  • A fabulous grand and sassy lady !!!

  • The three people who would dislike this video:

Stan, angry because of the money she probably made off of this appearance.

    Ma, because..well it's Ma :)

Blanche, jealous of the attention Bea was getting from the men on stage :)

  • I love you Bea darling!!!!!!

  • Electric!

  • She looks a little like Helen Mirren with that hairstyle.

  • Bea looked amazing in this video! That outfit was so flattering on her! I have to say, Bea was one of the few people who could pull off gray hair, especially in that hairdo. That's probably the best she looked since the '50's!

  • I saw Bea when she brought her one woman show to London. So glad I did. Rest in peace, lovely lady

  • I saw her perform this at a benefit at Lincoln Center and she brought the house down. Love ya Maude!

  • love love love it

  • I love listening to Bea sing (: but lord... what is she wearing?

  • Bea was my idel. RIP Bea you are truly missed

  • Bea's one of a kind.She's my hero. R.I.P Bea:)

  • Do you have Shapiro doing "Junk Man" from this 1982 show? Thanks very much!

  • Damn, I can't believe she is gone. I am thankful there is so work of hers available. She is brilliant.

  • I saw her peform this number at a tribute to Cy Coleman. She opened the show and she was hard to top.

  • shes great

  • PBS?

  • The show was produced to be shown during the PBS pledge drive, but it was also a "tribute to Broadway" and a "tribute to the Kennedy Center" (where it was staged). I worked on the show. It was a little confused.

  • SUBLIME!

  • I love her!

I'm sure whever she is she's still entertaining.

    She was sucha good performer.

    X's

  • She pronounces her words very clearly.

  • The true face, poise and voice of talent. I've never seen anyone so made for the spotlight. She was a breath of fresh air in a stuffy world. RIP, beautiful lady.

  • I LOVE HER!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this clip. She was simply born to entertain and she was GREAT at it.

  • RIP Bea

  • she wouldve done so much better on broadway with Wildcat than Lucille Ball even though Lucy is an amazing comedian and entertainer

  • @abon2244

"Wildcat" closed early because Lucy was ill and ticket holders demanded refunds for the performances that she missed. It wasn't because of her performance or talent. Furthermore, she was the financier and producer of the show.

The only thing that could have been said about Bea is that she may have been closer to the age of the main character as it was originally written

  • @beachkrp I know it was. I'm a huge Lucille Ball fan. I'm just saying she had a great voice for this character.

  • Bea looks awesome! The best I've ever seen her. With that hair and outfit she is FIERCE! And don't forget those pipes!

  • I know right!!

  • omg! her hair and outfit are cute!

  • Oh, mercy, she's GORGEOUS!

& a PBS shout out, too.

  • she is made for the stage. she just looks so comfortable and you can tell she enjoys everything she does.

  • i love how she puts the mike at the end. She looks so regal and beautiful. I was on another video a few minutes ago where someone said she was ugly. I said this exactly,

Bea was beautiful. She wasn't a starlet in the 50's like she'd wanted to be, so she worked with what she had and that made her the prettiest person ever. I Love You Bea!

    RIP Bea!

  • I am a Vietnamese American who came to the US at the age of 16. I am telling you my growing up here in the US has been a wonderful experience. Bea Arthur and the Golden Girls has enhanced my life throughout the years. I love Bea deeply, one of my very top TV fictional characters of all time.

  • ok, so the song's a bit hammy, but what better way to pay tribute to one of america's (and my) favorite entertainers?? my heart goes out to the family of bea arthur, who totally made me laugh thru original eps of the golden girls and reruns of maude. ta ta for now.

  • Heaven is happier now with Bea there! RIP Golden Girl!

  • when was/is the funeral?

  • there was no funeral

  • WHY??

  • they dont think bea would have wanted one. Funerals are for people to morn and see how special the person was.

Everybody did that on the morning of bea's death.

    Luv ya bea

  • You know i was thinking the same thing. did she have a burial though? I just still cant believe shes gone!

  • i belive she had a burial, because you do have to be buried,

But no funeral. Her sons didnt think she'd want one.

  • why do yu have to be buried can they not have cremation?

  • Rest in Peace Bea

  • SUPER JOB AS ALWAYS BEA!!!!!

  • R.I.P. GOLDEN GIRL

  • Rest in Peace Beautiful Bea!

  • She was great; miss her already.

  • I cried... estelle and bea. But she will be missed. She was a talented actress and teriffic singer!

  • She was a true performer! A great all rounder no less. I terific woman and a tragic loss.

    RIP to a true icon.

  • What a wonderful and unrecognized talent she was! You'll be missed, Bea, but I still watch on TVLand.

  • RIP Bea

  • So sad that in less than a year, we've lost two of the golden girls. She was a talented actress and singer. Thank you, Bea, for being a friend. You will be missed terribly.

  • She was great in Star Wars!

  • RIP Bea Arthur. I will miss you sorely. I loved the Golden Girls.

  • my golden girl Bea Arthur

  • LOVE HER!!

  • I can remember all the words to this song but I can't remember where it's from. Can anyone help?? Please

  • The show was Wildcat with Lucille Ball

  • Beautiful!

  • Who remembers this on MAUDE when she sang this to Arthur: It's impossible, for Maude Findlay to go braless it's impossible . ." Anyone remember that episode?

  • Who remembers this on MAUDE when she sang this to Arthur: It's impossible, for Maude Findlay to go braless it's impossible . ." Anyone remember that episode?

  • one word DIVINE better than Lucy dare I say

  • What a great and likeable telent. One of Bea Arthur's first musical roles was in the Threepenny Opera that played for years in Greenwich Village. She appropriately sang "You Can't Just Let a Man Walk Over You." or "The Barbara Song"

  • bea arther is great so under rated! great voice!

  • wheres this song from

  • Wildcat, a musical about a lady oil prospector, as played by Lucille Ball.

  • its just you.

  • every song that bea arthur sings always turns out to be awesome! better than the original one... she is really one great performer!

  • This was a song Lucille Ball introduced on Broadway

  • Oh thank you! I love Bea Arthur--- never seen her sing before. She has a neat voice. Really a ledgend as a person and an actress!

  • we played this song in my music class. i play trumpet!!! it's soooo fun( not the trumpet but the song... :-s)

  • I always wondered is this a tribute to Cy Coleman?

  • It's a salute to the Kennedy Center.

  • Thank you! I always wondered who/what they were honoring :)

  • You're welcome!

  • wow she amazing. love the deep voice and accent. anyone else?

  • is it true that she was asked to be Ursula the seawith in the movie??

  • Yup, and I for one would have LOVED to hear her take on "Poor Unfortunate Souls".

  • Absolutely agree. Not saying that Pat Carroll didn't do an amazing job as Ursula, it's just...what if Bea had gotten the part instead?

  • There was two other choices too.

  • There were several choices. Please forgive the names if I get them wrong, There was Charlotte Rae, Tony Sopranos mother, Elaine Stritch, Joan Collins, Jennifer Saunders, even Divine, I think was approached to do the voice...it would've been convenient since he was the body model, but such talented women (and one extraordinary man) for such a great part, one can only wonder.

  • Indeed 'Elaine Stritch', the other I was thinking of was Phyllis Diller.

Elaine and Phyllis would've made great vocies for Ursula becasue they have an excellent aire of pazzaz (both with character), whereas Bea Arthur has a great low booming voice (with character), but I personally think Pat Carroll embodied both other valities so well.

  • Both 'THOSE' qualities. sorry.

  • that would b kool lol

  • i would loooove to meet her!

  • bea arthur was great.

  • i love bea. a true actress. they don't make em like this anymore.

  • That is so true. I love golden girls and maude. And what a singer. Brilliant

  • bea is terific!! BRILLIANT

  • I simply LOVE Bea Arthur!!! Terrific voice, great talent - just wow!

  • great voice....a legend

  • i love this woman so

  • wow... just as I thought that I have seen all of Bea's performances... this is great! thanks for posting!!

  • thanks so much, i love bea
