  • Humm, Such a nice thing to say!

    Thank you, Margie

  • your the best .. .so much passion.

  • Interesting, Washing the balloons is fine.

    Thanks for the comment.

    Margie

  • Do you clean the balloons before hand? I just imagine the chocolate tasting like rubber. Or does it not pick up the rubber taste?

  • All that I can think is that the chocolate was too hot.

If you are using the wafers...The chocolate should be just warm to the touch. No warmer

  • I made these but as soon as i would put them on the tray to set, the balloons popped. Help

  • Candy bars need to be tempered.

Go to the regular grocery store and in the produce section or a crafts store that sells Wilton supplies, there you will fine the best type of chocolate to use for this.

    Chocolate wafers.

    Margie

  • What kind of chocolate can I use ?? Can I use any normal candy bar ? Or it has to be a specific chocolate ?

  • That is the only thing I can think of that might pop the balloons:

Too warm chocolate and maybe to tight balloons.

Mine have never popped...I hate to say that.but...

  • Yep, my balloons popped too... of course... I didn't follow directions either... smh.

  • I'm going to try this tomorrow let's hope it goes well lol

  • Are you being careful about melting the chocolate.

The chocolate should not be hot, it should be only slightly warm to the touch?

    Margie

  • i failed at this, after i dipped the balloons and put them on a tray, they POPPED!! chocolate went EVERYWHERE and wow... what a mess. also, about an hour later, i poked a hole in the 2 that didnt pop, and they went out slowly, but then all the chocolate peeled off!! ANOTHER FAIL. so all i had was about half a bowl out of 10 tries. makebe it was just me... i dont know, but i dont recommend these unless you have time

  • Thank you for the very nice comment.

    I appreciate the support.

    Margie

  • YOUR THE BEST ! 3384 brutal snakkers !

  • OMG, I am so sorry that, that happened!!!

    Margie

  • Thank you, that is a very nice thing to say!

    Margie

  • Haven't noticed that. Maybe if that is a concern, first wash the balloons before dipping.

    That might make a difference.

    Margie

  • I said that because you a clearly an awesome grandma!

  • Would the bowl taste like balloon. That sounds really silly but will it? :)

  • @dottiepaintball I understand what you mean. You're wondering if the chocolate will have a latex aftertaste from being on the balloon. I would say wash the balloons before blowing them up to clean them and that would probably prevent that. I've done a project like this before and I washed the ballons first. :D

  • Mine popped

  • That's really funny.

    Why do you say that?

    Margie

  • @bennybianco7 u kno Wat? Don't do that

  • Grandma level 732472389150783904321

  • @bennybianco7 try melting chocolate chips instead of chocolate

  • No, the balloons are fine, no spray necessary.

The chocolate may not like the oil and fall down the balloon.

    Thanks for the question.

    Margie

  • This is great! I'm going to use this to serve pudding in. Can you spray the balloons with nonstick spray before dipping them?

  • Cool

  • Having a Hard time with my melted chocolate i have tryed 3 time and still it won't harden in the fringe..... i have watered the melting chocolate and made it smooth but i think i did something wrong the chocolate just drips all the way to the bottom please help me out?

  • @bennybianco7 maybe it isn't freezing choclate or leave it in longer.

  • soooo cute!

  • This is so funny and cute. I'm not that creative. First time I see this.

  • Thank you very much!

What did you use them for?

    Margie

  • aww you're so sweet. I tried it and its SOO yummy <3

  • wow thats looks good :P

  • AWESOME!!

  • Humm!

    Thanks for the compliment.

    Margie

  • You're you sweet! Love the way you talk and laugh, haha.

Thanks for the idea, definetely will be making it this christmas!

  • I WILL JUST EAT IT

  • What type of chocolate did you use?

  • How long were they left in the fridge?

  • Do you mean to cool enough to remove the balloon? In a cool room probably 1/2 hour.

Or do you mean what is the shelf life? Keep chocolate in a cool area and well covered for weeks even longer

  • how long could u leave the bowls outside on the counter top

  • Ice cream is probably the best idea with fudge sauce then the nuts

  • Why nuts?! Why not ice cream!?

  • Yes, That is exactly what I did.

Have fun and let me know how they turn out.

    Margie

  • you put twice in chocolate to make sure the bowl is thick enough not to crack and no hole in bottom!

  • What will you put in them.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Margie

  • Certain chocolates need to be tempered, therefore be careful.

The easiest to use would be a chocolate like Wilton or Merkins that does not need to be tempered. These may be found at candy supply stores or craft stores.

Chocolates that need to be tempered do taste better but they require skill in order to have them set up properly.

    Thanks for the question.

    Margie

  • can you melt any type of chocolate???????

  • Humm that is very interesting.

Yeah that I guess would be a good idea.

I use gloves all the time for my candies and cookies and I would bet that is what most people do who bake for retail/wholesale, and I have never heard of anyone putting that on a label. ??

    But that is very interesting

    Thanks,

    Margie

  • Well if you are making these for a party or something do you have to let people know that you used balloons, cause some people are alergic to latex.

  • only to make them stronger

    Margie

  • why we put the balloons to the chocolate twice?

  • 0:20 That's what she said

  • The bowls are made out of simple chocolate and therefore melt the same as any chocolate would.

Thank you for your question, I hope my answer helps.

    Margie

  • How fast do the bowls melt??

  • Can't have tooooo much Chocolate!

    Margie

  • or when ur done you could just put chocolate in it and you got the balloon out

  • Comment removed

  • That is great! It probably was the change in temperature between the balloon, chocolate don't forget room temperature to.

A "good rule of thumb is" if I can feel the chocolate it may be to warm. That is somewhat of an exaggeration but pretty close to true.

I bring chocolate to about 90 degrees when I dip candy. Human body temperature is 98.6

If you think the chocolate is too hot add a little more chopped chocolate to cool it down. That works really well.

Thank you for not giving up.

    Margie

  • Ok Margie, I had to try again. This time i wait until the chocolate was barely warm and dipped it. One balloon popped and 4 stayed inflated. They are chilling now in the fridge. Hope for success!

  • Hi Margie,

I just tried this but all my baloons popped and i made a huge mess! I made sure my chocolate was not too hot but the baloons still popped, so I was wondering if there are certain type of baloons i should use. I got the water baloons from Target. Help please! Thanks!!

    andria

  • Yummmy Gotta Buy Ingrediants!!

  • That's great, they are a lot of fun!

Let me know how they turned out.

    Margie

  • I will try it definitely

  • I will try it definitaly

  • Thank you very much I hope u have fun with it!

    Margie

  • !!! This is the best video i could find,,<3 thank u very much X

  • hello :) i love your videos and i love your ideas, but is there any alternative to balloons? im allergic to latex so i dont know any other things to use. if you know anything please tell me :) thanks

  • thank you,

    Margie

  • Yummmmmm…...

  • First thing..please.do not use chocolate chips for this.

Go to your local grocery store or Michael's Crafts and pick up the chocolate wafers (Merkins or Wilton). Chocolate chips are great but are not really the best choice for the balloon bowls,, The wafers are designed to melt very nicely and they will cool and harden properly. We have a video on melting the wafers...melt them very slowly in the microwave. 1 minute, stir then 45 sec, stir then 30 sec, stir.

Let me know how they turn out

  • I tried this yesterday with milk chocolate chips and it turned out a little messy and thick so im going to try it with dark chocolate next time 

  • Yes, Milk Chocolate is fine. Be careful though to use chocolate that does not need to be tempered, like the Merkins or Wilton chocolate discs. Unless of course you know how to temper chocolate.

You may be able to use chocolate chips...I have never done that.

Let me know how the bowls turn out.

    Margie

  • Great, let me know how they turn out

    Magie

  • I'm doing this tomorrow 

  • shes soo adorable for some reason ..

  • wow Ive never seen it dipped twice but I see how important that is :D ur video was perfect :)

  • Assuming that your balloons are ok the only reason that I can think of would be your chocolate it too hot. The chocolate should only feel warm to the touch. If it gets too hot cool it down with more chocolate.

    Sorry about the mess though,

    Margie

  • my balloons keep popping...

  • Humm that all depends on the chocolate. Some chocolates need to be tempered or they will bloom meaning the cocoa butter will come to the surface which look like white areas. Chocolate chips may work for this. White chocolate would work also.

Sometimes a little decoration will help cover the flaws. Check out our chocolate covered strawberries for a nice decoration. Also chopped nuts or coconut.

Let me know how things turn out.

    Margie

  • do you have to use wafer chocolate can you buy white or milk chocolate chips thats what i bought

  • thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The chocolate that I used is not tempered. I used the chocolate melting discs like from Wilton or Merkins. Usually you can buy discs in the grocery store. They are just carefully melted in the microwave. I have a video on it.

Oh and by the way if you use tempered chocolate they would be fantastic!!!

  • Is the chocolate tempered?

  • I would love to do theese but i am allergic to latex balloons. :( this is very creative good video

  • Don't burst my balloon. Making bowls out of balloons is what I live for.

But just for the info of it, where can you buy them?

  • you know you can buy them(chocolate bowls) already premade right? saves the time making them.

  • Drive to the grocery store , park. go to the baking section of your grocery store and look for bakers unsweetened chocolate, purchase it, drive home, bring the chocolate to your kitchen, open up the box and unwrap 3 square of chocolate and chop it up fine.

That is the way I make my chocolate. and it works every time!

  • EVERYONE FORGOT THE FIRST STEP!

THE CHOCOLATE! HOW DO YOU MAKE IT?????

ive never thought of the balloon before.. thats super cool! and its nice and neat. and i like how you make sure its nice and thick by double and triple coating :)

  • That is really nice for you to say! I really cannot speak for Miko (my video person) because he is sooooo! layed back. If you asked him he would just so uh huh but I can tell you I have a lot of fun doing them.

    Thanks for your comment, Margie

  • luv ur vids

  • There is only one way (and this is strictly my opinion) to make money in the candy business and that is to focus on one item and produce mass quantities. The business of having a shop with lots of assorted candies is mostly alot of work... not money. If you love making candy and producing something people really enjoy go for it... but be smart about it. Business is Business.

  • is your candy buisness actually getting good payment? because i was thinking of making my own candy making buisness

  • When you melt the chocolate stir it well to even out the temperature and touch it. It should only feel ever so slightly warm. If it gets too warm add more chocolate discs to cool it down.

The balloon only need to be blown up enough to hold it's shape.

What exactly happens when you dip a balloon and it pops...

  • Our balloons are popping when we place them in the melted chocolate. Are the balloons too thin or the chocolate too hot?

  • Great!!! Let me know how it turns out.

    Thanks, Margie

  • Thank you! This was helpful and clear. My daughter and I watched it and for her science homework we are going to do this!
