  • "Just one thing in it:

    Me or him.

And I love life!" gives me goosebumps!

  • Took me absolutely ages to get into this album. I was really starting to think WTF. But I had listened to enough of her stuff already and loved it, so I persisted and haven't been disappointed. Its a fascinating music really and completely deserving of the effort I committed to it. I have noticed that this album was mainly canned when it first came out by the critics and was also a bit of a commercial flop. Now it's regarded as a classic. Sort of reflects my own experience I think.

  • @LadyGaGaMonster4Life Hey now, the UK has produced many great artists who have made epic masterpieces! But I agree it's one of the greatest albums ever. It's her Kid A.

  • oh my god, I got chills hearing this, oh my ~god~ [just now discovering kate bush don't mind me]

  • @ScrewYouPeacock You lucky person!

  • The Guitar Sound at 4:11 to the end just thrills me!

  • @ShowYourWorking Underage? Kate would be the exact right age for me - even when she's 75+ ;)

  • One of the best songs about war ever?

  • Tell me the bass player is Mick Karn from Japan ?

  • @cisco9x No, it's not Mick Karn. It's Danny Thompson on bass.

  • she knew what was going on, it wasnt just the music, she grew up in the era of what she saw happening, do any of u actually know anything

  • @ShowYourWorking lol still mine

  • Kate has one of the most beautiful voices ever if not the most beautiful voice ever!

  • whos the man singing in the backing vocals he sounds fantastic ?!

  • @Fendergreats19933 It's David Gilmour on backing vocals.

  • @Fendergreats19933 Wow i didnt know that thats really excellent his my idol

  • I was fresh out of Basic Training when I heard this in a record store in San Antonio...My first thought was "Where has this beautiful voice been all my life?" Just one of the reasons I volunteered for the UK (1985-88) and helped me fall in love with a magical country...God bless her, and Kate...

  • @Dyer129T ah you think we are magical? :) thats lovely!

  • This album is her masterpiece. Every track is a work of art and genius.

  • Still thrilling me, like it did when it came out. She´s marvellous

  • "Just one thing in it; Me or him. And I love life."

Kate is able to say all about war in twelwe words. What a wonderful woman!

  • Gods, this brings back so many sad college memories.

"I love life. Pull out the pin."

  • Není to jen věc názoru-K.B. ve svém oboru prostě nemá konkurenci.

  • omg this song sounds as fresh as the first time I heard it over 25 years ago. love it , The Dreaming is my favourtite KB album, just one thing in it me or him, and I love life, so pull out the pin..................

  • Maven1818 i grew up with her she is just so a wicked singer the best female artist in my eyes susie from the banshees 2nd and debby harry 3rd

  • @deltic1964 OMG sooo agree!!!

And this album is so underrated....

    ;)

  • Great Video and she is Mine before u ask boogiepop14mc lol i agree she is gorgeous

  • I can't beleive that I am just discovering this amazing artist!!!

  • In My Eyes she is Number 1 and i had the pleasure of growing up in the same era she is my Queen and still is gorgeous to me

  • @deltic1964.I'll never thank my uncle enough to have made me discover Kate!

  • @Katefanforever .your uncle has got good musical taste...

  • @diztanguy.Yes,he has.Kate is his favourite female singer and he loves The Beatles and Supertramp too.

  • @maven1818.Better late than never.

  • Oh england my lionheart, breathing, moments of pleasure, this womens work, wow, Don't give up( peter gabriel), hammer horror, coffee homeground, kashka from baghdad, symphony in blue, and breathing. i think these will get you properly into her music :)

  • Kate is not able to write a bad song!

  • @thebiglebowski1993, to truly get what Kate Bush is about I'd start with some less obvious tracks, like The Fog, Big Stripey Lie, Delius, Nocturn, The Ninth Wave, and the entire The Dreaming album.

  • for sillmoorox, all these songs are great. Army dreamers, pull out the pin, the dreaming, suspended in gaffa, sat in your lap, there goes a tenner, babooshka, night of the swallow, janie and the cold gun, wuthering heights, get out of my house, them heavy people, kite, cloudbusting, december will be magic again, running up that hill, pi, how to be invisible, hounds of love, the big sky, the kick inside, the man with the child in his eyes, never be mine, rubbernand girl, houdinni, leave it open.

  • thanks, and ye she is great, her and david gilmour are IMO the 2 greatest artists ever. And i think that movie is perfect, the other night we were watching the big lebowski and my mates hated it, so i put kate bush and pink floyd on and they hated that music as well, at least some people understand about these stuff.

  • Man,your friends don't like lebowski, don't like Kate and the Floyd,i won't even ask what their bag is.

    Remedy:GET NEW FRIENDS

P.S if your going to make someone a list of Kate's good tunes,it might take a while.

  • sillymoorox, i was exactly the same as that last byear, as i was just a new fan and i liked only about 10 of her songs, then after a while I became a big fan of her, and believe me songs like this are as good as wuthering heights, try listening to Oh england my lionheart, you should like that. if you want a list of her good songs, just ask me.

  • you re right dude.she is unique and simply the best.ho...dude...they peed on your rag... : )

  • just bught the album today, every song on here is brilliant.

  • And when i wrote "his discography" i obviously meant "her discography". Yeah, i keep making lexical errors, but humor me i just took 10 mg of hydrocodone and ive been awake for 27 hours straight. Either way my eternal gratitude to Symphony of Flowers for making this haunting, unsettling, and yet unmistakeably beautiful song (along with many other gems in the Kate Bush canon) available to us youtube types. Love the pictures too (she is as eccentric as she is gorgeous!)

  • Thank you! I'm glad that you like it. I worked really hard on this video.

  • i think one of her best songs is army dreamers and im guessing she did that earlier in her career? if i am wrong then please correct me as i am a very new fan as i only just discoverd her but i dont really think this is anything big compared to wuthering heights and army dreamers??? i know i am only a new fan and i do not know much about her music so if i am wrong about anything then please correct me! by the way if anyone could tell me more names of her songs then i would be truely gratefull! x

  • This song was never realized as a single (and is relatively obscure compared to her hit songs) and, yes, it was preceded by "Army Dreamers". The song itself is written from the perspective of a Vietnamese soldier feeling a sudden sense of empathy and shared humanity with an American GI he is on the verge of annihilating. With this album Kate entered into her more experimental period (culminating in the phenomenal "Hounds of Love" album)

  • When i wrote "realized" i meant "released". If you like this era of her work i would recommend "Watching You Without Me", "Big Sky", " The Dreaming", "Running up that Hill", "Get Out of My House", "The Sensual World", "Mother Stands for Comfort" and "Breathing". If you are interested in her hit singles than you I would recommend you simply look up Kate's Wikipedia article and refer to his discography. Lucky you discovering Kate Bush for the first time.

  • Try the Hounds of Love album. And hold on to your hat, it's utterly brilliant.

  • In Knock out! that's the way I feel when I listen this music, a real classic .......KT Bush is one great artist... I love her!

  • Apart from us ppl who have liked her music throughout i was referring to the earlier stuff kate did like there goes a tenner sat in your lap a lot of ppl remember wuthering heights who dosent but not those songs and wouldnt have necessary listened to the early stuff even though she has changed her style she is still the queen in my eyes !!

  • i love there goes a tenner! it was my favourite song when i was 5! my childhood was brought up around kate bush!

  • Absolutely a handcrafted piece of art! The experience is so complete. By far my favorite Kate album

  • i love The Dreaming - my favorite album by Kate

  • groundbreaking material.

  • wow at 0:15 she looks soo pretty!

  • This is Kate at her best her Earlier Stuff before she became Fanous this is the real kate \bush and all Fans Like me should agree x x

  • Uh no.

"Real" fans realize that she was always the real Kate Bush. Just because she slightly changed her style doesn't mean she wasn't the real Kate Bush. Who are you to say who she really is?

  • you dont have to agree but i am roughly the same age as kate and i think her earlier stuff is the real kate thats my opinion and am entitled to it you dont have to like it

  • What do you mean "before she became famous"? Kate has been famous ever since "Wuthering Heights", at least in Europe.

  • bought this when it was first released and will never get tired of listening to it ! a work of genius!

  • I think this is the best track on The Dreaming, along with the freaky, hilarious "Get out of my house", the last track. All of Kate's stuff is so haunting and timeless, she is in a league of her own and always will be...

  • great song again.kate is so impressive.best female singer ever.

  • danny thompson on double bass haha. he s so good. kate is an artist...for sure

  • The powerful emotions that Kate captures in her voice and in her songwriting is simply genius.

  • this must be from the vietcong side of view?

  • Yes, it's from the Vietcong point of view. The song is based on a documentary that Kate saw when she was younger. In the film the Vietnamese had a little Buddha in a chain around their neck and when they went into action the put the Buddha in their mouth so they could die with Buddha on their lips. You can read more about it in the dictionary section on Gaffaweb if you want to.

  • Only she could sing about killing quite so beautifully

The scream of 'I love life' kept me going at Uni!

  • I realized recently that this song is about the war in the 60s and early 70s in Vietnam.

  • Yeah, that just dawned on me a few months ago after a few years of listening to it. I always loved it, but I love it even more now I fully understand it. Kate's an amazing artist.

  • Best album of Kate Bush as far as I'm concerned lyrically and musically. Experimental, artistic, no boundaries...way ahead of its time. Meant to be listened loud to find all the layers. Amazing work. Even to this day, it is the one album that I listen to. Hounds of love might have achieved commercial success and it is a good album but The Dreaming is a league of its own and timeless

  • This whole album is beyond art. It is like my bible and my zen. Hearing it completely opened my mind up to this fascinating world. No one comes close to writing this kind of music.

  • If I had to go to a desert island and take one certain music album with me, it would be definitely The Dreaming.

  • I agree with indexcodex. I must have listened to this album a billion million times and it will always gives me goosebumps. My most favourite from Kate.

  • All the world's greatest geniuses are slightly crazy - and Kate Bush is a prime example!

This song is wonderful - mad but magnificent. thanks for posting it!

  • You're welcome!

  • kate is just the best ever, no female artist comes near, for me anyway. and now im going to bed goodnight cruel world. xxx.

  • Kate bush's music is art.

  • Hi, I'm from Israel and I was in high school when this record came out and I LOVED it. I loved all of Kate's records, but especially this one. Can't believe it's more than 20 years ago. Still sounds great.

  • kate you are numero uno singing this song:):):) LOAMO CHIN CHIN CHENTE ANNI SALUTE CAIO:):):)!!

  • Of course when I say "atticted" what I actually mean is "addicted". Oops.

  • I'm atticted to this song right now. It's so catchy! Kate Bush is the greatest.

  • Amazing collection of great images. Where did you find those pictures? Sparking the imagination just as much as her music does, great staging. And I too like the buddhas! :)

  • Sorry I didn't answer before. I found most of them on Gaffaweb, some on Google and some on other websites.

  • Thanks! I did not know most of them before, just great.

  • I remember this album in 1982.

I´d like to say. Come with me Kate.

Let´s together make these magic songs !

  • thx i'll find out tommorow thx

  • i cant seem to find the album the dreaming anywhere im getting really annoyed about it soo much

  • That sounds strange. Since you live in the UK it should be easy to find. I did a search on HMV and found it. And your local record dealer should be able to order it for you.

  • omg can i get the song plz

  • the song is wonderous so thoughtful and sexy. is it about the vietnam war??? "yanky hash" and "my silver buddha" ref to vietcong and them blowing themselves up to kill the invading americans????

  • Yes, the song is about the Vietnam War. It's based on a documentary Kate saw on TV when she was younger.

  • La voce maschile è di David Gilmour

  • Dammit i love this song

  • Superb song and a clever video The Dreaming is 1 of my favourite albums of all time i like the silva buddha pic thanks for posting.

  • You're welcome! Yes, I thought it would be a good idea to include some silver Buddhas in the video.

  • good work. thanks.
