Booker T can still bring it!!! The drummer fits right in as the late Al Jackson was superb!! Smooth stuff and a willing listen when mellowing out with doing small chores, but mostly it is made for just being still and chillin' !!!! Like I said, Booker T and the Boys can still "bring It"!! Absolutely beautiful music!!!
Hah, look at Cropper's hair, that's great. This album is to me the best album ever recorded. This album and very few others (namely Abbey Road and Unleashed in the East) takes me on a fantastic mental journey. It's really indescribable, but I know it when I experience it. RIP Al Jackson, that guy is so inspriing, he allowed me to look at playing drums in a whole new way
Yep.. 5 years old in my Dad's red and white chevy '72 pickup-standing up in the middle of the bench seat of course with Mom's arm for a seatbelt if we had to stop too fast. God bless the old days and the classic music.
When I was 15, I played in a bar band that used to cover this song; I'd never heard of it, but it was a blast to play as a drummer. Thanks for the memories; people tend to remember Green Onion when referring to Booker T.
This is one of my second all time favorites by Booker T. & The MG's. Love this performance but no disrespect to Anton Fig but the flavor on the drums for this tune is missing without Al Jackson Jr.
He was reportedly told to get down on his knees shot fatally five times in the back. , Barbara Jackson ran out in the street, yelling for help. She told police that burglars had tied her up, and then shot her . The man police believed to have pulled the trigger the then-boyfriend of R&B singer Denise LaSalle Indictments against Barbara Jackson, Denise LaSalle supposed to be served, but never were. the boyfriend was killed by a police officer on July 15, 1976 after a gun battle
yer im into these guys atm, but before id never really heard of them, these guys are genius's, they play a brilliant song so well and make it literally a perfect song. loads of ppl have heard green onions and soul limbo but not know who its by. also its ppl like these that have inspired a lot of the music today.
Couldn't agree more. Its too bad the music that gets play these days is not more like this even though they were all touched by this brilliant playing.
Love this song, and extra happy that my favorite ban The Roots did a tribute to it.
