If you from Big Island you grow up hearing about Pele. If you drive Saddle Road At Night or the Kun3 (Hamakua Coast) or in Ka'u at night and you see a Old Aunty hitch-hiking.... That's Pele for you lol.... Big Island Repp. HAWAIIAN FOR LIFE!!!
@HaVVaiianVVarrior I went to this beach onetime, and as I parked my car there was this little old Aunty harvesting Pandanus leaves. She was wearing a dress that was red with white Hibiscus on it and she had on a Pandanus hat. She told me to put all my things in the trunk because there had been some thefts. So after I did, I turned around to thank her and SHE HAD DISAPPEARED!
It's the 21st century and people still believe that supernatural forces have something to do with the volcanoes in Hawaii? Take some geology classes you ignorant fools.
The Godess did grace me with her presence when I was on the Big Island. she was an old woman harvesting Pandanus leaves, and told me not to leave things visible in my car, but put them in the trunk. When I walked away from the car, I turned back to thank her, and she had disappeared! Thank You, Godess!
i don't know if this is a prayer to Pele, it seems more like a name-song, a shant. I am not sure if I like the kinda echo-y nature to the chant. Seems to ruin it. This kind of chant should stay pure due to its ancient roots in the culture. But I still respect that people embrace and recognize the Hawaiian culture for what it is instead of the commercialized version. Thanks for posting. :)
There needs to be a little more tolerance.... of a persons freedom and right to choose religious beliefs.... (@gatewaytheaven1). It was a very interesting chant. I enjoyed it a great deal... Thank you very much for posting!
Exodus 20:3-5 states " Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;"
GatewayToHeaven1: Shut your bible bashing trap. Hawaiian Gods and Goddesses came long before Christianity did. Hel, most religions came before Christianity did, centuries before Christianity. How can Christianity be "the one true religion" if many other religions came before it? Take that and shove it up where the sun don't shine....
No that is what the pagans would have you believe. The Bible starts at the dawn of creation, which is described in the book of Genesis, and was written over thousands of years until it was finished approx. 2000 years ago. Its the pagans that invent their false religions and then claim that their beliefs came before the start of the Bible, which is a lie. The Bible has never been proven wrong yet it has been confirmed to be right, time and timer again.
The Bible has NEVER been proven to be anything other than a book that has been mistranslated again and again to suit the views of some Evangelical turd who's Racist, Sexist and Homophobic.
It is indeed truly sad how so many people capable of good things are ill convinced of the writings of such books. Our nature, as human beings is TO QUESTION and LEARN.
To simply accept any written material as ultimate, is to shoot ourselves in the foot. Now can I get an Amen for that.
@GatewayToHeaven1 well then is'nt ironic that a similar version of Genesis appeared in the Egyptian Book of the Dead text which predated egyptian culture and originated in the ancient culture of Sumeria. The bible like most religious texts is based of lies and baseless superstition. Find the truth in Mu...
The Bible was edited and re-edited. God is NOT Jealous. Enviousness is a flaw and a fault. God is flawless. Demigods and Goddesses are servants of God. We are not making false gods, but bonafide ones. Imaginary gods are ones like BARBIE and Elvis etc
You are right but for the wrong reasons fellow believer. The Universe and Multiverse, oceans of oceans of stars made by our Creator, cannot be made by such a small "jealous" mind like the bible describes as God being. Look within life and you shall see that the real God is not even a personality, but an eternal "beyond-consciousness".
Jealousy is such a small petty feeling. A creator of everything must surpass such petty feelings in order to be so great.
@GatewayToHeaven1 I hate to point this out, especially after you've already had several bashings, but that verse only makes sense to those who were fortunate enough to be RAISED in a christian home. what about all the other who have never been exposed to God in an intimate setting? a relationship with God is a personal one, and while it's important to let friends and other know of your beliefs, they must arrive to the same beliefs on their own terms.
@GatewayToHeaven1 Yes, please lay off! We do not want to hear your Bible thumping. Leave us alone. Last, FYKI, that passage, "Thou shalt have no other god before me..." actually refers to material objects. What it is saying is, you will not worship sex or money, name and fame etc..
Today, I was looking at a picture of Pele while listening to the prayer featured in this video. It was so wonderful. I felt so at peace. In the picture, Pele looks like She is angry. But I am not frightened by the angry look. I know that She is a Mother and She is never angry with Her children. She is only angry at the sins. I hate sins. May Pele in Her fury wipe out all sin from this world.
Befere, I said that Pele is very similar to Kali or Duga. I still feel that way. But, after seeing videos of Kilauea and the lava flows there, I am now thinking that Pele is very similar to Kali, but much hotter and much more dangerous if angered. I feel sorry for anyone who angers Her.
I was taught in my years as a Shakti upasala that when a man incurs Lord Shivas wrath, Mother Parvati can stop it. But if he incurs the wrath of Mother Parvati (Kali, Durga etc), even Lord Shiva cannot save him. But if someones does bad and angers Pele, then even Parvati cannot save them. My message to the unrighteous is they can run, but they cannot hide!
@skanthavelu To sin is to be "off target" an ancient Aramaic archery term. To "hate sin" is sewing a mistake back into your energetic system. I would invite you to Love, Peace and Compassion there by sewing that into your field.
@Alohalika1 That is very true what you have said. May Mother Pele bless all of us. I have a photo of Mother Pele on my altar along side photos of various Hindu deities. Even Mother Pele likes Sankrit chanting. I chanted some Sanskrit prayers in front of Mother Peles photo and it looked almosr as if She was looking at me when I was chanting, I said to myself, "Mother Pele is pleased with my chanting." I call Pele "Mother" because I see Her as a Mother.
Oh Pele! Oh Durga! Oh Kali! Sweet Divine Mother! Friend of the Pious, Firey Destroyer of the Wicked! Please guide me always through my life! I love You, Mother! Goddess of Hawai'i! Goddess of the World, may I spend the rest of my life loving, worshipping and serving You. I pray that in the end, I will have Your blessed darshan and I will attain moksha!
@oOHulaGirlOo It was in a book I read about Pele, its said she will have a white dog with her sometimes or is the dog, or both at the same time. In a book "Madam Pele" about modern sightings it said some people only saw the dog and believed it ws Pele.
PS: glad I don't normally read through youtube vids, just about everyone about another god has crazy bible thumpers who make all christians look bad (not one myself but have family who are).
I really like your video. I am a Shakta, a devotee of Shakti. And when I see Pele, I see the same Shakti which I worship in the form of Durga, Kali, Lakshmi and various other Hindu Goddesses. For me, Pele is another form of Kali. She is very simailar to Kali in many ways.
She(Kali) is my Mother, Goddess, Guru and friend. I love Her so much.
Pranams! I am so happy that you like this presentation and representation of Mother Durga and Her expansions (amsa) Yes, I agree that Pele definately reminds me of Durga devi and Her different forms.
@skanthavelu just do one thing if you visit Hawaii. Do not take her lava rocks or sand. she will curse you. too many stories have been told by people who took the rocks or sand and got bad luck.
@gmcmim1 Oh no, I will never do that. To take something away from a holy place is a sin and I want to have Peles Blessings, not incure Her Wrath. But thanks anyway for the warning.
Please can you provide the words of the prayer featured in this video along with the meaning? It is so beautiful. I can sense the bhakti behind this sacred chanting. It is wonderful.
Why would you say that about this sacred chanting? She is repeating the name Pele. Please do not disrespect Her. If you do't like it. please refrain from listening.
May the ever compassionate Divine Mother bless you always! Jai Ma!
