@TheNoCoincidence it's mostly his distinctive voice, but he also makes use of a technique called double tracking. he records the same vocal part twice over and then layers the two tracks, to make it sound more full than one track would alone. made popular by the beatles :)

@TheNoCoincidence unfortunately i don't have enough experience with music production to tell by ear...if you're trying to recreate the sound I'd prob try messing with the EQ until it sounds good. Normally vox don't need a lot of EQ though. Best I can figure, double tracked vocals with a little bit of reverb for presence are the effects he uses...you might be able to get that sound just from those

I agree he is on the way ... but i wonder if he will end up being more like Cat Stevens, where at some stage he will get sick of the public eye and walk away into his own private world and beliefs. I hope he puts out a few more albums first though

Only that this man can sing infinitely better than Neil Young. In my opinion, Young should have gotten himself a good vocalist and focused on his guitar and songwriting (,which is indeed wonderful).
