The four characters are great together. They make up the show. That's Poirot, Hastings, Japp and Miss Lemon. Also, only one cop? Come on! Oh well it is out in the country.
@andrewbyrdful - I sometimes have a problem with how the actual stories have to be rewritten for TV, but I do so love Poirot, Japp and Hastings working together. Lots of the Marples are drastically changed, too, and so many of the original stories don't even feature her, but again, I love these shows so much I try to forgive the writers. ;-)

Yeah, The show just isn't the same without Japp and Hastings in it. Just like Sherlock Holmes without Watson and Lestrade.

In the book, Poirot doesn't go to Hunter's Lodge in the first place. He stays sick in London and sends Hastings in his place.
