Im torn between a used 2005 4runner sport V8 4wd and a 2011 Xterra pro 4x. 4runner kinda winning me on this one. That was impressive to say the least.
I have ridden in a 4 runner and I love the feel and power of it when we went off roading . I also love how comfortable it rides on the street. I just never bought one because the body looks so dull. Like a grandma's station wagon thats higher up. I wish it had a better body design.
The old ones are the hot looking. First gen was sloppy, but that's why is was so good. Second gen, only the first two years looked good. After that, all the 4Runners just look generic.
I dont get why everyone sais all of the new 4runners are weak, yes the 4th gen does't have the offroad capabilities as the older models but toyota is "catering" to a new market. The new 4runner has 270 horsepower and produces 278 lb-ft of torque in the V6, more power than any of the previous 4runners and it has a new X-REAS suspension for improved performance on or off the road, you just try to take your 4runner offroad against the 5th generation 4runner.
@moddedelectronics, XREAS is nothing new...it's been on every Sport Edition 4Runner since the 2003 model year. And as for capability, the 4th gen is #1 simply because of the 2009 Trail Edition. It has both a locking center differential AND a locking rear differential. You can't get that on the new 5th gen 4Runners unfortunately.
@dawsomd1 What is wrong with plastic? Maybe bumper COVERS are plastic instead of metal like you want, since cars need to comply with rules and regulations. Plastic costs less, saves weight, saves gas, improves performance, can be molded into any shape, etc etc. You probably never have driven newer 4Runners so go test drive first before saying they're "Weak". Anyway I'm a junior @ University, not a HS. I regret that I came down to your idiocy level and argued with you.

You can hear the ATRAC working when the right rear tire starts to spin. The ABS starts to slow down the tire that's spinning so the other side can have traction as well. Excellent ATRAC demonstration
@seacuracao No, the New 4runner is not only 2wheel drive. They have 4x4 version of the SR5 and the Limited, but the one everyone wants is the trail edition which are only 4x4.
Nice. Looks like you've got a small lift and some tires. Did you do spacers and keep the Xreas or coilovers? What size tires? Are you thinking about rock sliders? If you haven't already you should check out toyota120's forums. Lots of guys over there you might like.
