@SIapChop Modern shooters = auto regen health, perks, and unbalanced play. Quake, although lots of jumping around like "space monkeys", is about the most balanced FPS you will ever have. Play a game of Clan Arena, where all weapons, health, and armor are already given to you, and the only thing that is holding you back is your own skill - you will fail if you play modern shooters. I like my COD and BF3, but Quake stresses me on a whole different level.

@MegaAshbourne Well on public servers, TDM usually ends up with one dominate player carrying a team and winning by about 50. I do agree that in a high-level duel, it's going to show who knows the map and resources, and how to time and utilize them.

@supraboytt I'm sure I've played the series far longer than you have and thus have a much larger knowledge of how ID kept simplifying the game over and over again. It took Raven taking over the series to give Quake a decent mplayer component again.
@supraboytt Getting frags in Qlive isn't difficult. The simplified movement makes it the most predictable game in ther series and also makes aiming much much easier. I'd love to duel you so you can see that the game has been noobed down dramatically.

@danteconradie0 played it since the first day of beta and finaly gave up because the game is filled with overcrowded servers where skills dont matter cause its litteraly dense with enemies you just spray and pray. at fisrt i was enthusiastic but since they didnt implement servers with 2-3 times less slots i gave up on it. theres no fun when playing against quitters or starting a nice 3 -4 player matches to have 16 ppl crowd before they end ruining the fun
@legendarywar1 yea some people got trouble with more than 1 fiering mode and more than 1 jumping mode and characters that dont gain momentum like they were ice skaters. to those people we say : youre wrong :P unreal is superior to quake both in gameplay, level of polish and graphics. except ut3 which gameplay is worse than other unreals. still its better than quake. and i know what im speaking i played both games for atleast 2 years so i kinda know better :P you propably played unreal a day or 2

Good to see some skill in the terney, too many n00bs these days. My guild won a match on BR Colosus, scores 21/18, close match, I scored 2 goals, blood everywhere, pros only, but we did it!

Fatal1ty WAS the best in Quake III Arena and that was his dominion... so no need arguing as we are speaking in past tense... nowdays stermy is probably one of the best or maybe the best player on QL and Q4 but still there are so many extremely good players....
If by "minor" you mean that about a sixth of all potential players are experiencing a game-breaking bug that keeps you from playing an online match against real people...I have this glitch, I can only play practice and training center matches. It sucks :(

yea the individual skill level for quake in an fps game is unmatched. and any1 who tries to argue against it i would say is wrong. but game like cs and tf2 take a reasonable amount of individual skill and ontop of the tight teamwork, so all in all they kind of balance out.
i guess "balance out" makes sense but i would say that they are similar in that they are fps and in very few other ways are similar, cuz... why am i arguing? quake series is an individual game and CS is a team game... never played tf though i might give it a shot ;)

quake 3 was my best game ever played.i liked a lot the 3rd quake,but i wonder still why this game wasn't based like the other ones - singleplayer with monsters,missions & other things.

lame to all of u ppl saying he sucks. he's just one of a kind that managed to make out of his favorite hobby his profession, in a world thats still so damn underground and that in the past few months has been goin always worse. At least ppl like him promote professional gameing. Oh there are so many better then him? so thats why he earned almost 500k $ by winning tournaments and the others didnt.

Fatal1ty WAS the best in Quake III Arena and that was his dominion... so no need arguing as we are speaking in past tense... nowdays stermy is probably one of the best or maybe the best player on QL and Q4 but still there are so many extremely good players....

Quake Live is first of all for free, availible for everyone, prety much everywhere you are (all you need is a basic PC with a web browser).
Secondly its still in beta, and only has a few MINOR issues, a bit of tweaking in the net code, hitbox needs correcting a tiny bit and its good.
The physics are excellent, the whole profile/skill level system is great, i love every minute of it.

If by "minor" you mean that about a sixth of all potential players are experiencing a game-breaking bug that keeps you from playing an online match against real people...I have this glitch, I can only play practice and training center matches. It sucks :(
there's a thread about it on the tech support forum that has FOURTY PAGES of complaints, and NO MOD HAS YET ANSWERED IT. I mean...WTF.

faketal1ty sucks. all the rankers on quakelive have way higher score & eff than he does.. hes overrated with lots of money but truthfully hes avg compared to the rest of the rankers.. he tried to run and hide for 8 mins and socrates owned him.. vo0 owned him too

no offense but fatal1ty sucks.. he would jump into a game and within the first 30 seconds score up 15 kills then run around for the remaining 8 mins just to win.. and in the past ESWC games he failed horribly.. if he thinks playing at AGPtour is gonna make things better for him he already lost.. SK gaming would eat that guy for dinner

All I have to say is: get a fucking life you stupid, moronic, ignorant, no-talent disrespectful, ignorant haters! fatal1ty is one of the best on the PLANET and you think you could beat him? He plays the fastest PC FPS games on the planet: the Quake series. CoD and CS are much slower than Quake, and require less reflexes. I'm trying to say that Quake takes more skill and more time to master than any other FPS game out there! But don't hate on me cuz I'm no pro at any of them

yea the individual skill level for quake in an fps game is unmatched. and any1 who tries to argue against it i would say is wrong. but game like cs and tf2 take a reasonable amount of individual skill and ontop of the tight teamwork, so all in all they kind of balance out.
