  • It sounds as though they had to get the song done with before they missed the last bus home. This song is owned by Bobby Vee.

  • Paul and John were better singers, but George did have a nice harmony.

  • I don't like Bobby Vee's version. His voice is too pretentious... I would never be able to feel the song if weren't for this version, which I *REALLY* like.

  • thumbs up if you like every song by the beatles!

  • @ToProtectAndServeABP Notice how you have no thumbs up? That should teach you to STOP begging for thumbs up! -.-"

  • @xKarolyneWasHere thumbs up if you think this girls a bitch : )

  • @ToProtectAndServeABP Aww, I love you too. :-)

  • Pete Best has hard times keeping up the tough tempo in the 4/4 hi-hat format; he probably handn't much choice in his repetoire. Nonetheless, he sounds like a competent drummer and he could have improved during the way up. What is most remarkable is that they didn't get signed on account of this auditon - they are in their full Please please me form. The question is of course if the world would have been ready for this intimate but raw sound in early 1962. Perhaps not. We will never know.

  • @MrNitram6 Personally, I like best Dion's version, probably because I discovered his album Runaround Sue in my buddy's mum's 50's LP collection in much a mystified way. George is heartfelt but quite a boy compared to Dion's mundane deliverance.

  • @MrNitram6 Improve did for example Michael Clarke of the Byrds, and it would have probably been the way for Pete Best too. Perhaps the Beatles liked the Byrds because their voices and drumming sounded so much like what the Beatles was and what they used to be. And they all had Rickenbackers :)

  • @kingofallwhites yeah I know, but I still don't agree with it.

  • @kingofallwhites I agree!

  • @kingofallwhites yes! Pete forever!!! )) i agreeeeeeeee !

  • @kingofallwhites Yeah...I respectfully disagree...Just watch I'm Gonna sit right down and cry over you from the bbc sessions and tell me you feel the same way

  • GEORGE SHOULD'VE SANG MORE SONGS WITH THE BEATLES!!

  • @historiadorderock If I needed Someone was a great one.....john and paul great harmony

  • LGUM LGHOPJNGKKPYMKVJPÑMNKP7PNKPUU MKJOHNOJLYUJPMKJPJKY`'LKP

  • Omg... *PETE

  • was this released on any of the anthology albums?

  • George died about a month after my 4th bday, and 2 days before my dad died. I just wish I were born in a different time. I love you always and forever Georgie!

  • Wow. This is George, He could have soloed in more than just those he wrote,

  • @imagineers101 he did: everybody's trying to be my baby, i'm happy just to dance with you, chains, and this one! :P

  • @TheBuddyboy15 You forgot Do You Wanna Hear a Secret, Taxman, While My Guitar, Something, Here Comes the Sun, etc

  • @kingofallwhites i wasn't in the mood for listing all songs sung by GH, was just proving a point :P

  • @TheBuddyboy15 yes, but once the beatles hit it big in 1964 they did not let George do much. Any songs he was allowed to record were done as an occassional obligitory chore by L&M and george martin. It wasn't till nearly the break-up of the group that Lennon & McCartney acknowledged that his tunes were getting really good

  • love this version :) also - great pictures ! wow, lovely (and old!) ones you got there !

  • Sometimes I cry listening to these songs because of the memories behind the song... Aww. I miss John & George. I miss those happy moments

  • As I listen to this, I realize as good as Pete was, his style was too "busy" for the sound. Ringo gave them a more simplistic beat--which then in turn forced the other three to improve. A marvelous history lesson, as sad as the outcome was for Pete.

  • What a lovely, very Liverpudlian interpretation of this classic. Very beautiful.

  • George Martin said that the Beatles didnt want to put How Do You Do It out and they put Please Please Me instead....

  • @guitarpower1000 You emailed me saying, "George Martin even said thye put Please Please Me instead......:P." You are misinformed. Correct, they did want to put it out, but Martin didn't feel it was ready at this point and sent them to work on it so that it only came out some 9 weeks after they played it to him.

As for your misquote of Martin, I suggest that in future you cite a source to give you some credibility. As I've already said, if you are interested in this period, read Macdonald's book.

  • GEORGIE!!!! :3 ^_^ <3333

  • wheres? 2:23?

  • When George died I was heartbroken, gone too young. The Beatles were a phenomenal group.

  • i love you George. you will be missed, such amazing talent. hare krshna!

  • i LOVE THIS SONG AND I LOVE THE BEATLES!!! put the two together = FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!

  • My mom doesnt like the Beatles.......WHAT!?

  • why this song makes me wanted to listen everyday

    please god,send back my Georgy

  • I've always liked George the most, people overlook him so much just cause he wasn't Lennon or McCartney, this is just one of the songs that prove he was just as good, if not better than them, even if he didn't write it. Love you George <3

  • pete best is better than ringo?do you thought what i thought?

  • played at my friends baby girls funeral today, it makes me cry, what a lovely song xxx

  • @IanRideout1640 she lost her baby girl? =( tragic

  • whoa....slow that down boys...oh I forgot they are the Beatles.

  • For so long I overlooked George, but when I listen to songs like this, and his solo work, I realise how amazing he really was <3

  • i'm a beatles fan but Bobby Vee's version is better :P

  • why am i crying?!

But I prefer it a bit later (love me do etc)

OH WHO CARES?!? they're just Amazing

  • Awweh Georgey!!!!!!!!

  • The Beatles rendition of this song is pretty good the tempo is quicker than that of Bobby Vee's.

  • I always had a soft spot for George; never heard this before but LOVE it almost as much ( but not quite!) as Bobby Vee's version.

Thank you spiduction ... and all the other people who post my teen years in music :-)

  • I like Bobby Vee's one better, but everybody has their own opinion.

  • I can't stop listening to this.

  • aw george <33333333

  • aw george <3

  • I love this song! His voice is so adorable. :D

  • WOW! I'd never heard this before! I had no idea they'd done a cover of this tune! Wow! Theirs may be the fastest tempo version, ever. Is that George doing the main voice?

  • @lancethrustworthy It is.

  • :) this is such a sweet version of this song... bobby vee's is the original right? i like his more but i love the beatles more in general :P

  • I have never heard this before and it sounds so simple and sweet. I once fell in love with The Smokie's version of this song. Now - thanks to Youtube - it's possible to find out such a lot about it. Kocham The Beatles miłością bezwarunkową od kiedy pamiętam. Dziękuję Spiduction65.

  • He is adorable :)

  • this is a good version, but i prefer bobby vee's original

  • :((( Love it.\

    Makes me sad.

    I love them though! :D <3

  • ..How I love them. :) <3

  • They could make reading the phone book at #1 hit.

  • Wow how did u even get this rare footage

  • this song makes me cry! i love george so much the world misses him! x

  • Very good version.

This song was not as good as their great recordings they made pre 1966, but much better then all their later Capitol releases and all their Apple releases, when the drugs sadly made them lose their incomparable greatness!

  • @allaboutrecords wut? drugs made them even moar better nig

  • another great song by the beatles !

  • George...You will never be forgotten. You are beautiful in every way.

  • Cool.

  • 1:33 ringo had a hot beard

  • @JazzyD97

    No love for paulie baby?

  • what album is this?

  • @bofets Ce n'est sur aucun album , ce sont juste les Decca Audition ;) .

  • @Croqueurdefevesoff thankyou very much

  • Nice harmony by Paul. I dunno why he decided to team up with George for this number, but it's a nice job.

  • Bobby Vee took this to #1 in 1961.

  • aww 19 year old george's voice is cuuutee!!!

  • There's nothing that I gotta say... Well this is just... George. He's simply marvellous.

  • i usually don't like covers of oldie songs, but in this case, the cover is almost better.

  • @TheGidgetinator I have to agree, I usually don't like covers at all. Just seems The Beatles could work magic on anything.

  • Those guys from Decca lost out on something SPECIAL..... George is indeed Great here....

  • this is not the beatles singing

  • @jeffboka Of course it is. It's George singing. His voice sounds magical in this and to me, the original doesn't compare.

  • @jeffboka yeah it is its george

  • I prefer the original .

  • Where'd you get all these photos? I'd like to know, because these photos are great!

  • I HAVE A PICTURE OF GEOREGE HARRISON IN MY FRIDGE BITCHES! HE'S MINE!

  • @9paperbackwriter Dude like shut up.:\ He is mine.(:

  • great song but Bobby vee's has more emotion.

  • george did a great job with the vocals in this one!

  • Ahhhh George....you're my favorite.

  • WHY DIDN'T GEORGE SING MORE IN THE BEATLES!!!!!

    I LOVE GEORGE

  • @NathanM228 probably because George Martin wouldnt allow it your forgeting he was looking for number ones thats why he didnt give them How do you do it. But yeah this is a great cover version of this song :)

  • @kenco124 Wrong. He did give them How do you do it? but they were unhappy with having to do it. They insisted upon Love Me Do instead. Martin agreed to let them release it. How different pop would be today were it not for that moment.

As for the singing, I doubt it's that. It's more likely: a) George had a smaller range b) he was the 'quiet one' and Lennon McCartney had no issues putting themselves forward c) they wrote the vast majority of songs and each member tended to sing their own songs.

  • @jcb21691 Actually, They put Please Please me, if yu dont believe me go watch the beatles anthology.......

  • @guitarpower1000 You are incorrect. I refer you to Ian MacDonald's excellent book "Revolution in the Head." Well worth a read.

  • Decca Exec Dick Rowe:

  • I love the Beatles, but no one does this song like Bobby Vee.

  • @TheSammyKaye Gonna have to agree with you on that one this is a great cover but Bobby Vee has this song on lock

  • 7 people did not take care of their babies.

  • @AJaintedMan hahahaha

  • @AJaintedMan I didn't take care of my baby, and I enjoy this song. Now she's left me and I still want her but I know she deserves a better man than I ever could be.

  • @AJaintedMan make that 11

  • Beatles are always the best group that ever existed

  • Elmar78: My understanding is that this is from a Decca Records audition tape, not a live recording.

As for the backing vocals, I hear only George. I could be wrong, of course, but I do not hear Paul.

  • 7 people thought the button said, "dis i like."

  • @ukidinme2010 ahaha you're right

  • Lovely, sweet, amazing George!!!

  • I like everything about Ringo. I'm sorry Pete lost his job with The Beatles but Ringo is a much better fit all around. His looks, personality, voice AND especially his drumming.
