What politician isn't cheesy and corrupt? the difference was that Teddy got caught. Every politician out there does things that we have no clue and would all get put in jail for. What makes Teddy such an outstanding individual was that he took the blame for his mistakes and kept on fighting for the values that his family really did stand for (yes mayofour the i am saying the kennedy's weren't all built upon lies, in fact Bobby was probably the nicest man to ever hold office.)
Drunken bum, philanderer, and career politician who got blacks and other minorities to keep voting for 48 years just so he could reelected over and over and over again. Nevertheless, Ted Kennedy will sorely be missed by friend and foe alike, an important figure in American political life.
Here we are 32 years later and we still don't have National Health Insurance for everyone. What little the modest Obama plan did towards that is attacked visciously. We need Single Payer healthcare where everyone is in the same boat. Per capita we spend 40% more for healthcare in America than in other industrialized countries and still not everyone is covered. ..... Healthcare is still the # 1 cause of bankruptcy in the USA. It is not right.
Members of Congress get the best Health Care in the World because they have the power at Tax Payers expense to make it happen for themselves. Power that no one else has.
Fat Uncle Teddy is the only reason govt run health care wasn't passed in the 70's. This attention whore/failure/weakest Kennedy link blocked Jimmy Carter's health care bill in the 1970's when Demos had total control just because he didn't want Jimmy Carter to get credit for it. Says Jimmuh carter this week in an interview on 60 Minutes.
Fat, immoral, jealous, bloated failure and idiot. Watch clips of his run for president if you really want laughs.
There is always a quote from some source that will support whatever argument whose point you want to make. The key is to find a way to say something that is totally unique to you and still make sense. -- Pete 8/17/10.
@dunkelfier Grow up. Look at what he did for millions of people as a Senator after that tragic accident. Yes, he was responsible and didn't handle it as well as he could have but man, what a Senator he was. As a citizen of MA, I know.
The problem with Socialism is that, eventually, you run out of other people's money. -Margaret Thatcher
You morons celebrating nationalized health care should remember that. Wise words, and inescapable. But you can't see past the 'feel good' aspect of this. That is why you are morons. Short-sighted morons. (I said that as nicely as I could)
@TallRingo Sad pitifull little mule. You will be used by whomever chooses to use you throughout your life. We will help you as much as we can, but pity you none the less.
Just as those people back in 61' voted against and thaught medicare would bring STALINISM and COMUNISM into the U.S.
they are making crazy assumptions now. and it's funny how those people who were so aggainst it then are benefitting from it now. REPUBLICANS you have been served. Good day to us all.
In the future, it's going to become increasingly apparent that everyone won today - right and left, Democrat and Republican. Every American is a winner when we take care of all of us.
I'm so happy for the Americans and for President Obama! :) EVERYONE deserves decent health care, not only those who can afford it. EVERYONE'S life is worth living, not only those who have a lot of money! Well done and I think Ted Kennedy would have been more than proud of the result! :)

Wow - too bad the irony is that it was the Democrats that showed their allegiance to the corporations today. The Republicans just argued against their own plan because the Democrats were pushing it. Sadness. I'm changing my screenname to SUCKER.
Imagine if every elected official with such personal wealth sought to ensure that every citizen received one particular benefit - health care. Imagine how many have died because they lacked it.
Edward M. Kennedy was great man with a great mission. He didn't have to give a shit about people like me without health coverage but he did! We need more like him!!
@Mayofour What a rotten drunk, murdering, cheating adultering spoiled rotten bastard who never had a job. Hell is too good for this low life piece of crap. Now his drug addict son 'Patches' is getting out of our hair. I know you who share the same IQ with this low-life prick 27 would like him if he raped Mother Teresa. Thank God Joe Kennedy's ill gotten millions have no more of these drunks to shove down the American throat.
@Mayofour Mary Jo Kopechne could have used that health care as Kennedy was letting her drowned slowly in an air pocket of the car he crashed off of a Chappaquiddick bridge. I love the way this cheesy commie loving politician (Yes "commie loving" check his FBI FIOA file) pretends to be sympathetic to the average man when his entire family was built upon lies and back room deals/corruption without a single Kennedy exempt. He is the only man in the world who could buy his way out of drunken murder.
lallapaloossa.. Class, dude. Very, very classy. You strike me as a man to have a conversation with.
You're exhibit A of the hour for why after 20 years as an Independent mostly leaning Republican, I'll finally be registering Democrat. But don't let it get to your head.. As soon as I turn on the tv this afternoon, there will almost certainly be another hateful illiterate jackass spouting stupidity to re-confirm me in my decision.
I was a lifelong Republican too. I was finally too embarrassed... humiliated... after Bush/Cheney. I'm delighted to finally be in a party that gives a damn about our Constitution... and humanity. I'm also tired of "tolerating" Republicans. They'd rather I die so to Hell with them!!
I have lived in Britain, Canada, & now in the US. The health care system in this country is a JOKE! It is a multi-trillion dollar industry run by crooks. And for those of you who have only ever lived here and are brainwashed by those same crooks, I ask you to look outside the US for once. Not everything here is perfect and it really is ok to think that MAYBE other countries just might have a better system!! That is NOT unconstitutional, or unpatriotic! It's common sense.
This creature declare or grant rights and priveledges are something the people grant him.you are born with Unalianable rights that cannot be taken as they come from a creator. The job of government is to protect those rights, your job is to protect those rights.Everything else is BS lies and the incompetance of humanity in giving away those rights.Wake up,grow up and see the BS and remove it or say you like the boot in your face. You are like animals who can be thrown into a cage. For no reason.FTW
Jasonmto, you love America so much that makes you "Right" huh?! LOL HATERS hate, I congradulate Ted Kenndey's work & hope for his country he loved more than you. He is great; as you misquote, believe lies & r a HATER! Heres some of my own words- "The difference between a Republican and a tick is that a tick won't put on a suit and become a self-proclaimed know-it-all-know nothing, its honest about suckin' you dry!" I will win this argument again with my own words not a poor actor's, HATER!
Jasonmto, stop clouding the truth w/ ur HATE Sir! Very poor argument of equivocation again!!! What the score now ur 0 for my 2. Quite using the word "RIGHT" to uphold you poor arguments. You have shifted your argument from where is that "RIGHT" in the constitution to the "RIGHTS of aborted chidlren born alive! NO such protection act our President voted against too. My father is a labor& delivery doctor and a full term abortion CAN NOT be born ALIVE unless you could perform miracles like Jesus.
By no means am I minimizing her death. It was obviously a tragedy. But the fact that you know so much about this event is a clear indicator that americans have held this against Ted Kennedy even beyond his death. Chappaquiddick was far from what he stood for, but for people like you, it was he's best known for.
Jasonmto, the U.S. Constitution or the Bill of rights don't have sections that tells you when & how to inhale or exhale either, BREATHING IS A RIGHT TOO, NOT A PRIVILEGE! Maybe if u stop HATIN' and remove the false facts and beliefs your so attach to you would realize the rights of U.S. Constitution and the rights of a Nation to its people are two separate issues. That quote, relates to Bush & Dick Cheney! Stop Hatin' & misquoting people, you demonstrate Hater behavior all to well. I DON'T!
I hear what you're saying but my mom, all her life, ate healthy, was never heavy, always exercised her whole life, never smoked and would only have a glass of wine occationally, saw her doctor regularly but she still contracted cancer. You can't paint that broad a brush as you just did. These things happen
Give me a break. That was one large mistake, yes, but it has overshadowed a lot of his political careers and the many achievements within. And he clearly regretted it.
OH PLEASE, Healthcare is a matter of right not of privilege for all Americans. Just watch, his death WILL make heathcare reform a reality for Americans.
