing, demo work, road construction as well

  • About how much did it cost to make the cage in all?I love it btw :)

  • Thank you!!! This is so helpful because I am considering getting a rabbit to keep me company! Again thank you!!!

  • wow thats amazing!

  • Amazin amazin amazin. 5/5

But is the cage strong enough for outdoor use?

  • @DDALKKUK8 yes you can use outside as well though I prefer not having rabbits exposed to the elements so you'd probably want to make part of this 'closed in' so rabbit wouldnt be exposed all the time to sun, rain, snow, whatever

  • I have dogs, can I still have rabbits. Will the dogs eat the rabbits? I don't want those cuddly soft animals to get hurt.

  • @iukjpl depends on the dogs and so many other things. If the rabbit is in the cage, the dogs cant get to it. I have 4 dogs and none of them bothered the rabbit in or out of the cage but it all depends on your dogs temperment/personality/etc.

  • @iukjpl

i had two rabbits 1 named salt and the other one pepper

and a had a really mean dog and he freakin ate salt ^_^

the next day i found salt ripped up to shreds and all the fur on the floor

  • Very good cage! This can probably help me make a inexpensive rabbit house for my lionhead bunny, Sofie. For my b day im hoping to get a male so they could have little bunnies. I would have to put some mesh like you did, on the edges of the cage so the babies stay in. thank you for posting the video! Big help :)

  • I really need to make something like that for my bunny!
