@MsSuperSonic35 - Its a complex term most competitive battlers use to categorize Pokemon based on their stats and overall power within the meta-game. An examples are:
Mr Mime = UU - Under Used... hardly ever used nor seen because of its poor stat distribution and lack of longevity in a competitive environment.
Metagross = OU - Over Used... Almost always seen in all teams. It's typing is very strong and it can dominate fairly easily without much effort. A single hit can wreck almost any team
@MsSuperSonic35 OU implies that Pokemon is within a certain usage threshold (for 4th and 5th gen, something like 5% iirc) in the Standard tier, UU is 5% usage in the next tier down, etc. UU Pokemon can be used in OU (to use a 4th gen example, Porygon-2 could be used in OU as a niche counter to Heatran and Gyarados, among other things) but not the vice-versa. BL and Ubers are banlists for OU and UU, respectively.
Incredible! i was so surprised at mantine! he took that t-bolt like a champ! im guessing its EV's are S.Attack and Speed, yet he survived a life orb t bolt, great pokemon team you have!
Amazing battle!! woah, havent seen a single battle in a while, you readed every move of your opponent congrats on that :D, as i see its a new team rlly creative ^^ never seen a scarf-matine before.
Nice battle. Have you and Overhazard ever battled? (I'm a recent subscriber, so I don't know.) Being that the two of you both stray from the cookie-cutter Smogon sets (on purpose), it would be interesting to see the two of you at it.
Before I would have liked the opportunity, but now I have no interest!
Overhazard is way too popular. I should imagine that most people would "brand" me for wanting more Subscribers or Popularity! I don't want either and I always support those less popular cause its where I belong.
Nicely done! You read your opponent like a book. You really nailed them into a corner and they didn't see it coming. I agree with the whole tier thing. It has ruined the game. People think you can only win by using pokemon in the higher tiers. They loose their instinct about creativity and all, which takes away from the game.
StormBreaker2312 hit it on the dot. If people weren't so flippin' repetitive on movesets, we wouldn't judge the tiers that much. How else are we able to predict what these guys do? If we see a rerun, you memorize it and it becomes an open book to anyone that realizes this. Congokong's most recent vid proves how easy predicting is towards these trainers. I don't bash OUs, but I've seen them too much to not bash on them. I'm sick and tired of seeing the same thing.
Nice battle, it was a wise choice to focus on Zapdos and Latios. After reading some of the previous comments on OU's I felt like sharing my own opinion. The way I see, it is not really the pokemon themselves that are OU, but rather they seem to have repetitive movesets. How many people expect a special attacking Ambipom? Not many as far as I know. Just my two cents. Anyways, great battle! I hope that it inspires others to keep playing random Wi-Fi.
Yah, the only reason why I am sometimes concerned about tiers is that there can be a fair amount of flaming just for using certain pokemon and that is not really something that I want to deal with. The other reason is that I like to try to be creative by using pokemon that people don't see very often on Wi-Fi.
Those types of battles are what truely make excellent videos. Your team, may I add is also very creative, and its great to see another weather team that does not involve Hail AND has a Abomasnow (by which I mean andybob's sunny day team)
Lately I've been seeing a few more of these teams, and just a few hours ago I was up against a work-in-progress Japanese VGC 2010 team, (which means two Ubers and all the rest were OU) but I think I did pretty well. I had them off guard for quite a while.
They had a Dark Void Smeargle BUT they didn't use it until the very end when I had one Pokemon left. I have respect for that..
Ah but I ramble, sorry..
As always you did a superb job. I see you put annotations, for your thoughts :)
Now this is one of the reasons why i made a team just like the Japanese players use in doubles except mine actually HAS strategy which most of them seem to lack. The only ones i see is the same old Trick room, Belly drum snorlax, psych up and first strike spam crap over and over. Nice battle.
Wifi is a little annoying mostly because Lati@s and OUs are everywhere. But sometimes you battle UU NU people with an actual strategy, and that makes me know that there are good people out there.
With regards to attacking or stalling? I couldn't help but think it was their downfall. Not to mention the sandstorms affect on both Zapdoss and Latios......
I think they have a Sand Streamer just to override Kyogre/Groudon/Abomasnow's weather or weather-inducing moves, and to boost Regirock's lower Special Defense
At least that's what I think, haha. I can't read minds of course :(
Nah pretty old now! Ive had battles with it against quite a few YouTubers. Both pelvicannon and rprusty have seen, battled and posted video's featuring it
I've never understood the terms OU, UU or other tiers like that. PLZ EXPLAIN TO ME!

Wow, way to go Mantine! I forget time and again the kind of special attacks that thing can handle. I can't wait to impliment it on one of my teams...
Your Lopbunny and Abomasnow make surprisingly good partners. I'm sure Blitzer will be convinced by this battle!

well lets not all be OU haters.
i have solid Ou teams...
Solid UU teams
and Solid NU teams.
i dont play ubers though....
if only shoddy battle had a Never Used section to play in....
Rundas1234 2 years ago
I really don't hate OU's! I think they are pretty obvious to predict thats all.
atreecko 2 years ago
@atreecko i didnt say names, did i?
most of the people here were hating.
Rundas1234 2 years ago
I wasn't accusing you of anything nor did I mention any names either!
As for haters I really can't stop them, its their opinion entirely not mine. I do think that it needs to stop, as its clearly ruining the game.....

You showed your opponent that every kind of pokemon can be usefull in the right situation.
I really like Latios, but not in the way most people tend to use him.
Great battle.

the only concern i have with your team is how does it handle special walls?
you have one physical attacker.

No need for concern cause there are 2! Typhlosions one of the physical attackers.
