I installed solar panels on my property and now see my bill lower but DUKE ENERGY has raised the the cost of my KW so if your going with solar you need to get off the grid DUKE ENERGY DOES NOT WANT YOU TO GO GREEN THEY WANT YOUR MONEY..they are charging more for less electric being used my meter numbers used less then half of last month but only saved 11.00 dollars bunch of bull if you ask me.
Sustainable Development eh? I don't want any company managing my life or having the availability to do so. Sustainable development and Green Energy is all part of fulfilling the United Nations Agenda 21. Wake up America. More Govt. Control
Intermittent power is expensive and dirty, so reducing demand even a little at peak load really does matter.
Also, the existing grid is old and wastes a lot of electricity, so it's technically possible to serve the same customers at less cost; based on utility compensation structures, that means customers could be charged less without affecting Duke's profit margins.
Also, serving more customers with the same base load reduces GHG emissions per capita. So yes, it really does matter.
Do you really think Duke Energy is going to produce less energy if you lower your temp by one degree? This will give them that much more power to sell across their grid to other utilities.
Come on people Wake Up learn about how business works.
Jim Rogers can go on the Daily Show and pat himself on the back all he wants. But you wouldn't be in it Jim if it wasn't for the Money.

you may be right that the excess would be sold rather than not produced but if that happens the benefits go back to Duke's customers.
