  • the entire vid is filled with always the same subliminal image!

  • Brev,

I've been playing lead guitar "by ear" since the Beatles were on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. The one note theory is interesting and I can see how it will be very helpful in constructing lead guitar parts. By the way, there is actually a rock song where the lead guitar part is one note- Cinnimon Girl by Neil Young.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  • HAHAHAHAHA 3:31 XD

I swear his trying to control my mind!!!!!! >.<

  • pause at 2:24

  • @peniosasdasd good point man. i know what you're saying and meelad360 is right too. tone is very important. when it comes down to it talented guitarists do need good equipment to reach their full potential. but i just meant to emphasize the fact that skill is obviously an important factor, i don't think anyone would disagree.

  • @meelad360 i agree with what you're saying but the point is that talent is more important. YES, bad amps make will make guitars sound bad. obviously electric guitars need to be amplified so they can be heard clearly. but you can always go to a store and buy a better amp. you CAN'T go to a store and buy the things that dimmub69 is talking about. talent>equipment. end of story.

  • @NickJ2517

Cause its a real drag to be trapped in a tiny box of range caused by bad tone.

However sometimes you go to the store and play more expensive gear and you sound the same. That's not a good feeling either. So you just keep going, and once your technique improves you'll learn to adapt to cheap gear or a guitar.

But to a point, tone cant be changed by your playing style.

  • You look like a pornstar! I think I've seen you somewhere before...

  • 0:19 what the fuck.

  • 0:19 what just happen?! was that a subliminal message? o_o

  • @devvilboyy676767 look! at 3:31 there's another one! haha

  • @SJDR96

they're all over the places XD

  • @devvilboyy676767 he smiled ;D

  • @devvilboyy676767 I think it was just a bad cut...

  • @devvilboyy676767 holy shit O_O'

  • @devvilboyy676767 yvan eht nioj

  • @Onamonapiafied

    no thank you lol

  • @devvilboyy676767 because of your comment, everytime that happened in the video i laughed

  • @devvilboyy676767 Happens again! D:

  • do this and go no where

  • "one-note-solo" Is very nice and it is useful to every guitarist. jayanth.

  • He's got a Ramones hair thing going on; cool!

  • That cabinet is HUGE ._.

  • learn theory this is just blagging it

  • such a weird approach to playing

  • is it me or this is just boring?

  • Brev? what kind of a fuckin name is that?

  • @donalex13 the type that WILL MELT YOUR FACE OF WITH A GUITAR NAME! lolz

  • @donalex13

Jeez.. what a hater you are. Those who know him call him THE BREV-MAN

He happens to be named Ira BREVARD Sullivan after his father a world renowned and well loved Jazz Multi-Instrumentalist.

He does many lessons for FREE what do you do to help make the world a better musical place?

  • i use alot of octaves in my style also

  • Thanks for a really helpful vid. You guys rock!!!!!!

  • Your last name wouldn't by any chance happen to be "Ovechkin" wouldn't it?

  • This is very informative, but Hendrix was doing this back in the 60's, moving a

single note over several octaves,i still liked it though. At least he's cute.

  • ???????????????????????????????????

  • how is he a guitar teacher??!hes not very good even at simple playing like the thing he is showing.

  • I've seen another video where he plays better.

  • mah boy... its called DRILLS. once you manage to understand the concept he's trying to teach inside your thick skull, you'll realize that by learning where each note's octave is, you'll be able to figure out EXACTLY where you are. rather than screwing around on one mode of the blues scale, you can easily try it somewhere else and add some interesting licks without getting lost like the majority of 'guitar heros' who repeat solos of songs into their own 'skillz that killz' in their 133t solos.

  • he's actually pretty good

  • well i havent seen any his other stuff, but hes awfull in this vid.i dont mean musically, because i understand its just a exercise.but he isnt even playing it right!!!!

  • @kierand6533 = Noob

  • Any real musician will tell you, that you don't need an expensive guitar to sound and play amazing, all you need is talent, dedication and music in your soul, anyone that tries to bring down a fellow musician because they don't have an expensive guitar, has none of the three.

  • @dimmub69

--you may say that but hears the way i put it----

any guitar (doesn't matter about price) can be really good when you adjust the trust rod and action.......if theirs any problems of discomfort....you can get lower gage strings.... so any guitar can be the best if you the time into it........__i wanted to rephrase it because i hate when people say you can pull music out of your ass(or soul) with any guitar thats insanely hard to play__

  • @gunsandammo8

    @donalex13

Jeez.. what a hater you are. Those who know him call him THE BREV-MAN

He happens to be named Ira BREVARD Sullivan after his father a world renowned and well loved Jazz Multi-Instrumentalist.

He does many lessons for FREE what do you do to help make the world a better musical place?

  • @dimmub69 you do need a good tone though =)

  • @TheWhocares233

of course, but good tone comes from being a good musician as well. U need a good musician to know where his tones are best, highs lows mids or whatever

what good is it to have amazing tone, if you dont know how to use it loll.

now on the other side, a good musician will work with what he's got. Ive heard amazing respectfull musicians that have been playing for over 20 years that can grab a fender starter package and make it sound like pro rig. Its all in the fingers :)

  • @dimmub69 i saw a paul gilbert video of him playing an ibanez starter pack and shredding it up and it sounded amazing. so i agree there...But even the best playing doesn't sound too good with the treble max gain max and mids completely down if you get what i mean.

  • @dimmub69

    i agree 100%

i got the cheepo, and while it sounds ok

it easier to get what you want out of

    something worth playing.

but when your strapped for cash the $100 squier is not to shabby.

  • @dimmub69

any real musician will tell you that regardless of how good you sound on a cheap guitar, you'll sound much better on a better instrument. that is the truth.

  • @LfunkeyA

this is true funkey. but even if you give an amazing instrument to a mediocre musician, he/she will make it sound like a 10 dollar squire.

  • @dimmub69

    @dimmub69

possibly, depending on what the musician wants to achieve. say, if i wanted to play a really simple tune with a minimalistic solo for aesthetics' sake, i would be much more satisfied with a 400+ dollar guitar than with my 100 dollar trash. i guess we're talking about different levels of horrible here :). my tone is so ridiculously bad that playing a single note will make you cringe. also, where can you get 10 dollar squires? :P

  • @LfunkeyA

hahhaha A flea market or yard sale if your lucky.

Bro, save up and invest in a nice guitar, your hands and ears will thank you

  • @dimmub69

    will do!

  • @dimmub69 Dedication is where I have shone in the past, yet I have no idea about the other two, I've always played alone in my room. ^_^

  • @almostLiterate

lol dont be afraid to take your music places. To me, one of the best things about playing music is performing for people, i love seeing their reaction.

  • @dimmub69 I have no way to go anywhere :(

  • @dimmub69 yits true but some guitars helpyou as a beggineru wanht something in the middle that dont help u and show talent sometimes.

  • @dimmub69 You will sound shitty with a shitty amp though. No amount of talent, dedication, or "music in the soul" will make a line 6 spider III sound like a 5150 or recto.

  • @Meelad360

I'm sorry but i have to disagree, if your a great player you can still sound amazing regardless the amp. IDK if i have enough characters to write this story but..

basically this pretty popular and SIGNED guitarist (by a major label) hangs out with my old band. One day i was going to band practice and heard someone shredding inside. I assumed it was HIM, tearing it up on his 6505 or something, but not, as i walked into the garage i saw him shredding away on my shitty fender fm 100h

  • @Meelad360

before i saw what he was playing on, i had assumed he was on a thousand dollar amp at the very least, but he was tearing up my shitty fender 100h halfstack, it was ridiculous. and he truly is a great player, so like i said, i still stand on my theory that gear does not have much to do with how good of a player you really are, unless your guitar or instrument is unfit to play, which is totally different.

  • @dimmub69 I like to call them "statement people"

They seem to have to make a statement by having really expensive equipment

  • @dimmub69 I do agree with the other guy though, amps are pretty important

  • @dimmub69 Bullshit! You'll only sound good if you have quality equipment.

  • @leopower7

yeah? lol even if you suck?

  • @dimmub69 well... there are so many bands that don't have emotion, or technique, but they are famous and their sound pleases people, so...

  • .. those kind of players may not be good at a wide spectrum of classy guitar techniques but they do know enough about the shitty genre they play to get signed and heard. For example suicide silence, they fucking suck and their playing is extremely easy and premature, but they know their genre very well, so basically they play shit-music very well lol.

And originally i wasnt talking about Bands anyway, im talking about guitarists as individuals.

  • @leopower7 Good quality equipment makes you sound good tone wise, skill and tallent make you sound good as a player

  • @adomezz123 That's obvious. The thing is, people don't care about what is being played, they are about the tone mostly only.

  • @dimmub69 Only that doesn't work when your cheap guitar has fret buzz all over it or can't intonate properly. Also, a guitar may help you play faster, cleaner, and with less effort depending on the specs. It's kinda like learning to BMX on something which weighs 35lbs when the standard for pros is 20lbs. You're gonna have to ditch it pretty soon otherwise you will reach a limit at where your progress slows down considerably when it shouldn't.

  • @JPetrucci744

Ah that is a very good point. Honestly your like the only person who made a point towards having good equipment after all these months that i've posted comments & replies on this video.

  • @dimmub69 tone and quality does differ between price though... but I get what you mean.

  • @dimmub69 true, but still if you play amazing on a 80 bucks guitar will never sound like a 1000 buck guitar, the signal is too bad with low budget equipment

  • @dimmub69 and also look at the size of the amp in the background, that couldnt have costed less than $3000

  • @dimmub69 ONe of the best comments i have read.

  • @dimmub69 they are nice to have though

  • @dimmub69 they are nice to have though

also this video is fuckin weird

  • so you think a les paul is gonna make him play better? noob... im really sure you dont even know a little bit of music

  • @galileo13 Been playing since age 7, i know just a little bit. The only guitarist in the uk I like is Allan Holdsworth, the rest are noodlers.Later Poser.

  • noob

  • @HEWESREDFISHER16 Eric Johnson? Jimmy Page? Jeff Beck? Eric Clapton? All noodlers huh...

  • @NuclearSalvation Only a deaf person could possibly think that Texas's born Eric Johnson is Brit :).

  • @NuclearSalvation

nah they ain't all noodlers, but allan holdsworth is probably more advanced in terms of technique and theory, doesn't mean he's 'better' though

  • @HEWESREDFISHER16 I'm 99.38% sure that Jimmy Page is not a noodler...or even close...or even not the greatest guitar palyer ever...

  • @HEWESREDFISHER16 what about guthrie govan? prob the sickist uk player ever

  • @HEWESREDFISHER16 what about guthrie govan. if you call him a noodler... you disqualify yourself =)

  • bruno?

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • stop at 3:48 lmao!

  • lol

  • Very helpful thinkin'

    Thanks bro

  • 47 sec is hilarious

  • very interesting lesson

  • Nice, my soloing style is a similar idea, but a different principle. I mix and match fingering patterns rather than note or scale patterns. It leads to a more random sounding solo at first, but it works well for me given I swap tunings a lot. That said, the one note idea would transcribe well to fingering patterns for changing tunings... I'll be giving this a go! ;)
