Maybe U dun get it - going to visit Yuendumu is hardly "inspiring" if U saw it + sister community Papunya in the 1970's. They were the hell-holes of white oppression + disregard + subjugation. Stark, desolate, deprived + depressing. They were also places of endemic debilitating diseases such as hepatitis, dysentry, etc. Yet it IS inspiring that the ppl there have survivied, thrived + maintained their culture + spirit to be themselves in the face of begrudging oppressive white society.
