I only have one question. Do you work for Capcom? and if not, i think it's high time you posted a resume. These level ideas are some of the best I've ever seen.
I think everything you've been doing here is absolutely oustanding. I only have one question/complaint. Why does everyone prefer the sound effects from Mega Man 1 and 2? Personally, I think the sounds of Mega Man shooting, landing on platforms and the contact of his shots were VASTLY improved and slicker from Mega Man 3 and onward. The same thing bothered me about Mega Man 9. I get the fact that a lot of people enjoy Mega Man 2 most, but some changes are good changes.
I'm lovin' the progress. It seems like everything is coming along very smoothly. I have a question for you. Will you be implementing a weapon system into this engine as well as menu to go with it? If so, which menu system will you be using? MM1-3's (small menu and momentum reset enabled), MM4-9's (full screen menu and momentum reset disabled), or possibly a combination of the two?
Except the fake wall above the spike, but I doubt he'd include that into the game without a very obvious hint to it, otherwise it would just be mean :P
When this engine is finished, are you planning on releasing it publicly or charging? Because I think I have an idea of something I could do with this.

Thatt actually looks like a pretty cool stage for one of the robot masters. Just add some enemies, take away the fake wall and you're golden.
Maze Man, anyone? ... Nah, I jest.

Nah, it doesn't look half bad actually.

SWEET.. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on this engine when it's complete. I've hack some of the original roms, but this looks alot more open ended.
