It was determined that Baker's punch created a hematoma, which led to a blood clot that caused his death when it reached his heart.Gunkel was buried in Arlington Memorial Park

So while Baker did not outright kill Gunkle, the reputation the promoters gave it was based on the loose connection between his finisher and Gunkle's heart issues. How much of that is legit and how much of that is hyped up history is anyone's guess, however. As for murdering him...no.
