  • Haven't you ever heard of privacy? What if i take a video of you talking a bathroom break?

  • just mindlessly mash any number above 5 on your keyboard for the SAME PART O_O

  • First off all the crap gets tossed up into the ceiling of the dome and then dumped through a portal. Anyone with commong sense should know that the cat will end up having crap smeared on his head or tail the next time its used unless the dome is cleaned manually. what a flawed system

  • this is the worlds best practical joke, its actually a shit powered catapult

  • WAY too small. How would you like to use a bathroom where 1/4 of your body poked out of the top of it?

  • For those worried about the noise factor at night, just buy a simple plug timer (like we use on Christmas lights). They're about 10 bucks and you can simply have the thing physically off all night. Next time your cat goes after sun up, it dumps all the night waste.

  • What. It sounds like a lawn mower, hair dryer, and vaccuum all going at the same time. How does such a small machine make that much noise?

  • is it that loud?

  • sounds loud as HELL

  • I'll grant that on the video the unit does seem loud and it does make me a little wary about putting it in the bathroom which is directly across from mine and my wife's bedroom, but I could put the unit on a piece of carpet to muffle the sound a bit. And it definitely seems like a good alternative to a blind person who tries to scoop litter and might sometimes drop clumps on the floor by accident. Not a daily occurrence but it's happened enough to annoy me.

  • We love ours. It's certainly not this loud at all and must be a result of the view and room acoustics.... and for multiple cats you can turn it to manual clean and just hit the button a few times a day if you worry it will run all the time.

  • too loud I would hate to be woken up by that machine and be like .. UGH the cat went to the bathroom again...lol I rather scoop it out.. quicker and quieter

  • Don't you worry the cat will poop in the washing machine if you leae the door open now it's used to that? Ewwww... turds on your best shirt..

  • i agree with gallettea6121 look at it that. When i clean my littler box it takes 2 sec (carcasticlly) and i have 5 cats! vincent, nina, coco, gracey, and royce

  • I hear it shmears sh!t all over the inside when it rotates is that true? I also hear it is impossible to clean the Sh!T smears off the inside walls after it finishes rotating...?

  • What would happen if she goes in while its turning?

  • SOMEONE'S WATCHING UUUU

    0_O

  • I have this same model and it isn't that loud. It does make noise, but I think that the room and the floor in this video make it seem worse than it is. I LOVE my litter robot! It keeps everyone, including the cat, very happy!

  • @levarfan doesnt it have shit all over the place it depends on how messy ur cat is right

  • @TheKastani Not at all! You put the clumping litter in, and the cat covers up its business. The machine waits a few minutes which dries it up before rotating. When it rotates, it sifts out the clean litter, dumps the clumps into the bottom, and then rotates back, returning and smoothing the litter. The walls don't really get messy since there is plenty of litter covering the clumps. The spherical part comes off and is easily washed in the bathtub.

  • Is there a timer so it wont tumble at 2 am?

  • my baby cousins name is ava. kinda funny :)

  • What an ingenoius machine !! Where can I get one & how much would it be ?

    Brilliant ! :-)

  • Does it come with Reading Material ? Here are some of the Mags my Cat reads...KAT DIGEST / MEOW WORLD / FUR STYLES / TAIL Yoga / & The Joys of Licking Yourself....

  • your cat is soooooooooooooo cute :), looks like a cow cat! haha

  • your cat is soooooooooooooo cute :)

  • and if they have the runs...well?

  • RE: The unit being LOUD.

In a room with tiled floors, no drapes, hard surfaces any motor driven device is going to be on the loud side.

    Possible workarounds:

Put the unit in a room that has soft surfaces, might help to put a rubber mat, sound deadening material under unit.

  • what happens if it spins and the cat is in it?

  • @raz0r878 The sensor won't let it spin if the cat is still in it.

  • It's loud isn't it? o_o

  • @KatielovesV

So is a blow dryer when operated in a room with hard surfaces. (EG: Bathroom)

    .

  • If you have a one cat house this is cool. This unit is not appropriate for multiple cat households. They all stand in line waiting for it to finish, and usually just pee on the floor waiting for it. If you have multiple cats you'll still need a backup litter box for them to use while this thing is doing its laborious cleaning cycle. For one cat though this is a godsend.

  • Sounds really loud. With multiple cats you'd be hearing that quite frequently. I was almost sold.

  • How does the rotation help dry the litter?

  • @FeignofCordor

The same way clumping litter does when you remove the clumped portions.

Fill unit (to proper level with CLUMPING CAT LITTER)

    Cat uses unit.

7 minutes AFTER the cat uses unit the cleaning cycle starts.

Drum rotates, during the process the "clumps" are seperated from the unused litter.

The used litter drops into a drawer/tray in base of unit.

Once every few days empty drawer/tray, replenish litter as needed.

    .

  • Okay... it seems too good to be true until i hear how loud it is. ...my mom and dad breed cats and so we have around 4 adults and two kittens with two cats preggo. so... there's going to be a lot of activity and what if they use the litterbox at night when we're sleeping? it's too loud in my opinion. but useful if it would be quieter.

  • @GraeSkiesSiastra

RE: 4 adults and two kittens with two cats preggo.

Litter Robot=your cat must weigh at least five pounds for safe use.

Amazon . com Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box, Green and Beige (LARGE) would be your best option. Cost of box is very reasonable $35.29 shipped currently.

Item B0002DK2DU, model RA20 (Large version)

While not a automated solution it works on the same principle as the Litter Robot, but does not make ANY noise.

    Check the Youtube vids...

  • It's a great deal louder than I anticipated. I'm in a small one-bedroom apartment and am now much more concerned than I was previously. Thanks for the video, much appreciated.

  • Loud...

  • it's a great idea but it is SOO loud!

and what happens if your cat takes more than 7 mins?

  • @LaydeeLovee

The unit "waits" 7 minutes AFTER the cat has left the unit to give time for the clumping litter to "clump". On the front of the unit below the entrance is a step /sensor, cat upon entering steps on step which tells unit a cat is inside, upon exiting the cat steps on the step again which tells the unit the cat has exited.

  • it didn't wipe her butt, that means the couch will probably smell like poop.

  • lol that will not work for my cats (my 10 cats) they all sit on the edge of the litter box an take a number 2 (shit) i know eew

  • kitty toilet cam. hahaha

  • FUCK THAT dman is that thing ever loud who the fuck would use that unless in liek a god damn basement ! lol

  • it seems very noisy....anyone had one?

  • I want to buy the Litter robot. But when I go to their website, they don't deliver the product to Australia. Is there anyone know where I can buy it in Sydney?

  • This is for lazey fucks that dont deserve cats or any pet! get up off your fucking ass every couple of days and clean there shit or buy the Omega paw self cleaning litter box I just bought one at Petco and is the best! You still have to wipe it down and add a little fresh litter once a week if you care about your pets!

  • @lankey32

Cat litter box should be cleaned at least once per day.

Omega paw self cleaning litter box (I received mine today, alas damaged in shipping is while a neat design ) is a MANUAL solution. Some people travel, work out of town and need a AUTOMATED solution.

For them I think the Litter Robot is probably the most problem free, cost effective units on the market.

  • @lankey32 You are SO WRONG! I'm a 70-yr old disabled lazy fuck of a woman who runs a 5+ acre animal rescue sanctuary by myself - and the Litter Robot that I bought 3 years ago far outperforms the messy Omega! It saves me the back-breaking work of scooping, cleaning, dumping, etc. that I had to do for the cats confined indoors-sometimes as many as eight at once. IT DOES NOT JAM. EVER! I have more time for cleaning coops, barns, & kennels, fixing fences, whatever. Lazy fuck? I don't think so!

  • it's very loud...

I takes a long time fore turning the thing...

it is a nice idae bute that't all

  • come on'' its not that loud.

  • omfg it makes so mutch noise i thoight it was not that loud never mind bout bying it

  • To anyone who thinks this is a lazy invention or a waste of money, is totally WRONG!!! i guess noone ever thought about how like practically the whole WORLD is pregnant at some point within their lives and how they probably have a cat. When you are pregnant you are NOT allowed to change litter as their is a parasite in the feces that can give your growing baby a disease. SO therefore, this invention is brilliant and well worth the money!!!!

  • @xDevastatiax , You actually CAN change litter if pregnant. Toxoplasmosis is sooo common most people have been exposed to it and already have an immunity. Just keep you can indoors, use gloves and/or a lil paper mask, and clean the box often. If you clean it often then the parasites eggs will not have time to hatch. The mash prevents inhalation of bacterial matter and/or bits of any parasites.

Or just buy on of these!

  • It's nice, but my cat likes to stand up and pee. So the area the pee is drying will never get touched by the litter.

  • That's just to loud and obnoxious to me. If it were quieter. Maybe, just maybe I would consider spending that much on an automatic litterbox.

  • My cats would never use this. To confining.

  • Is it as loud as it seems in the video?

  • What a ridiculous machine. Only really lazy people would get that.

You still need to clean it, and since the shit is rolling around in there, it's going to be on the sides, and your cat is going to get it on it's fur.

Just use a regular box. It's really not much trouble.

  • It is so ridiculous, if you have 2 or more cats and want to go travel .. let them lots of water, dry food and the Little robot ... and to enjoy a week with your partner.

  • You should NEVER EVER leaver your cats alone while you go travel for a week. That is completely unacceptable. Litter is the least of the worries if you are going to do that. You must be insane to leave them unattended for a week.

What if they tip over their water container or something happens so they don't have water? They die of thirst. You cannot secure enough that their food and water will work.

Seriously, if you do that, you are a horrible person.

  • realisticHomeboy, i do it all the time and have never had a problem. I leave all the toilets up so if the dreaded water bowl tipover occurs the cat can still access water. Lighten up dude, they're cats. Millions of them starve and die every day out on the streets and you don't seem too worried about them.

  • Wow, you are truly are retarded idiot.

It's completely irrelevant how many die on the streets.

You have to be completely retarded to think that that's a valid excuse.

Seriously, your reasoning is just worse than for a 5 year old.

  • Well you got name calling down... now next time try to come up with a valid retort and i'll take you seriously. Insulting a person without backing it up with facts is an invalid argument. My point was cats are survivors and they don't really need you as much as you think they do. Sure they need regular vet visits and food and a clean place to live but if you go away for a week they'll be FINE. But keep calling me names if it makes you feel better.

  • The valid points were already given. You came with the most retarded excuses I have ever heard for leaving a cat alone home for a long time. You are not clever enough to bother explaining anything further to then. You are simply too dumb. You don't care the least bit about cats welfare and shouldn't own any. In your eyes, it's ok to starve them to death, because there exists cats in the streets that have it as bad, and you somehow assume to know whether I care about these cats or not.

  • With all the noise it makes, it will be the perfect machine to annoy my cat hating neighbor. I think I will put it right at the edge of my property line next to his rotted back porch where he loves to sit and annoy me with his nasty comments about my cat, and the smell of spray. Then again, I am going to have to think twice about this brilliant idea. My deranged drunk of a neighbor might end up using the robot himself.

  • Do not be fooled; This is no litter box. This is a feline time machine; and once your cat goes inside, you will never see little kitty ever again. My cat vanished exactly 7 minutes into the spin cycle and I haven't seen him since. Please let your friends know before it is to late. ---Oh Wait! He's back, a little disorientated, but alive...Hold 0n...now he's meowing something about a NDE and a pack of rats he met who said it wasn't his time, that he still had 8 lives to go.. and must return...

  • @galletta6121 Haha that's great!!!

  • @galletta6121 That's better. My cat learned to dance - "dancing on the ceiling" after few used. Worse is, he won't use it without music.

  • Seems like a lot of noise/wasted time... Almost 3 minutes to complete a job I can do myself in less than 30 seconds, and without the noise? Not impressed.

  • Maybe not shock you if you have a cat .. but I have 5 and not 3 minutes .. is more time .. besides, I have said before .. if you want to go travel more than 1 week, better method for cleaning?

  • hey can you gays tell me which one is better for 8 cats

do you think the litter maid or the litter robot?

    i need help

  • Have a look at the Omega Rollaway. We have 8 indoor cats and we wouldn't use anything else!

  • i looked at one of the vids that shows how to yousRollaway.and i don't think that's the writ litter box for my cats. for some (reasons) i pot a lot of sand in there litter box like a lot and i think its just to heavy to roll all of these every time one of my cats have to go you know....

    i rather scoop it out.......

any way writ now im saving money to buy the litter robot.all i have to do is change the plastic bag and that's it =D

  • I still don't get how it works. And the turning only contaminated the entire litterbox with germs. I vote this down unless it's washing it with water.

  • Holy Shit... That thing makes more noise than a truck....... !!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • This thing is really loud. My cat would hear that thing and wouldnt even come close to it again.

  • I like reading all of these good things. I have had a very hard time finding someone who doesnt like this litter box and usually its because the cat doesnt want to use it. I travel alot and my now ex-gf is leaving me the cat that she wanted. Im not about to bring the little guy back the shelter, but I dont want to be calling people to clean up after him every couple weeks. Ill probably get him a friend to play with. The more I read about this box, the more I really want to get one.

  • @DK1102 You have to be careful with how long you leave an automatic box. You still have to clean out the compartment. I had an automatic box (got it for $1 due to manager error at the pet store.. it's off the market now) and I left for the weekend. It was cat-activated. When I came back Sunday night the mechanism was broken because the poop tray was full, which made the blades on the pooper scooper jam. It wasn't fixable and had to be thrown out.

  • Doesn't the pee just leak to the bottom and then smear all along the inside of it as it turns?

  • haha this feels kind of voyeuristic

  • Sheesh that's L O U D.

  • I've just ordered my second Litter-Robot. My cats used it immediately. The kitties actually enjoy watching it turn. It feels like it is too good to be true but it is true! Clumps fall neatly to the bottom tray. Way cool!

  • I just purchased my 2 nd unit. My first one lasted 7 years. The unit paid for itself in 10 months in the litter savings alone. The video does make it sound loud, but that is because the mic is so close. Ours is in a first floor laundry room and I very seldom hear it. It actually sits right next to the dryer. If I close the laundry room door we do not hear it at all.

  • Hi chager86, I have five cats, and considering of buying the litter robot. I am wondering if one litter robot is enough for five cats.?I will still clean the litter once a day.

  • What happens if the kitty goes in during the spin cycle?

  • If a cat steps on it during the spin it will stop. It will not spin with a cat in it.

  • It stops.

  • i'm planing to buy this.

please, honestly, do you recommend it?

    yes or not?

  • I highly recommend this product.

  • Absolutely!! Best investment I have made for my cats. Loved to get a second one but alas, they are pricey but worth it. But take care on what type of litter you use. I used the wheat-based litter and I found that it hardened like rock!! Avoid wheat-based litters in the Robot

  • this is awesome can someone please tell me, if u eventually have to clean the drum itself? is there a way to open it and clean or is it not neccessary

  • You do need to wash out the globe every few months with soap and water. I take it outside and hose it down in the spring and the fall. If I have a sick kitty then I will clean it an extra time. I also hose down the drawer. The base of the unit just gets wiped down with a damp cloth. It is really easy.

I use Tidy Cat multicats litter, but that is my preference of litter. It has always worked the best for us even before we bought this unit.

  • do you need to use clumping litter>

  • Yes, clumping litter - even if the least expensive brand, is necessary.

  • @geardiary I watched your videos with no small amount of skepticism whether or not my cats would use this. However I have to say it is SO MUCH better than the 'other' automated litter boxes with proprietary containers and all the cats are curious when it starts to run and want to climb back inside for a ride. Thank goodness they haven't but are VERY interested what is happening to their litter! p.s. I have mine in a laundry room on a piece of carpet which makes the noise almost unnoticeable.

  • Rofl

I just let my cats outside and they help make the soil a little more "fertile" XD

  • I let my siamese outside to "make the soil fertile" and someone shot him with a pellet gun. Not a safe idea for cats in today's world.

  • That's always been my fear of letting cats out. I'd maim the person that attacks my kitties.

  • OverPriced, One problem I have with the litter robot site is, it states the litter robot is less expensive to operate because you need no special litter or special receptacles, Well as anyone who has owned a littermaid knows you can line the recepticles with plastic bags, great use for all those grocery bags laying around, And I use the cheapest available clumping litter in it with no problems whatsoever. So in reality the litter robot costs exactly the same to operate as the littermaid.

  • We could never get the bags to fit right without it popping pieces of litter up in our faces to unlatch the bin (eeww) though we did try, and the cheap litter usually left a 'mud' in ours. Tidycat was about as cheap as we could go. It made things more of a mess than it was worth if we took the cheaper route either way. The refurb one doesn't cost that much more than the EliteMega LitterMaid. It's been cheaper on us already to actually use. We have several cats, and we're hard on any litterbox.

  • I've never seen mud in my Litter Robot. We use the cheap litter where you bring the bucket to the store.

  • I agree with crystiw. I tried lining the plastic littermaid receptacles and it was not worth the trouble. The plastic bags would get holes in them when trying to unlatch them from the bin and the litter does pop up. I tried just lining it with aluminum, but the bin is just too difficult to remove without a mess. The littermaid receptacle bin is also too small if you have more than one cat.

  • Litter Robot is built like an appliance; very solid. I don't thin that can be said about Litter Maid.

  • Thanks for putting this up. I just ordered one yesterday (comes Tuesday), and was worried it wouldn't be big enough. I can't imagine this thing would be too much louder than the LitterMaid I am replacing. The motor finally started going out, so I had a reason to get one of these. (LitterMaids are messy, expensive, and a pain in the rear BTW for anyone wondering. I regret buying that one, though it was better than scooping every hour due to a kitty who won't use even a slightly dirty litterbox.)

  • Is the best criticism that you people have to offer is you don't like the noise level when being recorded with a camera microphone from three feet away? Are you planning on putting a unit by the head of your bed or in the laundry room or other remote part of your dwelling where the noise level will like be unheard?

I'm more concerned that the product works as advertised, has a reasonably long and maintenance free life cycle.

  • If it just rotates the cat poop, then what good is it?

  • It rotates the waste from out of the drum, and into a tray in the bottom. Once a week I have to remove a bag in the tray and throw it away. Then I put in another bag and it's ready to go again.

It's good because I no longer have to scoop waste every day.

  • I have a strange feeling you're somehow being compensated for promoting this 'Litter-Robot'. I mean I like the idea but lets be honest, that thing is LOUD! Its VERY easy to design a quiet motor to rotate the litterbox, I just dont get why the designers dont do thatm which would also double their sales. My cat hates the hoover and would definitely avoid that thing.

  • Your skepticism is admirable, but other than being allowed to keep the model I reviewed (because let's face it, sending back a "used" Litter-Robot would have been NASTY), I have received absolutely no compensation; the company doesn't even advertise on my site.

And Avah is still happily using her Litter-Robot, and I am still happily not having to sift through her litter. :-)

  • Isn't being allowed to keep the machine compensation in itself? Anyway, Im glad its working out for you and Avah.

  • Perhaps, but we did turn around and order another at full price for my mom's cat; so we obviously like it, and it obviously works. :-)

  • omfg this is a joke right? this fuckin thing is too louddddddddd!

  • I've given up after three broken Littermaids, and have purchased my first Litter-Robot. It's quieter than the Littermaid, but the cycle time is a little longer. The Littermaids required regular cleaning of the tray bottom and rake; the Litter-Robot seems to need no cleaning at all. Just swap out the bag of waste.

  • Oh no! This is the first I've ever heard of this thing. There's no way my oldest cat would get in there after she saw that it makes all that noise and moves like that! She's afraid of the vaccuum and that thing sounds like one. I'd love to not have to deal with the funky litter boxes I have though.

  • You would be surprised how quickly even an older cat will take to this thing...and I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it is to basically never again clean a litter box. :-)

  • Avah looks adorable, and TINY! My cat weighs 15 pounds. Are there any weight restrictions or size issues? My cat isn't extremely fat, but he is very long - large bone structure. I love what I've read about this product, but I'm concerned that he would be too big.

  • Oh no, believe me - Avah easily weighs 15 pounds - and she is a big (just not long-haired) cat! The thing is that the Litter Robot is big enough to make her look petite. ;-)

  • kelly - just remember that mine was in a tile bathroom. I don't think it would be as loud in a carpeted room, or even a room with more furniture. :-)

  • I want one but its kind of loud, No?

  • Haha that is well cool!
